Shelve It: May 20, 2012

Welcome to another Shelve It! This week I’ve got four books I bought (uh-oh.) and one I received from Bloomsbury via a giveaway! Friday, on Twitter, I asked what your favorite summer reads were, hoping to find some books out of my norm and to branch away from my go-to authors. I’d love to […]

Hannah @ So Obsessed With - I really enjoyed Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour – it’s definitely a good summer read! And, if you want to mix things up a little this summer, I really love Emily Giffin. She writes adult chick lit type books, but they are PERFECT for the pool or beach. My favorite is Love the One You’re With – READ IT!

May 22, 2012 - 11:29 am

Jess @ Gone with the Words - Because I didn’t yell it enough on twitter…THIS LULLABY!! ๐Ÿ˜€

May 21, 2012 - 10:43 pm

Magan - Thanks, Mandee! Our living room is a wide variety of colors. Well, the decorations are. The room itself is pretty neutral (grey) in color. ๐Ÿ™‚ Lemme know if you need Amy & Roger sent to you!

May 21, 2012 - 10:42 pm

Magan - Ginger and Nea – I’m SO EXCITED about Amy & Roger! I might have to start it sooner than vacation because I just want to read it so badly!

May 21, 2012 - 10:41 pm

Magan - ANNA! It’s because of you and Mandee that I bought it! Hoping I fall in love with it like you did. ๐Ÿ™‚

May 21, 2012 - 9:28 am

Anna - YES! I loved Code Name Verity!!!!!!

May 20, 2012 - 8:09 pm

Ginger @ GReads! - I can’t wait til you read Amy & Roger!! It’s one of my most favorite contemps ๐Ÿ™‚ It will be perfect for a vacation read! Also, you MUST tell me what you think of This Lullaby when you finish.

P.S. Cute shirt! & Hi D! haha

May 20, 2012 - 7:10 pm

nea barabea - Wow. Roger and Amy – is such a beautiful book! And This lullaby – I’ve heard so so many good things about it! I hope you’ll enjoy all your awesome book this week ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ™‚

May 20, 2012 - 7:03 pm

VeganYANerds - Hey Magan, great vlog! I really love the green accents in your room <3

I definitely want to pick up Amy & Roger, especially is Estelle liked it and you got some great recs for summer reads, I'll be adding some of them to my list too!

And I completely understand how you feel about WWII books and while I rate Code Name Verity a 10 for sadness, it's definitely different to The Book Thief and it did leave me feeling really down for a few days. So when you read it, I will send you virtual hugs ๐Ÿ™‚ xox

May 20, 2012 - 6:27 pm

ShootingStarsMag - I still need to read Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour, but I do own it, so I’m in the right direction. haha It looks great though, and it’s a perfect read for this summer.

May 20, 2012 - 5:49 pm

Paige - You got some awesome books this week! I can’t wait to read Revived because I love the cover and Code Name Verity because I’ve had it on my kindle for awhile! I also really need to catch up on Sarah Dessen books because I’ve only read one! Anyways I hope you enjoy everything you got this week and here’s my IMM!

May 20, 2012 - 1:47 pm

Magan - Elena, we’re like book twins. Seriously – the way books affect us. I will need to be in the right frame of mind for Code Name Verity, but I do look forward to it. I suppose it’s nice to be reminded of things that did happen so as not to forget.

May 20, 2012 - 1:46 pm

Magan - Hi Elizabeth! You WIN for best comment ever! Thank yo uso much for the suggestions. I’m headed to Goodreads right now to check out these authors! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m also headed to your blog. Love the name!

May 20, 2012 - 1:44 pm

Magan - YAY! I hope you love it when you do, Nicole! I’ve added it to my TBR list as well!

May 20, 2012 - 1:44 pm

Magan - Melissa, thanks for confirming Dessen’s books for me! I’ve read The Truth About Forever, but can’t wait to crack open the pages of This Lullaby! Also, I usually don’t read much MG, but will check into that book. Sometimes changing things up can make a world of difference! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks, lady!

May 20, 2012 - 1:25 pm

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - I wholeheartedly second the recommendations for This Lullaby and The Truth About Forever. These are definitely her two best books (and I’ve read them ALL), but The Truth About Forever is my absolute favourite.

I don’t know if you read much middle grade (I don’t usually, but made an exception for this one because Wendy Darling loved it so much), but I just read Wonder by R.J. Palacio last weekend and absolutely LOVED it. It’s such a feel good read, with a great story and loveable characters. I’d highly recommend it!

