I’m most looking forward to reading Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea. =)

August 31, 2013 - 1:42 pm

Lisa - Oh my god, you’re giving me such an impossible question to answer. I think I would choose Option B, but they’re both pretty rockin’. I’ve been wanting to read Second Chance Summer for so long and looove Sarah Dessen and Jessi Kirby πŸ˜€

August 31, 2013 - 10:53 am

Sarah - I’d love to win Option A, but both packages are awesome! I really want to read The Distance Between Us because it looks so cute!

I’m so sad that summer is coming to an end because I didn’t read nearly as many summer books as I had hoped to.

August 31, 2013 - 8:42 am

Cait - Ooo—all are such great summer picks! I’d have to go with Option B though simply because Sarah Dessen is my all-time favorite author. And I haven’t gotten around to reading her new one yet, eek!

August 30, 2013 - 3:13 pm

Cate - Love your Toms– I wear mine all the time! While both options look great, I would prefer Option B since I’ve been wanting to read Golden for awhile now.

August 30, 2013 - 2:53 pm

Heather Miller - This series has been so much fun! Thanks in large part to you guys, I’ve been delving into contemporary books and enjoying them more than I ever thought I would! I’ve devoured both of Morgan Matson’s books this summer and am definitely looking forward to more from her soon. And thanks for turning me on to Ginger and Tara’s blogs as well.
I’d love to receive package A, and I’m super intrigued by Daisy Whitney especially, though the premise of Openly Straight also sounds awesome. And thank you guys again for such a fun summery series!

August 30, 2013 - 2:51 pm

Emmah - It was so hard to choose, but I’d have to say I’d pick Option B. I really want to read “Where The Stars Still Shine”, “Golden”, “Second Chance Summer”, and “Just Like Fate”.

August 29, 2013 - 9:11 pm

Cialina - I would love to get Option A — I’ve had my eye on those books for a while!

I watched Craigslist Joe a while back. The premise was interesting… I never thought that it would be possible to do all that he did for free!

August 29, 2013 - 2:12 pm

Summer - This is such a tough choice, so many books I want to win in both, but I think I’ll go with B, for Sarah Dessen and Jessi Kirby, plus I just read an amazing review for Where The Stars Still Shine. Thanks so much for the giveaway.

August 29, 2013 - 1:16 am

Natalie @ Books, etc. - Ouuuu this is a tough one! I’m going to have to say option B though! I’m super excited to read Golden, Just Like Fate, and Second Chance Summer! Also, love the dress and aviators!!! πŸ˜€

August 28, 2013 - 8:21 pm

Bookworm1858 - I love the dress-I’m super into stripes and just got a cute striped top that I paired with a twirly red skirt-I felt very on trend. Luckily the weather will continue to be hot through September where I live so I don’t have to say goodbye to summer yet!

August 28, 2013 - 12:06 pm

Alexa Y. - Ginger – Your summer sounds FANTASTIC. I love that you were able to visit Anna and Tara in Chicago (which seems like SO. MUCH. FUN.), and that lake house trip sounds spectacular. I’m also dying to watch that documentary now because it sounds really good and also extremely moving.

E&M – I love you guys, first of all. IF I won your giveaway, I’d want option B, and I’d be super excited to read Just Like Fate most of all!

August 28, 2013 - 10:27 am

August 27, 2013 - 10:01 pm

Ellie - I’d chose option B…I’ve heard amazing things about Golden and Second Chance Summer!

August 27, 2013 - 9:57 pm

Betty - Yay! This was a fun post!! Loved learning more about Ginger!! πŸ™‚ I definitely need to check out the movie Craigslist Joe now! haha I really wish summer wasn’t over already– I seriously can’t believe it. It feels like it should still be June. πŸ™ I do love all the holidays though, so bring em on!

August 27, 2013 - 6:46 pm

Tara - I’ve had so much fun this summer with you ladies! Your graphics were AMAZING and I think we can all agree we had pretty fabulous summers. <3<3<3

August 27, 2013 - 6:12 pm

Randi M - I loved following along with Sweet Summertime Reads all summer long! πŸ™‚ And now I need to go look at TOMS… I would lovelovelove Option A – I’m especially excited to read The Distance Between Us (love that cover & I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews!) and When You Were Here (Japan YA setting? Yes, please!). Thank you for all of the awesome posts this summer & for the giveaway. πŸ™‚

August 27, 2013 - 4:23 pm

Tiff @ Mostly YA Lit - This is so hard! I think Option B because I’m dying to read Where The Stars Still Shine and Golden.

Thanks for the awesome, awesome giveaway. What a great idea!

