Estelle’s Shelve It from 6/9/2013

shelve it: weekly feature to share the books magan and estelle are adding to their bookshelves each week

Happy Sunday + Happy Shelve It Day! It has been A WEEK. I’m still reeling from the exhaustion I’ve been experiencing post-BEA. And if you guys remember, I didn’t even attend BEA this year. But with people in town, places to go, people to see, some book events in between, it was one of the most social weeks I’ve had in forever. I should have some recaps up for you in the next few days about the two events I went to and the great books you should be adding to your TBR, but before I get to that, here’s a v-log about some book purchases I’ve made in the past few weeks and some highlights from my own BEA stash.

Hope you guys are well + enjoying the weekend and reading EVERYTHING!

What I Bought:

You Look Different in Real Life by Jennifer Castle
Shark Girl by Kelly Bingham
When You Were Here by Daisy Whitney
Rules of Summer by Joanna Philbin

BEA ARC Highlights:

OCD Love Story by Corey Ann Haydu (July 2013 release)
The Infinite Moment of Us by Lauren Myracle (August 2013 release)
Just Like Fate by Cat Patrick and Suzanne Young (August 2013 release)
When I Was the Greatest by Jason Reynolds (January 2014 release)
Heartbeat by Elizabeth Scott (February 2014 release)

On the blog this week:

June’s Big Kids’ Table with a Blogger Rec from Novel Sounds
Recap (and review) of Judy Blume Tiger Eyes Movie event
The Mourning Hours by Paula Treick DeBoard (suspenseful adult thriller)
Shut Out by Kody Keplinger (sexy, fast paced young adult)”
Sweet Summertime Reads: The Bookish Places We Would Go
The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay (new adult)

♥

Thanks so much for stopping in this week! As always, Magan and I totally appreciate it.
Let us know what’s happening down in the comments (reading or otherwise!) xo

Heidi - It was so nice to meet you after BEA, Estelle! I totally understand the complete inability to resist buying books, CLEARLY I had an issue and picked up like 8 that day between The Strand and Books of Wonder even though I’d gone to BEA and gotten tons already. I should have gone to that Harlequin Cocktail party a while back! I was invited, but I honestly didn’t know anyone else who was going and wasn’t sure it’d be worth the schlep into the city. I did really enjoy meeting Elizabeth Scott at the breakfast though, and was lucky enough to meet Lauren Myracle and Cat Patrick during the week as well–both were lovely!

Lucy @ The Reading Date - You had a great book week! I love Elizabeth Scott’s books so Heartbeat is a book I would have waited in line for at BEA. Added When You were the Greatest to my TBR- sounds like a good one. And The Infinite Moment of Us also sounds fantastic. I loved Myracle’s book Shine.

And oh how I miss the Strand! I lived in NY long ago and hope to get back soon to do some shopping.

Happy reading, Estelle!

Ash @ Paranormal Indulgence - I’m becoming a big fan of your vlogs! One, because it’s so awesome to see your face, and two, because you’ve pointed me toward some AMAZING-SOUNDING contemporaries these days. I put RULES OF SUMMER in my TBR and I definitely want to check out OCD LOVE STORY!

And I know what you mean about that BEA hangover, man. I’M STILL FEELING IT.

Alexa Y. - I really, really want to buy When You Were Here because (a) contemporary story and (b) JAPAN. Please convince me not to spend more money… (though I’ve resisted it twice now!). Great selection of books though!

Krystianna - You Look Different in Real Life sounds like such a good read! It sounds very unique, which I really like. Just Like Fate sounds pretty good too. I read Cat Patrick’s other book, Revived, and I really liked it. I hope you enjoy your books and thanks for sharing!

VeganYANerds - I have to echo Magz, love the Ron Swanson print!

And HEY!! It’s so good to see your face/hear your voice!! So glad we got to meet and I love that your week was just as hectic as ours 🙂

Maggie, Young Adult Anonymous - I can’t wait to read When You Were Here by Daisy Whitney. I think it was marketed as Where She Went meets Lost in Translation? Either way, sign me up! BTW I love your Ron Swanson print. 🙂 And there is ALWAYS room for a soda float!

June 9, 2013 - 5:21 am

Amanda - My eyes MAY have turned into giant hearts when I saw you got OCD Love Story. That book has been on my wish list for a couple months now!

I really need to pick up When You Were Here. Everyone and their grandmother has read it, and I feel like I’m being left in the dust, like with most books. 😛
