Estelle’s Shelve It from 4/20/2013

Yes. You read that right! There’s actually a Shelve It + IT’S A V-LOG. Your eyes are not playing tricks on you! Sorry about the lack of these lately but between my Lent “break” from buying books, the eBooks I’ve been purchasing (which are no fun to show to you in a video), and this […]

Alexa Y. - That party was a lot of fun even though I was really nervous! It was definitely nice to catch up with blogger friends though, and to eat at LT Burger afterwards ๐Ÿ˜‰ We need to eat there again and soon!

April 21, 2013 - 5:51 pm

Bonnie - I really enjoyed The Eternity Cure! Even more than the first installment.. can’t wait for the next one! Gosh, I still need to get on it and read Pushing the Limits. Happy Reading!
My Showcase Sunday!

April 21, 2013 - 11:39 am

Ginger @ GReads! - Look at that necklace!! hehe ๐Ÿ˜‰ Estelle, I am proud of you for branching out to more paranormal. You know how much I love contemps, so I tend to be very picky with the paranormals I read, too. Hit me up for rec’s anytime! I hope your cold goes away soon deary. Loved SEEING you though, xoxo.

April 21, 2013 - 9:57 am

Mel@thedailyprophecy - The eternity cure!! I can’t wait, since I love The immortal rules.

Happy reading ๐Ÿ˜€

April Books & Wine - Ah, I wish I was going to read after leaving you a lovely comment, but alas, I have to sit at a health fair from like 10:30-2 p.m. Sigh.

Anyways, I loved your story about getting invested in Harlequin novels while on road trips with your mom. That’s so funny, but awesome too. And yay reading and yay parents reading. My mom and my grandma are total Harlequin readers too.

Man, that disney guidebook makes me want to go back, but alas, I cannot afford a vacation right now and refuse to take one until I’ve paid down my car. Sigh.

AND.

That party you mentioned sounds great — how cool that you got the opportunity to go! ๐Ÿ˜€

Happy reading!

April 21, 2013 - 1:27 am

Rebecca @ Reading Wishes - I’m a contemporary girl at heart too so I get where your coming from. Before I started blogging, it’s the only genre I used to read. But now, I can be found reading some paranormal and from time to time, the occasional sci-fi and dystopian. How come this is the first I’m hearing about Heartbeat! *runs to check out* Oh, that would probably be due to it not being on Goodreads yet! It sounds amazing though and super intense. Bloom is my favourite book of Elizabeth’s also ๐Ÿ™‚ Have fun reading!

April 20, 2013 - 11:48 pm

Sarah O - First of all, LOVE Elizabeth Scott. I’ve actually only read her four less intense contemporary books but I love them. I reread them a few months ago and I realized that Bloom is definitely my favourite, which I didn’t pick up on the first time around. She is the queen of writing misunderstandings where you totally understand both sides so it makes her MCs slightly frustrating but you still love them.

So I’ve read The Immortal Rules and I wasn’t a huge fan to be honest. I definitely wouldn’t buy the sequel but I might read it if I could borrow it. I remember it was around 400 pages and not enough of those were interesting to me to enjoy it overall. I do know that some people liked it, but it wasn’t for me. And even though contemporary is my favourite I read a lot of other genres.

So yes, so jealous of Heartbeat. I’ll definitely be picking that up!

Magan: Shelve It — April 7, 2013

Hey, hey friends! Happy Sunday! Thanks for stopping by for today’s Shelve It! It’s been a while since I’ve splurged on books. Have you seen all the amazing deals for the kindle and nook? Holy moly — so many good books are half off or cheaper right now. Take advantage of this, guys! Estelle and […]

VeganYANerds - Ooh, I hope Going Bovine is good, I have liked the last couple of Libba’s books that I’ve read!

And I too like both covers of Once Was Lost, I own the original – I hope you like it ๐Ÿ˜€

April 10, 2013 - 6:02 pm

Paige - I read Being Friends With Boys not long ago and I enjoyed it a lot, I know she has another book out I’m hoping to read that soon ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you enjoy everything you got this week.

April 8, 2013 - 6:09 pm

Leah @ The Pretty Good Gatsby - You know what, I actually really like the redesign! I’m usually pretty indifferent toward them (at best), but this one is simply lovely. I think it’s the font that does it for me.

HA! Thank you for reminding me that I really need to write my review for You Look Different.. I read it last month and while it definitely wasn’t bad, it was pretty bland and not very memorable. It made for an enjoyable afternoon read though. Hopefully you’ll like it a bit more than I did!

While I absolutely adore my local library, I’m WEEPING over their complete lack of Jennifer Echols! NOT A SINGLE BOOK. I’ve only heard the highest of praises in regards to her book and now it’s looking as though I’m going to have to dive in & buy them. I need to find out what I’m missing!