May 20, 2012 - 12:58 pm

Nicole - Oooo, I’ve been meaning to read AVALON HIGH!

May 20, 2012 - 10:16 am

Elizabeth - I am so glad I stumbled upon your site!

I am always looking for something good to read and I read an ecclectic mix of things.

For summer, I really enjoy light hearted books. We are constantly on the go and it’s nice to have a book to pick up and just enjoy.

I used to be completely opposed to chick lit, but in the past few years I have really enjoyed a lot of books others would consider this genre.

I love Kristan Higgans…the covers of the books are very girly, and some might pas them over for cheap romance novels but they are nothing of the sort. She is wonderful at creating characters that are flawed yet relatable and loveable. She has a great dialogue and sweet stories. She is also fun to follow in FB.

Another summer favorite is Elin Hildrebrand. All of her books are based in Nantucket and have interesting plots and characters. Good beach reads.

Kristin Hannah is another favorite, although her last book wasn’t my favorite.

I like Jodi Picoult as well but I have read everything out there of hers.

Would love to find something great to read now!

May 20, 2012 - 10:03 am

elena - THIS LULLABY!!!!! Along with The Truth About Forever, it’s my favourite by her. I hope you like Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour. I haven’t read The Book Thief yet but I know I need to! I’m very wary of WWII books because they make me incredibly anxious and as you said, it breaks my heart. Ooh, I just remembered! I think the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series by Ann Brashares would be a good summer read!

You look really cute in the video, btw, and I love all the mint greenness going on in your background. ๐Ÿ™‚

Shelve It: May 6, 2012

How have two weeks passed by since my last vlog? SO much has happened in the last few weeks, but thankfully, life will be slowing down soon. Both Estelle and I will be going with our hubbies on vacation in June, so we’ve been discussing books and what we’ll take along with us. (Who needs […]

Magan - Liz! I hope you love In Honor and Second Chance Summer. Two beautifully written books. I loved them both so, so much! ๐Ÿ™‚

May 9, 2012 - 10:36 am

Magan - Thanks for the heads up about Hourglass, Karen. I will definitely re-read after you said this. AND YAY FOR KALEB. I can’t wait to read from his POV!

May 9, 2012 - 10:35 am

Magan - Elena! I hope I like it too! Flirting in Italian was a huge disappointment, however. And will definitely re-read Hourglass because that’s how I felt about it too – MAKEOUTS! (!!!!). Hahah. You’re so welcome for the link! xoxo

May 9, 2012 - 10:34 am

Magan - I’m a terrible list maker when it comes to reading, Sash. TERRRIBLE. You’re so welcome for the link! Loved that post. ๐Ÿ™‚

May 9, 2012 - 10:30 am

Magan - Margie! Hahaha to your comment about What’s Left of Me! I really hope I like it. *crosses fingers*
And yay to you adding those books to your TBR pile! ๐Ÿ™‚ Start with Second Chance Summer since, ya know, it came out YESTERDAY!

May 9, 2012 - 10:24 am

Magan - I think the cover of What’s Left of Me is really striking, too, Aneeqah! I’m super excited to pick up that one!

May 9, 2012 - 10:22 am

Magan - Thanks, Brittani! Ahhhh! Go back to your bookstore and pick up SECOND CHANCE SUMMER! SO, SO GOOD!

May 9, 2012 - 10:22 am

Magan - Laura, most people told me to re-read Hourglass. McEntire doesn’t do a lot of re-telling.
I would definitely re-read Divergent if I were you. However! Veronica Roth did post a re-cap spoiler post to remind people of what went down in Divergent. ๐Ÿ™‚

May 9, 2012 - 10:20 am

Magan - Thanks, Nea! So excited for Timepiece!!

May 9, 2012 - 10:19 am

Magan - Hannah, YOU WIN. You, my friend, are the best commenter. Thanks so much for this! YOU MADE MY DAY!
1. Thanks for the compliment on the hair. It was actually a terrible hair day. The fishatail saved me.
2. The lipgloss color is 24/7 by Smashbox. It’s my go-to fave.
3. Kissing scenes. Always kissing scenes. Yes, please.
4. Have you read any other Kody Keplinger? If not, DO!
5. Go back to your bookstore and buy Second Chance Summer. ASAP!
6. Thanks!!
7. HOP ON THE DIVERGENT TRAIN! And yes, Estelle just finished Divergent today. She’s a convert!
8. YES WE LOOOOOOOVE YOU! ๐Ÿ™‚
9. ESTELLE rocked it with the Biebs and Duff last week!
10. We love, love long comments. See above. ๐Ÿ™‚