August 27, 2013 - 2:23 pm

Tammy - Option B. Looking forward to reading Where The Stars Still Shine πŸ™‚

August 27, 2013 - 11:16 am

Jen @ Pop! Goes The Reader - Hooray! Three of my favourite bloggers in collaboration together πŸ˜€ This post was such a treat to read and I really looked forward to each instalment of the Sweet Summertime Reads series! It was such a great idea. Ginger, I absolutely adore that nail colour and given that my wardrobe is at least 25% nautical-themed, it’s safe to say that I’m absolutely in love with that dress πŸ˜‰ Sometimes there’s nothing better than a simple staple like an outfit you can dress up or down given the occasion.

August 27, 2013 - 11:10 am

Daphne - Craig’s List Joe looks/sounds fantastic. I wouldn’t be able to do something like that, but I applaud anyone who puts themselves out there. looks like you had a fantastic summer, G.

if i were to win, i would pick option A for openly straight and the distance between us.

August 27, 2013 - 11:01 am

Stormy @ Book.Blog.Bake. - I love the summertime splurges! And lake pictures. I am definitely a lake over the beach person. I’ll pass on going to the coast, but give me a vacation to a lake anyday.
Both prizes seem awesome, but I think I’d take option B and be most excited for Second Chance Summer. I’ve heard it’s reduced some readers to a ball of tears, and apparently, I had a weird idea of fun because it sounds like a great(if emotional) book to me.

August 27, 2013 - 9:29 am

Cassie - A- this is awesome and I’m totally loving those Tom’s, the vaca pics and that Old Navy Dress!

B- I choose option B- FOR: WHERE THE STARS STILL SHINE! I mean come on. We all know I’m DYING to get my hands on it! PLUS, Dessen! That will force me to read my first Dessen πŸ˜€

xoxo Ladies! <3

August 27, 2013 - 8:42 am

Ginger @ GReads! - Aww you girls! Thank you for the sweet note at the beginning <3 This turned out so good! I can't believe the summer is over & our feature is coming to a close. I had a lot of fun posting with y'all each week. Thank you again for your amazing posts & your love for all things SUMMER!

August 27, 2013 - 8:41 am

Jamie - G, I’m loving that nail color!! Where did you get it? Also, I ALMOST bought some Tom’s this summer (the crocheted ones) but ended up not. I’m loving those zebra print ones!! Sounds like you’ve had an amazing summer <3

August 27, 2013 - 1:10 am

Angela @ Lit Mug - This is a great post idea. It’s crazy, I still have a month left of summer before my classes start. I’m still taking summer classes, but a lot of people are starting school for the fall. Sounds like you had a great summer though!

The Big Kids’ Table: So Obsessed With Adult Books

Hi friends! How are you doing on this lovely August Friday? Truth be told, I’ve been struggling with how to make Big Kids’ Table exciting and refreshing for you. I have been really conquering the adult reads this year (much like I wanted to last year) and I’m still not sure what makes you tick, […]

Hannah @ So Obsessed With - Hey hey! Do I win the award for worst guest blogger because I just realized I NEVER commented?! Gosh, major fail on my part, E. But thanks so much for having me! I love talking about adult reads – and I’m so glad you love them, too! This is definitely one of my most looked forward to features each month πŸ™‚ I always enjoy seeing what people recommend or what you’ve found at the bookstore!

September 5, 2013 - 8:35 am

Adult Fiction Books | Books With Cass - […] Big Kid’s Table over at Rather Be Reading! I LOVEEE that feature so much! [& myself and Hannah have been featured!] I look forward to it each […]

August 28, 2013 - 11:58 am

Alexa Y. - It’s been quite a while since I’ve cracked open an adult book! But seriously, it was awesome of Hannah to share how she chooses the adult book she buys and to share her three latest suggestions. I’m definitely going to try and follow her tips to see what I can find the next time I’m in a bookstore and ready to buy adult books!

August 27, 2013 - 8:48 am

Jamie - Every since I saw the tweet for this post I’ve been excited to take a look over it when I decided to open that overflowing thing called Feedly! Prior to blogging I ALSO only read adult fic and classics and now I’m sitting here like trying to think about HOW I found out about books back then. I think mostly goodreads and just perusing the store/library. I feel so “in the loop” with YA but so out of the loop when it comes to Adult books unless I’m reading Big Kids Table or I see another YA blogger reading an adult book.

Love this post, Hannah!

August 26, 2013 - 11:46 am

Rachelia (Bookish Comforts) - I love this post! Before I started blogging I used to read a lot more adult book than YA. But mostly the way I decided was just random browsing or buying interesting looking ones at my library’s booksale. Hannah’s method is very useful! I’ve also found myself more interested in adult books since I’ve been browsing on Edelweiss!

