November 11, 2013 - 3:42 pm

Maggie @ Just a Couple More Pages - Corinne Demas was my first year seminar professor in college. I requested Returning to Shore on NG, but got declined. Which is fine, I more just wanted to read it because I hated her as a professor, haha.

November 10, 2013 - 12:31 pm

Lucy @ The Reading Date - Lots of great looking 2014 titles! INK and Going Rogue are a couple I’m eager to read.
Enjoy!

November 10, 2013 - 11:56 am

Bookworm1858 - I have a lot of those same books to read too-they all look so intriguing!

I’m hoping to read some more adult books like Booker winner The Luminaries as well as business/leadership non-fiction to aid in my professional development. So that will make 2014 an interesting mix of YA, MG, even some NA and then adult stuff.

Congrats again on 2 years!

Happy 2nd Anniversary to Rather Be Reading!

November 5, 2013 - 10:40 pm

Lisa - Will you read The Monstrumologist, please? It’s kinda dark but methinks you will love the maturity and general awesomeness of it.

CONGRATS TO TWO YEARS!! oxo

November 5, 2013 - 10:24 pm

Emma @ Hopeful Happiness - I just became a new parent earlier this month so my book recommendation is really more for Magan. While pregnant I read just about everything I could get my hands on. I was pretty terrified of giving birth and found that the book Natural Hospital Birth: The Best of Both Worlds by Cynthia Gabriel was incredibly comforting. I actually found myself thinking of random phrases from the book while in labor. I think it’s a book that is fantastic and helpful even if you don’t necessarily want a natural birth.

I would also recommend Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Newborn: The Complete Guide. I learned so much from that book!

Congrats on blogging for 2 years! That is awesome!!

November 5, 2013 - 10:21 pm

Colleen - Happy Blogoversary! Wow, two years is a long time. That’s great. I’m reading Until It Hurts To Stop right now and it’s pretty good, but I’m behind in reading it so most people have probably already read it.

November 5, 2013 - 9:36 pm

Lisa - Two years! This is one of my favorite blogs and I’m so happy to have it to read. I love everything you girls do. Keep it up!

Book recommendations are always so hard because I want to tell people to read EVERYTHING. One of my favorite books this year was In the Shadow of Black Birds by Cat Winters. It’s sooo good. Amelia Anne is Dead and Gone was also very good. And oh my god. I finished The Fault in Our Stars a week ago and loooved it. I was putting it off because of the hype and it being a “cancer book” and everything, but it’s so worth it. I mean, I was probably the last person to read it, but on the off chance that one or both of you haven’t, it’s definitely worth the time (and tears!).

November 5, 2013 - 9:03 pm

Randi M - Happy blogoversary! 🙂 Two years is a loooong time! Winger is one of my all-time faves as well, and I can’t wait to read more from Andrew Smith.

I recommend Reality Boy & Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King.

November 5, 2013 - 8:40 pm

Sara (of The Page Sage) - Happy blogoversary, ladies!! Congrats!

November 5, 2013 - 8:21 pm

Ambur - I can never just think of one book to recommend (plus, you might have read just the one :P), so I’m gonna give a couple of books that I’ve read and absolutely loved!

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness—such a beautiful story about dealing with serious illness and loss
Second Chance Summmer by Morgan Matson (or Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour)—seriously I LOVE Morgan Matson!! She’s amazing and her stories are so beautiful, funny, and REAL!
The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen—I’m a Dessen fan, and this one happens to be my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE of all of her books that I’ve read…it’s so amazing, seriously…Love it!
Tyger Tyger by Kersten Hamilton (and the rest of the Goblin Wars trilogy)—this trilogy just doesn’t get nearly enough love. 😛 It’s one of my favourites, and it’s just so unique and wonderful! The characters and writing are fabulous, and it’s one of those trilogies that you’ll love right to the very end.

…and my final suggestion, Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren (and the rest of the Beautiful Bastard Series)—this one’s an adult series, but it’s SOOO good! The characters are awesome, the chemistry is phenomenal, and the humour is spectacular! I love books that make me feel all warm and gushy with feelings, but also make me laugh (as a side note, Alice Clayton’s Wallbanger is another book that fits this!).

