Shannon Greenland - I want to go to Greece!

June 2, 2012 - 12:06 pm

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - I was going to write something about your review, but then I saw your pretty pictures and got distracted. They’re absolutely gorgeous! <3

May 31, 2012 - 5:27 pm

Megan @ Books-andTeacups - The number of love triangles in YA books is kind of ridiculous! haha. But this does sound like a good summer read 🙂 and beautiful photos!

May 31, 2012 - 5:06 pm

VeganYANerds - This book sounds lovely and I’m so happy you liked it beause I kep seeing it in people’s book haul posts, back when it was on Netgalley, and then a week or so later the reviews weren’t so good which is a shame because I LOVE the cover! You’ve convinced me this is so worth reading and hooray for the love triangle not being too overbearing.

Those photos are just gorgeous, Magan!

May 31, 2012 - 10:49 am

Ginger @ GReads! - So aside from the lovely book review, your pics of Greece have made me crave summer like no other!!! Geeze that place looks gorgeous. I would love to be there right about now. Thank you friends for being a part of this summer feature with me! 🙂

May 31, 2012 - 10:47 am

elena - This book just screams summer to me! Also WORD to the YA boys thing. They’re nice and all but come on, how often is a girl torn between TWO boys? Especially a teenage one. I will definitely pick it up if I want a light read. 🙂

ahh so jealous about Greece! It looks so lovely. I remember being astounded by the Sisterhood of the Traveling pants film, everything was so white and PRETTY. I love, love your photos especially the last one. Gorgeous!

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - This books sounds simultaneously creepy and sad – but the subject matter is an important one. With the Internet being someone that even the youngest generation has access to nowadays, I think it’s important to share this story.

Great review, by the way – you’ve made me want to read this one!

June 2, 2012 - 8:45 pm

Jasmine Rose - I so completely agree that this one needs to be taught in schools. Or at the very least, read along with a parent or something like that. It’s incredibly powerful and. Fantastic review, Estelle :]

June 1, 2012 - 12:24 pm

Andrea @ The Overstuffed Bookcase - As a parent, I don’t think it will be easy for me to read this. But I think it will most likely be something I read with my son (and any future kids) when he gets older. And I love how the author shows that this can happen to anyone, not just unintelligent or naive teens. Great review!!

May 31, 2012 - 6:47 am

Lori - I’ve had this on my shelf since it came out. Now I really want to pick it up next. I like books that are heavy and hard to read every once in awhile. This sounds like a great one.

May 30, 2012 - 9:24 pm

Estelle - M, I felt so worried about Abby… I thought I was going to pass out. I’m serious. I wanted to warn her and keep her safe. But I was also angry at her. I really hope you can find a copy of this soon! If I can help let me know. This book is not to be missed! Thx for stopping in, as always!

May 30, 2012 - 9:16 pm

VeganYANerds - Oh this had me feeling worried for Abby, and it really makes me want to read it like NOW. I like that you mention that Abby wasn’t stupid, she just just ignored what she’d been taught, I am sure so many teens are like this.

WTGP has been on my to-read shelf since Jan but thanks to you I’m going to try and get a copy soon!

May 30, 2012 - 9:07 pm

Estelle - Thx for your comment, Lisa. This book is probably as un-Disney as you can get but I really hope you give it a try. I think all readers could get so much out of it. Even the really really horrible parts. – E

May 30, 2012 - 8:18 pm

elena - I really loved your review of this, Estelle!! It makes me actually want to read the book which I was iffy about before. It does seem like a really intense and realistic read but I’m usually not keen on reading them because they make me uncomfortable. I like the point you made about Abby being educated about Internet predators and still falling into that trap because it’s so much more plausible than people realise.

May 30, 2012 - 6:33 pm

Annette - Must read!! You are right. Excellent review. Been recommending this heavily.

May 30, 2012 - 9:15 am

Dizneeee - I REALLY want and need to read this book. I keep putting it off because it truly frightens me. I have a feeling this is one that I will buy, though, and share it with my niece when she is older. Too many true stories about this type of thing happening — makes me want to cry!

