Nailed It: Upcoming July Releases

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by the blog for another Nailed It!

We’ve decided to mix things up a bit and introduce you nail-polish lovers to another brand we really adore, Zoya. Their color selection is fantastic and the polish is long-lasting. We’ve actually texted one another before that the polish was holding up so well, but we were ready for a color change before it even started chipping. So without further ado, here are two books we’re anxiously looking forward to in July.

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West

It took me so long to pick a book to feature in this month’s NAILED IT. As always, there are so many pretty covers but I love this one a ton. The sun in the background, the color of her dress, the subtle plaid of his shirt. So great. I’m almost done with THE DISTANCE BETWEEN US and I am really liking it. The colors are kind of fall-ish but I could definitely see them popping during the summer too. It’s like the romantic part of summer — at dusk and holding hands!

Truly, Madly, Deadly by Hannah Jayne

Add to Goodreads | Purchase on Amazon | Read Tara at Fiction Folio’s Review

I have to be honest and admit that there are so, so many stinkin’ books I’m looking forward to in July that I picked this one based purely on what I’ve been wanting to do with my nails lately. Dark nail polish has been a popular thing, but I feel it kind of phases out a bit during the summertime. I’ve seen so so so many girls rocking the dark nail polish with lovely coral or mint outfits lately. I absolutely love it! I personally want to push my summery colors aside to try this out. So why don’t you guys step away from the beachy reads and bright polishes to give this dark, mystery thriller a go with me?

Magan: Shelve It — April 7, 2013

weekly feature to share the books magan and estelle are adding to their bookshelves each weekHey, hey friends! Happy Sunday! Thanks for stopping by for today’s Shelve It! It’s been a while since I’ve splurged on books. Have you seen all the amazing deals for the kindle and nook? Holy moly — so many good books are half off or cheaper right now. Take advantage of this, guys! Estelle and I definitely have.

Since all my books are for my kindle, no vlog for this Shelve It. I’m pretty sure that would be boring with nothing to physically show you. (Right?)

Books Purchased for my Kindle:

kindle book cheap purchases

Just for Now by Abbi Glines — $0.99 — (Goodreads | Amazon)
Being Friends With Boys by Terra Elan McVoy — $2.99 — (Goodreads | Amazon | Estelle’s Review)
Going Bovine by Libba Bray — $3.99 — (Goodreads | Amazon)

(I believe the Amazon sales last through the end of April. The 50% off sale at Barnes and Noble only lasts through this weekend. Please note that I think Amazon has decided to match the prices on the B&N sales.)

Once Was Lost Renamed to What We Lost

I also purchased What We Lost by Sara Zarr. (Goodreads | Amazon) It was originally titled Once Was Lost, but it received a shiny new cover and a new title. What are your thoughts? I love both covers, actually, but do admit the new one is a bit more eye-catching. This is my only Zarr book left to read, guys. Ahhh!

Oh, hello there. It’s been a while since I did a vlog for Shelve It. My weekends have been disgustingly busy since January, but here I am — enjoying a nice, quiet, rainy Saturday at home. (Hooray!!!) I just finished up one of the books I bought this week (Sean Griswold’s Head) last night so I need to figure out what to start next! For all of you on Spring Break, I hope your week is filled with awesome books, lots of rest, and NO homework! (What will you do with your week off?!)

Magan: Shelve it, December 2, 2012

weekly feature focusing on the books we bought, borrowed, and received from publishers

Hey friends! It’s so, so hard for me to believe that it’s December. It’s 77 degrees in Austin right now. WHY OH WHY? I need cold weather and hot chocolate to get into the holiday spirit! I’ve been playing my fair share of the ‘N Sync holiday station on Pandora to balance out the warmer weather. 😉

My book buying has slowed down a bit because I’m in Christmas gift purchasing mode. (Or trying to be. I’m so behind!) This week I purchased for my kindle:

The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
(based on high recommendations from Jen of Makeshift Bookmark and Anna of Anna Reads)

If I Lie by Corrine Jackson
(I almost purchased this so, so many times from B&N. I finally caved and got the kindle version.)

From NetGalley we received:

Me, Him, Them, and It by Caela Carter

Hooked by Liz Fichera

Magan: Shelve It — October 07, 2012

weekly feature focusing on the books we bought, borrowed, and received from publishers

Hi friends! I am sorry Shelve It is late today. No vlog this week because a) I was good and didn’t purchase any books, b) I have to return all of my library books tomorrow, and c) none received from publishers. I’m currently trying to crank through a library book before I have to relinquish it to the library again. EEEP!

One note: today my husband and I took a little bit of time out of the nutty day to go see The Perks of Being a Wallflower movie. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! It was so, so amazing. I laughed and cried. (I continued to cry for a good while after I left the theater because I was so touched by the movie.) Really, friends — you must go see the movie!

As for what happened around the blog this week, here’s what you missed:

Hope you have a fantastic week! Thanks for stopping by the blog!