May 9, 2012 - 10:13 am

Magan - Thanks, Mandee! WOOO! So glad you’re going to read Hourglass & Timepiece! And yes, my husband cracked up about the dog in the background. She was just doing her own thing… walking around, taking a stroll. Smelling all the same usual things. Haha. ๐Ÿ™‚

May 7, 2012 - 4:54 pm

Paige - I’ve seen What’s Left Of Me around a lot and it sounds really good! I also really love the cover. Flirting In Italian looks so cute, I cannot wait to read that =) I hope you enjoy everything and here’s my IMM!

VeganYANerds - Lovely vlog, as usual, Magan!

I got Timepiece on Netgalley so I ordered myself a copy of Hourglass, and I’m so glad you liked it, I’ll get to it soon!

Ooh I spied one of your pups in the background <3

May 6, 2012 - 7:47 pm

Hannah @ So Obsessed With - Here were my thoughts while reading this post:
1. Dang, Magan’s hair looks good. I love that fishtail braid. My hair needs to grow faster so I can do this.
2. I like that lipgloss color. It look so good on Magan!
3. Kissing scenes. Ha! I like that she’s using that as a selling point for the book ๐Ÿ™‚
4. Ah I like that cover (A Midsummer’s Nightmare). I want to read this book. I want to take this book on vacation with me. Ooohhh, I need to go get a hat like that one for vacation.
5. I want to read SECOND CHANCE SUMMER so bad. It’s already in a bookstore near me, and I was barely able to tear myself away from it. I just can’t buy another book right now… Why did I walk away from it? Should I go get it? Of course I should, who am I kidding?
6. Oh, I loved Anna’s confessions post, too. What a great blog post to include!
7. All this talk about Insurgent is reminding me that I STILL need to read Divergent. I know, I know. It’s on my list! I’ll get to it soon, I promise. And didn’t Magan say it was a re-read for her? I really need to read it. I wonder if Estelle has read it yet. Hmm…
8. OMG THAT’S ME! Did they really say they hardcore love me? AHH! I love them, too! And my heart is very happy ๐Ÿ™‚ And they’re obsessed with lists. SO AM I! We need to be friends forever.
9. Oh, they had some good reviews this week with Hilary Duff & Justin Bieber references. Those made me really happy.
10. I hope they really do like lists since I just left a heck of a long one… ๐Ÿ™‚

May 6, 2012 - 6:30 pm

nea barabea - Awww, Timepiece and Flirting in Italian!! Enjoy all your awesome books this week ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ™‚

May 6, 2012 - 5:44 pm

Laura @ The Traveling Owl - Great haul.

I’d love to know what others say about Timepiece. That’s the next book in my TBR pile.

I’m like you when it comes to reading second books in series. I re-read the first book so I can get caught up. In fact, I haven’t started Insurgent for that very reason. To re-read Divergent and Timepiece, or not. That’s certainly the question.

Super excited for Flirting in Italian as well.

Laura @ The Traveling Owl

May 6, 2012 - 5:06 pm

Brittani - I got Timepiece a week or two ago! I’m so jealous of Flirting In Italian! I cant wait to read that book! And I actually saw Second Chance Summer on the shelves at my Barnes & Noble on Friday. Awesome set of books this week! ๐Ÿ™‚

May 6, 2012 - 1:31 pm

Aneeqah - What’s Left of Me sounds so interesting, I can’t wait to read it! The cover is especially gorgeous. =) Second Chance Summer sounds like such a cute contemporary read, I’m excited to pick it up when it releases.

Happy reading! =)

May 6, 2012 - 12:31 pm

margie c {the bumble girl} - Hmmm, What’s Left of Me really intrigues me. Sounds like something out of a dream, a not so good dream. I think I’m going to wait to see what you think of it before I decide whether or not this is a read for me – my imagination tends to run a bit too much for stories like this, lol!
I try not to create actual TBRs for myself, I’m like you, my reads fit my mood, and sometimes that makes it difficult to review a book on time.
Flirting in Italian and A Midsummer’s Nightmare are on my list! and thanks to your FB mention, so is Second Chance Summer ๐Ÿ™‚
Love your vlogs, thanks for sharing!!!

May 6, 2012 - 10:56 am

Sash from Sash and Em - You make TBRs like I do ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t plan them out because when I do, I end up changing it anyway.