Our Half Year Report + a Summer Book Giveaway

Ahaha, Estelle, my goal was similar to yours in that for every 5 YA book I would read, I would read an adult. THAT DID NOT WORK OUT. Also, good luck on writing!! 🙂

Plus the work you have to show for it appears to be from someone who’s been blogging a lot longer as well. I love this home you’ve created here! The book blogging community definitely needs more of people like the two of you in it 🙂

Cami - I read this book, I loved it, it’s one of those books who make me feel like I’m the main character (in most of the books I read that happens) and this pushed me to go back to ballet classes, it brought my hidden passion for ballet out again. It’s amazing I really do recommend it.

June 18, 2012 - 3:28 pm

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - Okay, first of all – YES to Channing Tatum in Step Up. The boy is HOT. And also, I love Center Stage! It was one of my favorite movies to watch over and over again when I was still in high school.

And now, about the book – it sounds like I would really love this one. I mean, it features ballet! That’s already enough reason for me to like it. Glad you enjoyed it!

June 9, 2012 - 11:47 am

April Books & Wine - This may sound dumb, but I find dance to be SO boring. Like I cannot even sit through dancing with the stars without wanting to slit my wrists. Okay, that’s hyperbole. But, if it’s a dance movie like Center Stage or Dirty Dancing, I will watch the HECK out of it. Same with books. I love fictionalized dance, but not real dance.

SO ALL OF THE DRAMA OF BUNHEADS? Yeah I am down for getting swept away into the world of competition. Legit review, yo.

May 31, 2012 - 9:49 pm

Sash from Sash and Em - Love love love that you loved it. It’s so understated and that’s what I adored. 🙂

May 30, 2012 - 9:02 am

Andrea @ The Overstuffed Bookcase - I have had this on my TBR list for a while, but I really think I should read it ASAP, because I just finished catching up with the show Dance Academy (which you should totally give a try if you haven’t already – I think you’d really love it. It’s on Instant Netflix right now!) and I’m feeling a major ballet ache. I danced for 12 years, mostly ballet, and I really miss it. Thanks for this great review – I’m going to go get this one ASAP!

May 28, 2012 - 8:56 pm

Liz - Ahh this totally sounds Center Stage-esque, I love it. Thanks for pointing this one out, I hadn’t heard of yet, I will put it on my to read list.

And hell yes to Channing Tatum in Step Up.

May 28, 2012 - 8:17 pm

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - Oh, and P.S. That cover? So totally awesome.

May 28, 2012 - 8:17 pm

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - Great review! I agree, this was a fantastic little book, and such a breath of fresh air. I can’t wait to see what Sophie comes up with next!

May 28, 2012 - 8:13 pm

Aneeqah - For some reason, I was thinking about Dance Moms as I read this review [I think that’s because that’s the only dance related show that I’ve seen recently]. Anyways, this sounds like a very interesting book! I haven’t heard of this one before, but after reading your review, I think I’ll be adding it to the TBR now. I haven’t really read a dance book before, and this book sounds like the perfect one to try out. Great review! =)

-Aneeqah @ My Not So Real Life

May 28, 2012 - 8:05 pm

Hannah @ So Obsessed With - I can’t dance to save my life, but I LOVE dance movies. So much. I also refused to do ballet as a child because I said that I wouldn’t wear pink & couldn’t stand tights. Haha! However, I love things involving ballet, so this sounds good. And I just saw the preview of an ABC Family show of the same name (is it based off the book?) and the Executive Producer was the creator of Gilmore Girls which I loved… so I’m basically saying I was already interested in this book & now I’m convinced.

May 28, 2012 - 5:29 pm

VeganYANerds - You’ve convinced me that I need to read this! I’m a sucker for dance movies and tv shows so this really appeals to me!

May 28, 2012 - 9:34 am

Jen - SEE, I loved this book, too. I read it awhile back, so I don’t remember ALL the details, but I remember enjoying Hannah and Jacob and thinking they were totally adorable.

May 28, 2012 - 7:25 am

Lori - I was curious about this one when it released but I haven’t heard much about it. I’m so happy to hear that you liked it. I’m adding it to my wish list right now.