Okay! Hopefully one of those sounds good to either of you, and you haven’t read them all! ;D Happy reading, and Congratulations on your 2nd Blogaversary!!!! 😀
HAPPY READING!
Ambur

November 5, 2013 - 6:27 pm

Mandy R - My last 5* book was Anna Dressed in Blood. The Darkest Minds is also very good.

November 5, 2013 - 5:24 pm

Chenise J. - Congrats on your two year blogoversary! Such an awesome feat! If you haven’t read Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas, I’d definitely recommend this one. Great mystery!

November 5, 2013 - 4:47 pm

November 5, 2013 - 2:40 pm

Melanie L - I am so happy for you guys, seriously this is one of my favorite blog sites so congrats! =)

Tammy - Boy Nobody by Allen Zadoff

November 5, 2013 - 1:33 pm

Summer - Congratulations on your anniversary! I love the blog, I’m forever finding great new reads thanks to you. As far as a recommendation, I don’t know if you’ve read it, but I just finished Fangirl, and I adored everything about it, the characters were remarkably real.

November 5, 2013 - 1:25 pm

Kelly G. - Happy blogoversary!

Book recommendation? Red Rising by Pierce Brown totally lived up to all the hype.

November 5, 2013 - 1:15 pm

Ami - I’m not a frequent commenter but wanted to chime in and say congrats on 2 years! I love the blog. Ever since discovering it my Goodreads “to-read” list has been very long!

November 5, 2013 - 12:33 pm

Justine @ paperback heart - YAAAY! Congratulations on two fabulous years!
My recommendation is Gorgeous by Paul Rudnick. It was one of my favorite books this year and tons of fun.

November 5, 2013 - 12:04 pm

Amanda @ Hell-Bent to Read - *pops champagne* HAPPY 2 YEARS!

Rachel - *throws confetti* Happy anniversary!!! I can’t believe you guys have been blogging for two years. It’s been so great getting to know you two, both IRL and online (Magan, I need to meet you sometime!) and I’m really glad I have your friendship. Your blog has always been one of my favorites and I can’t wait to see what the future brings for you and your blog. Congrats guys! Oh. And a book recommendation? Hmm. The last book I loved was Personal Effects by E. M. Kokie, so I guess I’d recommend that if you haven’t read it yet!

November 5, 2013 - 10:37 am

Jen - I don’t comment a lot, but I love your blog. Thanks for all teh great reading recs!

November 5, 2013 - 10:33 am

Jess @ Gone with the Words - First, CONGRATULATIONS on an amazing two years. Second, I’m so happy I’ve been able to get to know each of you more and more these past two years. Jackie Lea Sommers - You two are the best! And what a fun giveaway!!!

November 5, 2013 - 9:56 am

Lucy @ The Reading Date - Happy 2 years! I’m not the best commenter but your blog is one of my faves and I love your taste in books. Choosing Winger and Openly Straight as your favorite reads just proves my point. Keep having fun with your blog!

November 5, 2013 - 9:51 am

ash - Two years! And I feel like I’ve been around from the beginning, which makes me even happier for you two! All the congrats! As for a book rec, Aristole and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, owns my heart.

November 5, 2013 - 9:48 am

Jen @ Pop! Goes The Reader - Wishing you both the warmest and happiest of anniversaries! Rather Be Reading was one of the first blogs I discovered when I first launched Pop! Goes The Reader and I’ll always remember how welcoming and supportive both of y’all were to me. Words can’t express how thankful I was, and still am, for that. Both of you consistently write some of my favourite reviews and are two of the kindest, sweetest bloggers I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet 😀 Here’s to many more happy years!

November 5, 2013 - 9:47 am

Jessi - Happy 2 years 🙂 I’m new to the book review/blogging world but I’m so glad I stumbled across your blog. Because of y’all (and several other great blogs), my to-read list on Goodreads is constantly expanding and I’m still not sure when I’ll actually be able to read all of the books I’ve put on there. Looking forward to many more posts and reviews from you ladies!

November 5, 2013 - 9:27 am

November 5, 2013 - 9:05 am

Daphne - Love you guys! Congrats on 2 years! As for a book rec…I don’t know if I can think of something you guys haven’t read yet. Let me go with Beth Harbison, an adult author that I read for the first time this summer & then immediately had to go and find every books she’s written. Best of luck to your personal life & your blogging future!

