Magan: Shelve It –> January 27, 2013

weekly feature focusing on the books we bought, borrowed, and received from publishers

Hi, friends! I apologize for the late Shelve It. My poor laptop has been at the Apple store getting repaired. Actually, it was supposed to be better, but the problems I was having failed to return over the several days it was there so I have to wait + see if they happen again and then hope to catch the problem on video to show them when I take it back in. Ay yi yi.

Anyway, I am sharing photographs with you tonight instead of doing a vlog because we have a guest coming to stay with us for the week + we’re trying to finish tidying our house. But back to the fun stuff —  I got some awesome books in the mail this week (!!!):

magan's january 2013 shelve it post rather be reading

Estelle mailed me:

+ Anatomy of a Boyfriend by Daria Snadowsky [Goodreads | Amazon | Interview With Daria + E’s Thoughts on the Anatomy Books] — E has raved about these books on the blog lately and I’ve been on the edge-of-my-seat anxious to read them. I’m really excited to meet Dom – she seems like such a unique and distinct character with lots of spunk.

+ Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler [Goodreads | Amazon] — I received the best texts from E while she was reading Bittersweet. I had this checked out from the library once up on a time, but never got to it (because I’m a poor time manager with library books sometimes). I promised E I would read it right away, so I’m about two thirds of the way through with it right now. Loving it!

From Simon + Schuster:

+ Over You by Amy Reed [Goodreads | Amazon | My Review of Clean by Amy Reed] — There are two best friends suffering through some growing pains + a trip to Nebraska + a “dangerous and intoxicating” boy. SIGN ME UP. (Release Date: June 4, 2013)

Purchased From Book People:

+ Just One Day by Gayle Forman [Goodreads | Amazon | My Review] — Sooo, Gayle Forman is probably the coolest lady on the planet. No kidding. I LOVE HER. I had to remind myself not to stare (you know what I’m talking about — the gaping, open-mouthed, drooling-because-you’re-so-in-awe-stare) or say something dumb. This event was last Friday night here in Austin + was one of the highlights of my week! I look like the biggest dork known to man, but here’s Gayle Forman and myself at the signing:

From NetGalley:

book cover for Blaze by Laurie Boyle Crompton

+ Blaze (or Love in the Time of Supervillains) by Laurie Boyle Crompton [Goodreads | Amazon] — So excited Sourcebooks is sharing this title with us! Blaze seems like an awesome chick — she draws comics. She’s seeking revenge against a boy and in the process her reputation goes to crap. Sounds SO GOOD!

Here’s what happened around the blog this week:

→ A list of February 2013 Young Adult (YA) Book Releases
→ A Review and Discussion of Uses for Boys by Erica Lorraine Scheidt
→ A Review of Small Town Sinners by Melissa Walker
→ An Interview with Daria Snadowsky
→ A Review of Empty by K.M. Walton

Have a fantastic week! Hope you’re finishing up an awesome book this evening! xo

I definitely want to meet Gayle Forman at an event for Just One Day, just so I can ask her questions about her travels and hear her talk about them. She seems like such an amazing and really cool person! (And I’ve actually heard her speak before!)
