Alexa S. - Wow. Tease definitely sounds like it would be a hard book to read, but also a GOOD one. There’s something interesting about seeing things through the eyes of the “bully” and not the “bullied”.

Jamie - I AM SO INTRIGUED BY THIS ONE!! Definitely going to make sure it doesn’t just sit on my Kindle as an egalley! Love seeing a different POV plus I LOOOOVE books with narrators that make me a bit uncomfortable!

Magan: Open Road Summer by Emery Lord, A Vlog Review

Howdy, y’all! Man it feels so incredibly wonderful to type these words. It feels so good to be here talking books. And yes, quite literally below, I talk books in my vlog. I’m really wanting to mix things up a bit and as I’m just on an altogether different schedule with a newborn, vlogs seem like the […]

Judith - THIS IS JUST SO LOVELY, MAGAN! Please keep vlog reviews a thing, because they’re really great. Of course, I am in love with this book, and I am totally buying my best friend a copy as well. And yes, Reagan and Dee are the best. I don’t think I’ve ever read about a lovelier friendship in books. Their friendship made me cry! Also, Everett is SOOOOO CUTE! It’s great you read this book to (with) her, and I hope she will also find a best friend as great as you and Estelle, or Dee and Reagan.

Magan - Sharon! Thanks so much for your comment. I love, love, loved this book No question about it. I am hoping there’s something else this year that makes me FALL IN LOVE like I did with this book. Nothing seems to compare so far. Tahereh Mafi is coming to Austin in April and I cannot wait! :)

March 28, 2012 - 11:32 pm

Sharon @ Fictionally Inclined - I don’t know how I missed this when you first posted it! I couldn’t wait to hear what you thought. Glad I caught it, though. First of all, love the vlog format; it was an interesting change that worked really well. :)

Second of all, THIS BOOK. Good gracious. I feel like I cannot even articulate how awesome it was. The writing in particular was just…absolutely stunning. I was this close to giving it 5 stars, which is practically unattainable.

My full review is here, actually, if you want all of my thoughts. I would probably break your comment box if I tried to recreate them, LOL.

March 20, 2012 - 8:55 am

Magan - Yay! Yay! I’m so glad you liked it. I was kinda nervous about doing a review that way. And really, I have complete faith that you will LOVE this book! :)

March 19, 2012 - 9:05 pm

VeganYANerds - I enjoyed your vlog-style review, Magan! And I promise I will try and get a copy of this as soon as possible and read it. I love how passionate you are about this book :)

March 19, 2012 - 10:12 am

Magan - Kristin! I’m so glad you loved it too! I will definitely tell Tahereh that you say hello! I was jumping up and down when I saw she was coming to Austin!

Congratulations on the new job! That’s so exciting that you’re going to be working in a job that you’re so happy about! (Always makes getting up in the morning that much easier!) I will not be able to go to BEA this year; I will be on a family vacation celebrating a big anniversary with my parents. I wish I could have made it work. I’m definitely going to keep it on my radar for next year! I don’t know if Estelle is going.

Thanks again so, so much for the sweet comment and compliments. They mean SO much to us! xoxo

Kristin J. - Magan:

You are not alone! I completely feel the same way you do about “Shatter Me” and plan on re-reading it again very soon. It’s so hard to tell people about a book that has so many elements that they need to figure out on their own (while reading). I think you did a great job of summing up the book and giving readers a teaser of how great this book really is!I cannot wait for the 2nd in the series either..it’s too far away. When you meet Tahereh please tell her that Kristin from MN loves her as well. She won’t be at any tour stop near me, unfortunately.

Also..thanks to you and Estelle for being such a wonderful blog to go to. I am currently switching jobs, and am finally going to be a Youth Service Librarian (which I am psyched about)..and I am looking forward to utilizing your blog to help get teens into the library. By the way, are you or Estelle planning on going to BEA in NYC? If you are..I would love to meet up!

Thanks again ladies! Love to you both! =)