Also, I’m reading Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour and loving it so I will have to pick up Second Chance Summer this week. ๐Ÿ™‚

ps – thanks for the linky to our Insurgent review!

xo

May 6, 2012 - 10:40 am

elena - AHHHHH YOU GOT WHAT’S LEFT OF ME?! I am flaily hands for that book, it sounds so good! Also, I have been meaning to write a gushy email to Kat Zhang because she’s 21, wowza. September is too far away! I can’t wait to hear what you think about it.

Those bookplates are so cute! I started reading Timepiece but I don’t think I got past the first chapter yet since I don’t remember what happened in Hourglass. I asked my co-blogger what she remembers from Hourglass and she said MAKEOUTS! and a Doctor Who reference. So I would probably recommend rereading Hourglass beforehand.

I really hope Flirting in Italian is in the same vein Stephanie Perkins writes couples too. I think that’s really her strong point. Second Chance Summer sounds wonderful, I will try to check my B&N soon.

Thank you for linking us. <3

May 6, 2012 - 10:05 am

Karen - Wow! I love that cover for What’s Left of Me.

I agree with you about Hourglass. I don’t usually like time travel stories but this one really works.

I would recommend re-reading Hourglass before Timepiece. It had been a year since I read it and I was slightly confused because Myra doesn’t really recap plus it’s from a different POV. Myra has recaps on her website if you would rather do that. I loved the book though.

P.S. If you like kissing…..Timepiece…..Kaleb…..um yeah ….good kissing there.

May 6, 2012 - 10:04 am

Liz - I am crazy excited for Second Chance Summer, I have it on pre-order with Jessi Kirby’s In Honor and I have seriously counting down the days until May 8th for months now. So glad to hear people say that it is amazing.

What’s Left of Me sounds really interesting… totally different from what I normally read but it is now on my to-read list. I’ll be interested to know what you think about it.

Magan - Kathryn, thanks so much! Definitely excited about Cinder, too!

April 23, 2012 - 2:13 pm

Magan - Ah, Joy! Veronica was one of the first authors I’ve ever met. I went to a signing of hers in Austin last June and was literally speechless. I had no idea what to say. I felt like such a fangirl! TOTALLY speechless! Thanks so much for your comment! ๐Ÿ™‚

April 23, 2012 - 2:12 pm

Magan - Estelle, you are my favorite. Obviously. I love that you know… you commented on our blog. ๐Ÿ™‚ xoxoxoxoxo

Magan - I’m so glad to hear that Paige! Thanks so much for your sweet comment! Enjoy the remainder of the summer series! ๐Ÿ™‚

April 23, 2012 - 2:11 pm

Magan - Elena, give the summer series another try! The whole series is really wonderful. I consumed all three books in less than 24 hours. I couldn’t put them down. Thanks for the heads up about The Fine Art of Truth or Dare. I have read lots of mixed reviews of it. Tahereh is alos one of MY favorite people, too! ๐Ÿ™‚

April 23, 2012 - 2:09 pm

Magan - Thanks, Mands! I love the cover of Meant to Be, too. I really can’t wait to read it. Feeling extremely perplexed about how I’ll manage all my reading! Haha ๐Ÿ™‚

April 23, 2012 - 9:00 am

Added 2 of these books to my own list. So glad you had a great time at your bookish events and got to meet some great people! I think we need to trade some tips on how to not be awkward when you meet authors. Sigh. NEXT TIME.

April 22, 2012 - 11:18 pm

Paige - I just finished The Summer I Turned Pretty and I really loved it. I can’t wait to read the second book! I hope you enjoy everything you got this week. Here’s my IMM!

elena - I skimmed through We’ll Always Have Summer but wasn’t really interested in it. I think it’s because it wasn’t the right time for me, I’m going to try it again! Love summer reads. I’m really curious what you’ll think about The Fine Art of Truth or Dare! I liked it a lot when I read it but when I thought about it, I didn’t like it as much, ha. I’m going to try to reread Divergent too before I read Insurgent! So excited to hear about Tahereh Mafi and Veronica Rossi. Tahereh has one of my favourite personalities of YA authors. I bet you’ll have a lot of fun! ๐Ÿ˜€

April 22, 2012 - 8:29 pm

VeganYANerds - I love your llog, Magan and thanks for the kind words about mine this week! <3

I LOVE the cover of Meant to Be, I want it for the cover alone as well as Second Chance Summer.