Estelle: Shelve It (5/27/2012)

Jasmine Rose - I’ve been dying to read Pizza, Love, and Other Stuff for soooooo long. I can’t wait to see what you think about it!
As for my book habits when it comes to vacation…well, I tend to sacrifice clothing space for book space. Plus, I’m an overpacker, so I’ll usually bring about 5 books for a three day trip. And no, I’m not an especially fast reader 😛

May 27, 2012 - 8:59 pm

VeganYANerds - Well despite the rain you looked really happy and summery, love your green outdoor furniture too! I think I saw a squirrel run along the fence in the background, I got all excited and distracted, ha! Also, I love pizza too!

You are taking some great books on your cruise, also, what’s a Disney cruise? Is it organised by Disney, I’ve never heard of it before!

I just got In Honor so we might be reading it at the same time and I love Jennifer Echols’ books so I hope you enjoy Endless Summer.

May 27, 2012 - 6:52 pm

Paige - I’m so jealous of In Honor! I cannot wait to read it! I hope you get to read all the books that your bringing along on your trip! Here’s my IMM!

~Paige @ Comfort Books

May 27, 2012 - 4:59 pm

Liz - Great picks, you definitely have to read Second Chance Summer and In Honor, they were both great. I’m reading Endless Summer right now, and really looking forward to reading Unbreak My Heart, hopefully next.

Have an awesome time on your trip!

May 27, 2012 - 3:10 pm

Ginger @ GReads! - I am so ridiculously excited for you to read Endless Summer. It’s such a great book & perfect for your vacation! I am currently reading Unbreak My Heart right now (only a few chapters in, but loving it so far). Thanks for all the shout outs!

May 27, 2012 - 1:39 pm

Leoni - All those books look perfect for a holiday! 🙂 On holiday I will be taking my kindle and reading the books I have on there as well as maybe buying one in the airport before I go. Thanks for sharing your books to read. 🙂

elena - Hehe “I love pizza.” I’m kind of craving it now after seeing that cover! It does seem like a super cute book. I’ve heard a lot of good things about In Honor but still haven’t read it. Unbreak My Heart does sound perfect for your trip! When I was younger, I used to bring like a suitcase full of books but these days, I only bring one or two since I don’t really read on trips. I hope you have lots of fun on yours!!

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - M: That pool looks totally fabulous. I would totally hang out there all the time if I could, and just bring along a book and some snacks!

E: Backyard BBQs or meals are always fun for me. And someday, when I own a house, I’d love to have a place with a feel similar to yours – relaxing and homey.

Tara - I am SUPER envious of your pool and backyard space! One of the drawbacks of living in the city I suppose… when can I come visit both of you? 😉

Hannah @ So Obsessed With - Our new neighborhood has a pool (insert celebration here!) and today was our first day laying out. I got a sunburn (no surprise there), but it was SO worth it to get some reading in with the sun shining and sound of kids playing. Loved it!

Also, I almost got the Kermit-colored chairs but ended up going with brown at the last minute. Still love your color though!

April Books & Wine - Okay, my neighborhood pool looks like you’ll get a disease if you get in the water. So I am so freakin’ jealous over here.

Seriously, you guys have great reading spots!

elena - I love seeing where you both read! My community pool is super fancy but I don’t really go with it because you need an ID and the ID machine is broken every time I try to get one, haha. I love that you both read outside, I need to do that more often. Thanks for sharing.

margie c {the bumble girl} - LOVE the Kermit chairs! and that pool area looks lovely! Unfortunately, I can’t stand the heat and bugs around here, lol! The humidity can be so wicked! I will sit on my deck in the early morning hours, but once that sun starts to peek, I’m in the a/c right next to the window in my cushy rocking chair from Ikea, lol 😉

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - Aww… I love this post! My favourite summer reading spot is definitely our patio. We live in a condo with a great outdoor area and, since it rains the majority of the year, we have a very short window of time to enjoy sitting outside. I spent last weekend getting the patio all cleaned up, and now hoping that we’ll have a good stretch of time to enjoy it! Although I need to find some Adirondack chairs to add; there is seriously no type of chair that is more comfortable!!

Estelle, I LOVE your kermit chair!! So cute. And yay for summertime spirits 🙂