November 5, 2013 - 9:03 am

November 5, 2013 - 8:39 am

Indigo Wayworth - One of my favourite reads of the year was WILD AWAKE, which I see in the pile! But to everyone that hasn’t read it, do it now!

November 5, 2013 - 8:39 am

Stormy - Happy blog birthday! So glad to see Rather Be Reading turn another year old. As for book recommendations, hmm, it’s difficult. The first one I thought of was This Song Will Save Your Life, by that’s obviously been read all ready. Ooh, got one–The Book Thief! Most people have already read it but seems like a good book recommendation since the movie is coming out so soon.

November 5, 2013 - 8:18 am

Kimmy - Congratulations! I’m celebrating my 3 year blog anniversary this month and it’s nuts how the time flies!

Liz (Along for the Read) - Estelle- I hate covers with faces, which is the sole reason that I have not yet purchased or read Just One Year yet. I’m going to hold out for the library copy, and hope that the paperback matches Just One Day (because I also really like that paperback cover)

Magan- I hope everything turns out well with your foster daughter, that must be a roller coaster of emotions, but it is so amazing that you have been able to experience all of that. I’ll be sending good thoughts your way.

November 3, 2013 - 1:50 pm

Quinn @ Quinn's Book Nook - Aww, Magan. I hope things go as well as they can with your family. I really liked The Distance Between Us, too. It’s a light sweet read – maybe something you might need right now. I also need to stop buying, and then not reading my books.

Estelle – Prom & Prejudice is super cute. I don’t love all of Elizabeth Eulberg’s books, but that one is at the top of my list. I also really like The Lonely Heart’s Club. When I have a down day, I like to head to the book store, too.

I’m writing myself a reminder right now for your Twitter Chat. Congrats on two years of blogging!

October 31, 2013 - 11:16 pm

Bookworm1858 - Ooh excited about Kirby’s pick. I am intrigued about Caletti’s adult outing and then I’ve had Treacherous on repeat for a while now too so I really want to know how that will be reflected in her novel.

October 31, 2013 - 7:43 pm

Jamie - What a fun way to switch it up this month! I love it! Definitely want to check out Wonder When You’ll Miss Me. I’ve had Ernest Hemingway on my shelf for years and have still not gotten to that book. EMBARRASSING. Totally didn’t know Deb Caletti wrote adult fiction also!

Alexa Y. - Another ringing endorsement for Nowhere But Home! I’m thinking I really have to get on the boat and read this one too. I loved seeing what you both thought of this story, and it pleases me that you enjoyed it too! That’s FIVE ringing endorsements for me now — and all from people I most definitely trust.

October 28, 2013 - 1:40 pm

Asheley Tart (@BookwormAsheley) - OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS TO PIECES, 100000%.
Because I just loved the book so much. And I had hoped that Magan would love the book although I was a bit nervous because she’s so close to the area! YAY for reading it and loving it and this fun review style!!! I don’t think there’s anything I’d change either! I loved Cal and everything that is revealed about his character! Well, I just loved everything.

October 27, 2013 - 12:37 am

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - I, too listened to Cassie and picked up a copy :). I love reading your bookish conversations, and this one is no exception! Super excited to read this one, especially after SO many of my trusted blogger buddies love it so much!

October 25, 2013 - 2:10 pm

Lucy - Such a fun book report! I’ve been meaning to read this book for so long. I can tell I’m going to love it. Yay for book pushers 🙂

October 25, 2013 - 8:57 am

Meg - What a fun way to review — I love it! And I really enjoyed this one, too. It was a big, unexpected surprise for me from beginning to end, and it was hard not to like and feel for Queenie. I also found the romance with Everett very believable, and I was sorry to see it end! Even months later, I can vividly remember scenes and passages… the mark of a great story. 🙂

October 25, 2013 - 8:42 am

Cassie - LADIES, LADIES! I am so so so over the moon happy that you both loved this one!!

Everything, like E mentioned was so perfect, and well researched, and it really brought the book to life for me. From the characters to the setting to the trials each person had to face, to finding a jackass [I’m looking at you, Hudson!] It was just so perfect.

THANK YOU for listening to me <3

xoxo

April Books & Wine - LOL, I love it, cardigan twins!

Have a nice trip! 😀