Also, I was sure my bf would laugh at my vlog but he was actually really nice when he was helping me upload it. Yours is not at all too girly, not that being girly is a bad thing ๐Ÿ˜‰

April 22, 2012 - 7:42 pm

Magan - Hey Amy! It would have been SO great to see you again! I only went for a day because I couldn’t take off too long from work either. Really hoping that you and I can meet up again soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

April 22, 2012 - 7:41 pm

Magan - Nea, I’m so glad you said you liked The Fine Art of Truth or Dare. I’ve heard it’s sort of a mixed feelings book, so I’m definitely giving it a go. I’ll let you know what I think! Thanks so much for your comment!

April 22, 2012 - 7:40 pm

Magan - Haha, thanks Margie! I know, silly husband! I guess I assumed he’d seen other IMM posts by me, but I suppose he hasn’t been watching like I thought (*shoots husband the evil eye*). You know, the lines were not terrible AT all for most of these books. The longest one was for Insurgent, but we were maybe there for an hour. Maybe. ๐Ÿ™‚

April 22, 2012 - 7:38 pm

Magan - Thanks, Laura! I’m so excited about these books. The conference was a ton of fun. If you EVER get the chance to go to an event (TLA was $25!) you should go. Meeting the people is absolutely incredible! And yes, hoping Insurgent lands in your hands early on May 1st! ๐Ÿ™‚

April 22, 2012 - 7:12 pm

Laura @ The Traveling Owl - What a great group of books you got. Sounds like y’all had fun at the conference.

I have to say, majorly jealous about Insurgent. I’ve pre-ordered my copy. Just waiting for May 1 to get here.

Happy reading!

Amy @ bookgoonie - Awesome, Beautiful books. I really wanted to go to TLA, but taking off the week before TAKS testing would earn me a pink slip.

April 22, 2012 - 2:47 pm

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - Wow — what an awesome batch of books you got! I wish Vancouver would have a bookish event like the ones that you’ve been able to attend! That’s sooooo cool that you met so many authors too, and got your books signed! I think I would probably die if I met Veronica Roth. I’m so excited for Insurgent, I can barely stand it. And I have to wait an extra week so that I can order it with City of Lost Souls and get free shipping. *pouts*

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on my IMM — I agree with you that book friends are the bestest! I can’t WAIT to read Variant too! xoxo

Katie @ BlookGirl - You were at TXLA, too?! DARN! It seems I missed a lot of wonderful bloggers while I got lost in the aisles. LOL. Wish I could have met you, but definitely next time!

I am SO incredibly excited for INSURGENT. Since I didn’t get to snag the ARC at TXLA, I did the next best thing and pre-ordered it at Veronica Roth’s book signing last night ๐Ÿ˜‰ Not too much longer to wait!

CINDER is absolutely amazing, and is my favorite read of 2012 thus far. I really hope you enjoy it. Isn’t it wonderful to have such amazing, generous friends? Go Jess! ๐Ÿ™‚

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish! Today we have compiled a list of 5 books each that have tricked us somehow. Was it because of faulty cover art? Was the summary in the back completely different than the actual contents of the book? Or did you expect […]

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - I love how unique this topic is – it’s awesome! And the books that you guys mentioned sound like a lot of fun to read. So far, I’ve only read 3/10… We’ll see how I feel about the rest!

In My Mailbox: April 15, 2012 - […] Death’s Blue-Eyed Girls by Mary Downing Hahn (E) Seeing Cinderella by Jenny Lundquist (M) Top 10 Books that were Totally Deceiving Jersey Angel by Beth Ann Baumann […]

April 12, 2012 - 1:18 pm

Elise - Magan, I usually hate to be deceptive, but in this case I’m thrilled Populazzi made your “totally deceiving” list. Thanks for the kind words! Estelle, I’m excited to hear that Princesses of Iowa is terrific. I know Molly from The Debutante Ball, and her book is high on my TBR list!

Jasmine Rose - I just sat here and laughed to myself because OWFL sounds kind of like “awful” in my head ๐Ÿ˜›
I totally agree about Matched/Crossed. I loved Matched but Crossed didn’t feel like a part of the same series.
Noooo! I’m so sad you didn’t like The Probability of Miracles. I recently read it and adored it, but I like a good non/minimal romance sometimes.

April 11, 2012 - 10:34 am

Jenny - Magan, I totally agreed with you on Crossed. I loved Matched. I loved it more than The Hunger Games. I was so excited to read Crossed, and I still haven’t finished it. It is so boring and slow that I haven’t been able to get through it. I am glad it’s not me! I keep saying I will finish it, but there are always better books I’m wanting to read more than that one!