April 8, 2013 - 10:51 am

Dana - Awesome haul. I won’t be buying anything for a while because my review backlog is insane but I’ll be adding to my Goodreads TBR list for sure! Hope you enjoy all your books!

April 8, 2013 - 8:50 am

Ginger @ GReads! - I’ve tried to read Abbi Glines and just couldn’t do it. I’ll be curious if you feel the same or end up liking her stuff. Yay Sara Zarr! I know how much you love her ๐Ÿ™‚

April 8, 2013 - 1:37 am

Alexa Y. - I stopped myself after I bought three books off the Amazon sale (although I’m fairly certain I’m buying more soon). I got Being Friends with Boys as well, yay!

April 7, 2013 - 10:38 pm

Bookworm1858 - Awesome haul-I am looking forward to reading most of these too especially You Look Different in Real Life. Not sure about the redesign for Once Was Lost as I really liked the original.

April 7, 2013 - 9:43 pm

Amanda @ MarvelousCatoReviews - I actually bought Going Bovine recently, as well! I have been dying to read it, so I’m excited to finally have it in my collection.

April 7, 2013 - 4:30 pm

Laura @ the Booksmartie - Oh, I love all These contemporaries here – haven’t read one in a while ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, I like both covers for Sarah Zarr’s books, but I prefer the orig!inal title…it was more Special, I think

April 7, 2013 - 1:21 pm

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - Awwww, but it’s always lovely to see your pretty face in your vlog, books or no books ๐Ÿ™‚

Estelle’s Shelve It >> March 17, 2013

Happy Sunday friends! It’s St. Patrick’s Day… have you had green beer today? We aren’t much for celebrating the holiday but that’s okay… it’s been a nice productive weekend and I’m enjoying a River Horse American Amber Ale instead of something green. It’s been kind of a slow week in the book collecting world for […]

Alexa Y. - I love that little notebook that Quinn sent you! It’s totally adorable ๐Ÿ™‚

March 18, 2013 - 12:10 pm

Christina (A Reader of Fictions) - I absolutely loved The Trouble with Flirting and I hope you do too!!!

March 17, 2013 - 6:41 pm

Quinn @ Quinn's Book Nook - So glad you liked the notebook. I really need to stop buying books for a little while, too. Just to knock a few books off my own-but-haven’t-read pile. I might try to not buy books for a month, except for signings. Maybe. Still haven’t quite committed, though ๐Ÿ™‚

I definitely want to read The Trouble with Flirting. I liked Epic Fail – it was super cute.

Have a nice vacation! Happy reading ๐Ÿ™‚

March 17, 2013 - 6:31 pm

Brittany @ The Book Addict's Guide - Ohhh The Trouble With Flirting!!! I wasn’t expecting to like it so much but I thought it was suuuuper cute! ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you enjoy it!

Magan’s Shelve It for March 10, 2013

Oh, hello there. It’s been a while since I did a vlog for Shelve It. My weekends have been disgustingly busy since January, but here I am — enjoying a nice, quiet, rainy Saturday at home. (Hooray!!!) I just finished up one of the books I bought this week (Sean Griswold’s Head) last night so […]

Lena @ Addicted 2 Novels - I have REQUIEM, too! TWINSIES!!!

Amazon needs to deliver my copy of THINGS I CAN’T FORGET already before I completely lose it. AHHHH! AHHHH!!!!

Anywho, let me know what you think of them!

March 11, 2013 - 12:35 pm

Alexa Y. - M! I love your lipstick, and you look so pretty ๐Ÿ™‚ Nice to see you back on video.

Sounds like you’ve gotten a great selection of books this week. I’m especially curious about The Academy, as it sounds like something I’d enjoy. I’m loving these sports-centered books (which also reminds me that I need to read Miranda’s books!).

March 10, 2013 - 11:35 pm

Lisa the Nerd - Hello, beautiful! Yay for the vlog! I do need to read Sean Griswold’s Head too. I like your cover MUCH better than the hardcover…that helps it bump up my TBR too! ๐Ÿ™‚

March 10, 2013 - 6:01 pm

Magan - Aneeqah — you’re so sweet! Thanks, lady! It is so windy at our house too! CRAZY windy. We tried to go for a run this afternoon and I felt like I was having to work twice as hard. Needless to say, it was more of a run/walk! ๐Ÿ˜‰ You definitely do need to read a Miranda Kenneally book. They’re all fantastic. Read them in order because the characters make appearances and they all take place in the same town. I’m so glad you’re nervous about Requiem too. Thanks for your comment! Have a great spring break!