August 25, 2013 - 1:46 pm

Sara (of The Page Sage) - I’ve been delving into Adult books more and more lately, so I really love your Big Kids’ Table feature. Because of the price tag, I usually get adult books from my library. I’m a volunteer there, so sometimes I’ll stumble upon something interesting. Other times, I find adult books that are written by YA authors I love, or I see online recs.

August 24, 2013 - 8:46 am

VeganYANerds - I definitely agree with reading a sample due to the price of adult fic compared to YA, and finding a reviewer who you trust to like similar books to you. Good advice, Hannah!

August 23, 2013 - 4:22 pm

Jess, Books and Sensibility - I’ve started to get more and more into Adult fiction. I’m hoping to find more adult fiction blogs.

August 23, 2013 - 4:10 pm

Tiff @ Mostly YA Lit - My adult book recs are almost always from my husband and his family, who read constantly. I’ve found a few authors that I love, like Alice Munro, Audrey Niffenegger, and Nicole Krauss, and I’ll definitely give their new releases a look. Other than that, unless it’s been recommended a thousand times and shoved into my hands by my husband’s family (Haruki Murikami), it’s pretty hard for me to get out of the YA section. It’s just so much more fun there!

August 23, 2013 - 1:31 am

Bookworm1858 - Hope you love A Hundred Summers-I thought it was very enjoyable. Did not like The Ashford Affair as much as Willig’s Pink Carnation series. This post is reminding me that though I always think I read mostly YA, I still sneak in some adult books since I’ve read 2 of the 3 you mention and have at least heard of the third.

Sweet Summertime Reads: When You Were Here Gift Pack

Can you believe there’s only two weeks left of our Sweet Summertime Reads series with Ginger and Tara? It’s been such a fun summer of new ideas, summer loving, and it’s crazy that it’s about to come to a close. I’m going solo today with this post but it is totally inspired by Magan’s affection […]

Alexa Y. - This gift pack is the perfect mix of eclectic and awesome! I really like it a lot. It also makes me want to read When You Were Here even more than I already do. GAH. Why do I not have a copy here with me right now? So glad you enjoyed it!

August 20, 2013 - 10:16 pm

ShootingStarsMag - Love this post! I haven’t read the book, but I’m glad you enjoyed it. I randomly try and find gift items that I feel fit a novel I’ve read so people can put them together for an awesome gift. It’s fun to see that others are doing the same and it makes me want to read certain books even more!

August 20, 2013 - 8:15 pm

Bookworm1858 - This book is on my list-love a good male protagonist and seeing which items you selected and why.

August 20, 2013 - 5:57 pm

elena - love this!!! as soon as i saw this post, i was like I AM GOING TO READ IT but then i took a nap instead. perhaps i’ll read it after commenting now!! love your story about lilacs. πŸ™‚

August 20, 2013 - 4:04 pm

Ginger @ GReads! - This book was on my “summer reading list” & I have yet to read it! And the summer is almost over! I should rectify this sooner, rather than later. I have a feeling it will be something I enjoy.

Super cute post Estelle!

August 20, 2013 - 2:38 pm

Bonnie - hahaha! I LOVE those earrings, they are extremely quirky.

August 20, 2013 - 2:17 pm

Annie - I’m happy you liked this book Estelle! I love the fact that it’s set in Tokyo. I’m always a big fan of foreign settings and Tokyo (or really anywhere in Asia) isn’t common in books.

I also love that the main character is a male! I don’t remember the last time a book I read had a guy as the MC so that is really great!

Super happy to see a themed gift pack! I’ve missed these! πŸ™‚ And that the sushi earrings are lovely!

Sweet Summertime Reads: The Yearbook

Welcome back for another Sweet Summertime Reads post. As summer winds down, stores fill up with huge school supplies displays that make us yearn for the days we’d be doing our school shopping and prepping for our first days of school. So this week, Ginger, Tara, and the two of us are focusing on going […]

Hannah @ So Obsessed With - THIS POST IS EVERYTHING AWESOME! I loved your comments on the different aspects of going back to school, and I’m in love with your superlatives and graphics! Y’all are always coming up with such great new ideas and posts! Love that about your blog :0

August 28, 2013 - 11:18 am

Alexa Y. - THIS POST IS MADE OF WIN. I’m sorely tempted to leave my comment at that, but seriously, you girls just NAILED IT. I love your choices for your back to school reading selections, and the categories you filed them under! Such spot on recommendations. Gotta definitely check out the ones I haven’t yet read!

August 15, 2013 - 4:12 pm

katy - Band Geek Love sounds so great! I wasn’t in Band but I was the only one in my group of friends who wasn’t, so I felt like I was. I knew all the drama and sat with the band during their quarter off during football games and the band directors knew me. Queen of Kentucky and Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe sound cute and fun!

