Estelle: Shelve It 11/23/2012

weekly feature focusing on the books we bought, borrowed, and received from publishers

Here’s sending some late Thanksgiving greetings to you, dear reader. Magan and I hope that you enjoyed holiday time with friends and family. If you didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend, we hope your weekend was a fun one! We are so thankful for your readership, your thoughtful comments, and the fact that you stop in and listen to our crazy thoughts about books. Here’s to another fantastic week!

I know I’m on the book ban… kind of. But I slipped up.

Bought:

Burning Blue by Paul Griffin: After Magan’s high marks on this title, I bought it at the bookstore. I never ever buy hardcovers at full price but gee, was this one worth it. I could not put it down. Be sure to revisit her review!

Charade by Nyrae Dawn: Well, Kate’s Tales of Books and Bands convinced me to give this one a try! I couldn’t really pass up 99 cents on the Nook!

Epic Force by Alexi Raymond: Jen over at Makeshift Bookmark made a strong case for this book… another great eBook deal — only $2.99. Can’t wait to get started!

Losing It by Cora Carmack: Cora Carmack is the latest of indie writers to land a book deal — 3 books with HarperCollins — so I wanted to give this one a try.

Borrowed:

Freefall by Mindi Scott: Thanks to Anna (Anna Reads) for sending along Ginger’s (G Reads Books) copy of this novel! Ginger speaks so highly of Mindi and her work, and I can’t wait to try out another one of her books after really enjoying Live Through This.

For review:

Torched by Andrea Lynn Colt: Get excited for the return of our Joint Review segment with a look at this fun contemporary that Magan and I will both be reading. Thank you Andrea!

* and oh geez get excited!!! *

Things I Can’t Forget by Miranda Kenneally: I was lucky enough to win a copy of this ARC in a contest Miranda was running. I am a huge fan of Catching Jordan + Stealing Parker so I’m planning a Miranda marathon, which I will top off with this March 2013 release. Thank you Miranda!

…and in case you missed it, this week on the blog:

A review of Raw Blue by Kirsty Eagar (Aussie YA love continues!)
M talks Lilo + Britney in her 52 Reasons to Hate My Father by Jessica Brody review.
5 favorite authors + 10 standout books from those authors for Top 10 Tuesday!
Did the sequel to Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky, Middle Ground, live up to the first book?

have a great week friends!
