Estelle: WeVerb12 (Prompts 1 + 2)

Hi all! Magan and I are going to be chiming in this month about WEverb12 every now and then. We hope you’ll stop over at the website and check it out for yourself. A team of bloggers has collected some prompts to help us think about the last year and also look ahead to 2013. We thought this might be a nice way for us to challenge ourselves writing wise and also to share a little more about who we are on the blog.

#1. [create] Write a haiku for 2012. (Bonus: write one for 2013 too.)

Missteps become lessons.
Trust in adventure always.
Learning does not stop.

My hopes for 2013:

Feel fulfilled every day.
Love friendship career and more.
One day at a time.

#2. [Watch] What movie did you see this year that you would recommend to a friend?

Most people wouldn’t be surprised to hear a Disney recommendation from me. But I’m going to recommend two shorts: La Luna (which played before Brave) and Paperman (which played before Wreck-it Ralph). Both are beautiful, and well-done stories with music and no dialogue. I honestly think both of these small bonuses were worth the price of admission. Pixar’s La Luna is a sweet story about a boy who gets to find out what his father and grandfather do for a living, and Walt Disney Animation’s Paperman is about spotting that special someone.

I’m most amazed by the amount of humanity and emotion came out of two pieces that only went on for a few minutes. That’s truly impressive to me!

Don’t forget to check out WEverb! Prompts are listed six at a time, and you can jump in any time!

I’m seriously considering doing some WeVerb prompts. I LOVE them. And I LOVE your haikus and movie choices. Haven’t seen Paperman yet, but I loved La Luna. So cute. Excited to see more of these posts. 🙂

  2. Kelly says:

Paperman was adorable! (And Wreck-It Ralph had me in tears from laughing and then from feel goodness!).

I have no clue what WeVerb12 is, but I’m off to check it out!

I am a HUGE fan of the Pixar shorts, and any Disney animated shorts, so obviously, I’m pretty sure I’m going to LOVE these two. I haven’t been able to catch either Brave or Wreck-it Ralph yet, but I hope to soon!