April 10, 2012 - 10:11 pm

Christina (BookTasty) - I’m laughing at myself b/c I actually really like the Anna cover and it has been on everyone’s list today! haha I guess I’m missing something. Oh well ๐Ÿ™‚

April 10, 2012 - 8:50 pm

Lena - YES! I agree with almost everything in y’all’s list. ANNA has such a terrible cover, but it’s soooo ridiculously good! I was also really upset with CROSSED. I liked the cover more MATCHED, however, the story fell extremely flat. Le sigh.

April 10, 2012 - 7:19 pm

Hannah @ so obsessed with - I completely agree with you on Crossed! I really liked Matched and just finished Crossed two days ago… It wasn’t at all like I expected. I still have hope for the third book, but I’m going to be frustrated if it’s a letdown, too. Anna and the French Kiss also made my list. I really wish they’d given it a better cover!

April 10, 2012 - 4:27 pm

elena - The Princesses of Iowa and Anna and the French Kiss are definitely two books suffering from their title. I wouldn’t have even picked up Anna without all the praise either and of course, I fell in love! The Princesses of Iowa sound like a reality show for me but after your review, I’m going to give it a shot. Eek, I thought The Disenchantments had a female POV too! In fact, it’s waiting in the library for me now. I’m going to have to readjust my expectations for the book. Fantastic list, the both you of you! Now I have books on my TBR that I wouldn’t have taken a second glance at. Never judge a book by its title, I guess.

April 10, 2012 - 2:25 pm

BarefootMedStudent - The only book I’ve read (or heard of) is Anna, and that one is on my list too!

April 10, 2012 - 2:18 pm

Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl - I love that Anna is popping up everywhere. I wish publishers would pay more attention to what their covers are telling people.

Magan, I’m reading Crossed right now, and I’m only 30 pages in, but I already know exactly what you’re talking about. I’m quite frustrated with it, and am actually setting it aside for now in the hopes that I will like it more later.

Great choices, girls! Some of them I already own and am more excited to read now, and some of them I’ll have to go look for!

April 10, 2012 - 2:04 pm

April Books & Wine - I’m glad the Populazzi cover is deceiving because when I saw the cover, I was like this looks dumb, but in fact your description makes it sound good.

ALSO I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME ABOUT ANNA. Like, what a crap cover for such a wonderful book.

April 10, 2012 - 1:25 pm

Angela @ AJ Arndt Books Blog - Anna sure made it onto a lot of Top Tens this week! Great list guys.

April 10, 2012 - 11:29 am

Sharon @ Fictionally Inclined - Anna and the French Kiss is on my list, as well.

Great list! There are a couple on there I’d never seen before, but they look very promising!

April 10, 2012 - 10:06 am

TeacherMotherReader - Me & Earl & the Dying Girl is on my list too. I just didn’t think I would like the characters that much by the end of the book. I laughed my butt off, then I cried and cried. ๐Ÿ™ My review hits my blog this week.

April 10, 2012 - 9:59 am

Kristin - Ok, I guess i really need to read Anna and the French Kiss, the cover whenever I look at it screams way to YA for me lol but everyone seems to love it.

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - Estelle — you MUST read Divergent. It is fantastic. That is all.

P.S. I think I almost need to stop reading your blog for a while, because I keep putting books on hold at the library based on your reviews and IMMs. Seriously. Hubby currently thinks that I’m trying to move the library’s entire collection into our house.

Magan - Mands, YAY! So glad you added Variant! Let’s read it together. ๐Ÿ™‚

April 8, 2012 - 9:18 am

Magan - Elena, you should definitely give Under the Never Sky a try. It was a little slow for me in the beginning, but I really enjoyed it overall. Great description of Divergent, too! Thanks for the comment!

Ginger @ GReads! - First of all, YOU ARE SO PRETTY! I love your hair & I want it ๐Ÿ™‚ haha and second, those owl bookmarks are the cutest!

elena - I’ve heard mixed things about Under the Never Sky but I really want to give it a shot! I need to reread Divergent too before Insurgent comes out. Hee, I love that she wrote “choose wisely.” I think you should start a petition or something for Estelle to read Divergent because she’s missing out! My friend describes it as, “The Hunger Games meets an elaborate Myers-Briggs test.” Also people are sorted into intense, dystopian Hogwarts styled factions. Your bookmarks are super cute. I really like the cupcake and punctuation ones too. Hope you enjoy your books!