March 10, 2013 - 5:58 pm

Magan - Margie — you don’t know how much your comment made me excited. I was wondering if there was even the slightest chance I’d feel excited. I almost feel like I knew that maybe the ending wouldn’t be super happy or perfect, but I almost expect that. Lauren is a brilliant author so I don’t want/expect her to take the easy way out by tying everything up perfectly. Does that even make sense? haha

March 10, 2013 - 5:57 pm

Magan - Oh, G. You’re so right. I should have included a song. I’m playing his CD right now if that counts? ๐Ÿ˜‰

March 10, 2013 - 5:56 pm

Magan - Bookworm — I wish I had spring break too. Oh to be back in college again! ๐Ÿ™ I will be writing my review for SGH shortly. I loved it so much! So glad you did too!

March 10, 2013 - 5:56 pm

Magan - Jen — The Academy: Game On doesn’t have a cover on Netgalley so maybe it hasn’t stood out? I am so glad you’re going to request it! I’m glad you’re feeling the same way about Requiem. Seems so iffy. AHHH. And yes, SGH was so, so good. Glad you loved it too!

March 10, 2013 - 5:54 pm

Magan - Mandee, somehow I had never heard of Sean Griswold’s Head — I don’t see it around on the blogosphere very much. It’s a few years old so maybe that’s why, but wow — so good! Hope you had a lovely weekend!

March 10, 2013 - 3:04 pm

Aneeqah @ My Not So Real Life - Magan, your v-logs are always so great to watch!! It was nice and stormy here last night as well, and now it’s just plain windy! So it’s definitely a great time to cuddle up with a book. And thank GOODNESS that I’m finally on spring break, and you’re totally right, I don’t even know what I’m going to do with my life without homework, haha. ๐Ÿ˜‰

But anyways, I really need to pick up a Miranda Kenneally book, especially because you’ve read all but this one! And I’m totally on the same boat as you for Requiem- I want to read it so badly, yet I don’t want to either. I’m scared that it’s going to disappoint such a great series for me.

Anyways, lovely haul, Magan! Enjoy your books and have a fantastic, relaxing weekend. <3

March 10, 2013 - 2:07 pm

Margie aka The Bumble Girl - Great books, Magan! I really loved REQUIEM! Not at first, but the more I read, the more I was liking it all! And the end, which seems to be everyone’s issues, lol, I loved and can live with it! In fact, I want to rip the last page out and frame it… might have to do that to a paperback (eeep!)
Enjoy your new reads! xo

March 10, 2013 - 1:22 pm

Ginger @ GReads! - The only thing missing from this vlog… PHILLIP PHILLIPS hahaha. Seriously. He would have been a great soundtrack ๐Ÿ˜‰

March 10, 2013 - 10:21 am

Bookworm1858 - Oh how I wish I had a spring break-I would love to spend a lot more time reading! Alas the workweek calls to me ๐Ÿ™ Looking forward to your review of Sean Griswold’s Head-it’s one of my favorite books.

March 10, 2013 - 8:58 am

Jen - Oooooh! Game On looks adorable. Why haven’t I seen this on NetGalley? I will definitely go and request like, immediately. And YAY, Requiem, though I am petrified by everyone’s lukewarm reviews. I still have to read Pandemonium, so I think I’m going to be binging on this series some weekend in the near future! And YAY, Sean Griswold’s Head. FANTASTIC book.

March 10, 2013 - 3:24 am

VeganYANerds - Sean Griswold’s Head sounds so good, I’m sure I’ve heard of it before but I must have forgotten about it. Love that you stayed up reading it & I am a fan of heavy/sad books.

I’m looking forward to Requiem, but I’m not jumping up and down for it. I hope it doesn’t let you down!

Enjoy your weekend off xox

Hi friends! We’re here together this week (but not really together, sigh) for Shelve It, sharing some of the latest books that have popped up at our post office or in our inboxes. It’s kind of a quiet week since Estelle is still on her “book buying ban” so we thought this was the best […]

March 3, 2013 - 10:27 am

Estelle’s Shelve It >> 2/21/2013

I’ve realized something tonight… filming a Shelve It v-log is not as much fun if you are alone. Sadface! I miss Magan. A lot. But, alas, here I am in New York while she is out bowling tonight. (I hope she gets some strikes!) Anyway, I’m a little late with my bi-weekly post but I […]

Alexa Y. - I love all the birthday love you received and shared in this post!

I’m not surprised Elena gave you CNV, as she gifted it to me to for my birthday… She’s the biggest book pusher for that book, and it’s worth the time, trust me.

And I’m curious to see what you have to say about Shadow & Bone if you get around to reading it!

Also, totally jealous you have the Bombshell album. I WANT.
