TOP TEN TUESDAY: AUTHORS I WANNA DINE WITH

Happy Tuesday, everyone! It’s Magan bringing you the top ten authors I’d want to join me at my Thanksgiving feast.  Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme started by The Broke and the Bookish, one of our very favorite blogs.  As I work on my hypothetical list of authors I can’t help but think about […]

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - I agree – the party would not be the same without JK Rowling 🙂

November 22, 2011 - 9:31 am

Magan - Bree, YAY! Thanks so much! I’ll have to go check out your list!

Kell, I know – didn’t love Meyers’ either, but I think it would be interesting to get some answers about a few things that made me dislike the books. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your list!

November 22, 2011 - 5:06 am

Kell Smurthwaite - I loved Rowling’s books, but hated Meyers’ so she wouldn’t be coming to my dinner – LOL!
Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday post. 🙂

Bree - I love your list! I have Stephanie Perkins as well but I could definitely have invited another 3-4 from your list if I weren’t limited to 10!

Top 10 Tuesday: The Sad & Lonely on Estelle’s Bookshelf

Happy Tuesday everyone! Estelle here! So excited to take part in my first Top Ten Tuesday started by the fabulous The Broke and the Bookish. Gotta say I couldn’t help crack a smile when I saw that today’s topic was about the very sad books on my bookshelf/Nook library that I keep passing by for […]

Hemborgwife - When we moved I rid myself of all unread books since shipping was so expensive but I am regretting it now since the library has just a small selection of books in English.

On another note I had book name plates as a kid too and I am actually thinking of getting some more since I bought an old cookbook and love the name of the original owner from 1947 being in it!

November 15, 2011 - 8:40 pm

Jamie - OMG GO READ LITTLE WOMEN!!!!!! AHHHH!! lol. I fell in love as a child and read it again as an adult and still the same fondness for it. The Help was on my list too! I really do want to read it soon because everyone also raves about the movie!

November 15, 2011 - 6:02 pm

Kell Smurthwaite - Little Women is lovely but very sad.
Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday post. 🙂

Magan - Amber, I’m so glad you loved it! The sequel to Hourglass (called Timepiece) comes out on June 12, 2012. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. I’m sure we’ll learn SO much more about all the talents. YAY! You made my night. 🙂

November 26, 2011 - 12:18 pm

Amber - Hourglass: I read this book in literally a day, thanks for the great suggestion! Although I was really disappointed that the story never went very far into Lily and her ‘talent.’ It was very much like a teenage girl’s version of X-men and I loved it!

November 8, 2011 - 10:50 pm

Magan - Megan, I haven’t read that book. Definitely going to find it on Goodreads so I can add it to my never-ending list!

Jamie! The list is pretty diverse; never until I typed this list did I realize how all over the place my reading choices are! Definitely look into Small Town Sinners and Towelhead. Be warned – Towelhead deals with serious stuff. :-/

La Coccinelle – Please read The Book Thief. It would be an injustice not to!

November 8, 2011 - 10:01 pm

La Coccinelle - I really liked Room, though it’s not the sort of thing I usually read. I’ve got The Book Thief in my TBR pile…

November 8, 2011 - 9:42 pm

Jamie - SO MANY OF MY FAVES ON HERE…The Book Thief, Wither and The Hunger Games! I own The Glass Castle but haven’t gotten to it yet..along with Room. I haven’t heard of Small Town Sinners and Towelhead but now you have me intrigued!!

AND YAY FOR FIRST TTTers!!

November 8, 2011 - 6:13 pm

Megan - This is a great list! Have you read Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier? It’s time travel and historical fiction all wrapped up in a pretty little book. Here is my list http://wp.me/pzUn5-F9

November 8, 2011 - 4:38 pm

Magan - Same here, Alexa! I just read it this year, and after I finished it all I could think was Where have these been? How did I not know about them?!
Kit – I cried a lot while reading The Book Thief, too. Emotional roller coaster!
Nicole – YAY! So glad you found the list helpful! 🙂

November 8, 2011 - 2:44 pm

kit - The Hunger Games is on my list too, it’s not something I would ever have picked up normally but I’d read so many good things about it that I caved in the end!

I really enjoyed The Book Thief, although it did make me cry on a train, which was reasonably embarrassing… 🙂

November 8, 2011 - 2:25 pm

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - I really loved The Hunger Games trilogy, though I only got around to reading it this year 🙂

November 8, 2011 - 11:02 am

Nicole - Great list Magan, added some of this to mine to read too.