August 15, 2013 - 11:34 am

Candice @ The Grown-Up YA - Fun post! I loved when it was time to go back to school. There was always something so exciting and fresh about it, despite the fact that I’d been there for a month already with band camp! I never thought about all the new friends I’d make, but rather all the old friends I’d get to see again. And shopping… whoa I LOVED it! Even though I really was a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal in high school, buying new clothes and pens was my favorite!

August 13, 2013 - 11:01 pm

Lucy @ The Reading Date - Hey, I was a band geek too! I played the flute in marching band in hs. Now I really need to read Band Geek Love.
Your post is very timely – we’re getting ready for back to school shopping this week.
Love your back to school book choices. Reece Malcolm is a fave, and I’m eager to check out Winger too. Good stuff as always!

August 13, 2013 - 8:22 pm

Tara @ Hobbitsies - You guys always have the prettiest freaking posts. Can you do all the graphics for my blog too? HAHA.

Anyway, I saw Winger at the bookstore today and was SO CLOSE to buying it. Man, now I want to go back to it. A million times yes to Queen of Kentucky and Going Vintage – loved both of those. Somehow I haven’t read the rest of the books on this post, but I need to! Moving some of these up on my TBR list πŸ™‚

August 13, 2013 - 7:26 pm

Rose @ The Bedtime Bookworm - I feel like I should read more YA contemporary, and I already thought I read quite a bit of it. I haven’t read any of these books! I have a few of them on my TBR list.

I can definitely relate to what Estelle wrote about back to school shopping – I did all of my clothes shopping with my mum (mostly because she’d buy me shoes. That’s a good reason, right??). The only problem was that my mum would conveniently forget that we were there to buy clothes for me, not her! She’d usually end up with a pile for herself double the size of my pile, though we were both expert sales shoppers!

August 13, 2013 - 10:02 am

Ginger @ GReads! - I like how we both chose Reece Malcolm List for a ‘back to school’ pick πŸ™‚ hehe. Such a great book! This was a fun post ladies. I’ve heard a lot about Dairy Queen.. and anything related to FNL is a definite win for me!

Alexa Y. - What great song choices girls! The only one I haven’t heard before is Unemployed Boyfriend, which is pretty great. But I totally think that the other three (Luke Bryan, Taylor Swift + Imagine Dragons) could definitely inspire a story or two.

August 1, 2013 - 9:18 pm

Allison L - Mmm. Luke Bryan! I would definitely read a book based on his songs. Especially if it were an audiobook … that he narrated .. can you imagine it? Your other choices are good too. Fun post once again! πŸ˜‰

picturemereading - I keep getting Radioactive in my head lately LOL I keep thinking it’s a great song for a number of YA dystopians I have read!

July 30, 2013 - 8:42 pm

Betty - What a fun post! Eeeek.. I think the Imagine Dragons song for sure— I love action and fighting in books, but obviously with some kissing on the side! πŸ˜‰
Oh, and thx for the shout out. <3

July 30, 2013 - 7:05 pm

Bookworm1858 - Yay for the Taylor Swift song-I adore Taylor (almost all of her songs) especially because so many could be the basis for books. She just has a way with words sometimes.

July 30, 2013 - 6:56 pm

Asheley Tart (@BookwormAsheley) - I like country music, but OLD country music like George Strait and Randy Travis and Clint Black and those guys. But you’re right, country music tells great stories, even the cheesy ones. Layla Greta and Jack absolutely LOVE Taylor Swift and Imagine Dragons so they’re on heavy rotation when we’re in the car, where I keep those actual CD’s. (I tend to keep my iPod on my actual person. Always. Like in my back pocket all the time. And I wear my earbuds inside of my clothes everyday, even right now as I sit in this chair commenting here on your blog. But that’s another story for another time.) This is fun, ladies, as always. xo

July 30, 2013 - 5:39 pm

April Books & Wine - I LOVE country music. That’s kind of all I listen to lately, so I am excited for the Luke Bryan and Taylor Swift picks.

Also, Radioactive, I don’t change the radio when it’s on.

July 30, 2013 - 2:43 pm

Hollie @ Music, Books and Tea - Unemployed Boyfriend is a great song…I would definitely love to read a book based off the song. Also, thanks for the introduction to Everclear – it seems like all their songs are perfect for summer!

July 30, 2013 - 2:07 pm

Jess @ Gone with the Words - LOVE THIS! You ladies picked some really great songs! I hadn’t heard Estelle’s picks before *hides* but I have now!! And I love them too!! πŸ˜€ I’ve actually blogged about this topic before, and I had picked a country song because they do tell such great stories, like Estelle said.
