Alexa Y. - Ooh, another book set in Nantucket! I really want to visit after seeing it pop up so frequently as the setting for books and blog posts lately. I also really like the way this book sounds, because it looks like it’s about the relationship between three sisters which I am a sucker for since I have two sisters of my own. Great review E!

July 9, 2013 - 11:00 am

Asheley Tart (@BookwormAsheley) - This sounds like a nice summer-y book to read. I just put both the print and audiobooks on hold at both of my libraries. No telling when it’ll come in but it’ll be a nice surprise! Thanks E!

July 9, 2013 - 10:10 am

Jamie - Oooh! I think I need to see if the library has this one because it sounds perfect for the family reunion/beach vacation I have at the end of this month! I love love love stories about sisters because my up and down relationship story with my sister is one of the most important things in my life. And knowing how hard it was for my sister and I to live together without killing each other…well this sounds so fun! And Nantucket…sigh..I’ve always wanted to go there!

July 8, 2013 - 6:03 pm

Cynthia - I haven’t been online in so long I miss your reviews! This one sounds perfect for summer and I’ve been hearing a lot about Nantucket too. I’ll be adding this one to my list, I’m getting more and more interested in reading adult fiction again. =)

July 8, 2013 - 12:43 pm

Jen @ Pop! Goes The Reader - From the sounds of things, Nantucket is certainly the location of choice for literature this summer! The ideal backdrop for a seasonal contemporary, Nantucket certainly seems to be a contributing factor in the success of these books. I must say I’m intrigued by the concept of this novel. I love the idea of the three sisters being forced to spend time with one another and inadvertently healing their relationship in the process. There are few things I enjoy more in a novel than one which delves deeply into an examination of a family’s dynamics. That said, I’m not sure if the apparent melodrama is something I would enjoy. I think I’ll be borrowing this one from the library as opposed to buying it outright, but you’ve definitely made me interested in picking this one up for myself, Estelle 😀 Great review!

Estelle’s Shelve It for 6/23/2013: Books, Pals + Events, Oh My!

Hola! Why oh why do these summer weekends go so fast? I’ve had a great couple of days celebrating a friend’s birthday, seeing Monsters University (so cute!) and hanging out with a few fancy bloggers at Books of Wonder this afternoon! I was so thrilled to finally meet Leila Howland, author Nantucket Blue, too! She […]

Lauren D. - Estelle, thank you so much my dear! That was the sweetest little introduction and it just made my day to hear it. Such amazing communities are created here in the blog world and I am so thankful for them. I have connected with so many amazing people, like yourself, and I am blown away by the kindness and support that I receive from friends like you. I’m so glad you did email me and just happy I could help ease your mind during that stressful time of wedding planning. Thank you again for sharing my book. I hope you enjoy it and get inspired by its pages!

June 25, 2013 - 11:34 am

Jamie - Looks like you guys had a great time! So wish I could have come! Curious about Burning because I just got that in the mail and then saw Rachel’s review of it!

June 24, 2013 - 12:08 pm

Maggie @ Just a Couple More Pages - Ok, I’m going to be creepy, are you guys at Sala? I recognize the restaurant and I know it’s somewhere I’ve been many times, but if it’s not Sala I’m totally blanking.

June 24, 2013 - 12:03 pm

Brittany @ The Book Addict's Guide - Ahhh that event looks like so much fun! I saw all your tweets and got super jealous that you guys all get to hang out together haha 🙂 But very cool — I love seeing blogger friends together! It just shows you how amazing this community is and how it brings us all together 🙂
Okay. I need to read Dangerous Girls. I keep trying to read like 5 books at once. Maybe I should just start them all so I don’t forget hahaha. I’m so terrible at picking what to read next… Don’t let me forget about it though! 🙂

June 23, 2013 - 11:48 pm

Bookworm1858 - Haven’t been blown away by any books lately, alas but I also really enjoyed Monsters University. I wasn’t sure because reviews were mixed but I was absolutely charmed!

June 23, 2013 - 10:42 pm

Alexa Y. - I can’t wait to hear what you think of Burning! I really am curious about that book, particularly since a few people have talked it up to me.

Also – it was REALLY good to see you today. I’ve missed you! It helped me a lot through all the craziness that’s going on – and you know what that is. Love it and love YOU <3

Sweet Summertime Reads: Beach Bags Galore!

Hello, hot hot summer! Yesterday Ginger at GReads! shared what’s in her beach bag. Today we’re doing the same. Quite frankly, we’re longing for days at the beach to escape work and day-to-day life busyness. Oh, to smell like sunscreen while spending a long day with sand collecting between your toes… Magan: I’m a terrible […]

Melissa's Eclectic Bookshelf - Love all of your picks! And I’ve Got Your Number is a great Summer read!! So fun!

June 19, 2013 - 3:11 pm

Alexa Y. - This post is SO ADORABLE. You girls make me want to pack up and head on over to the beach! (I haven’t been yet since the weather got warmer. That’s gotta change.) I love both pairs of sandals, the striped backpack and that AWESOME picnic basket!

June 19, 2013 - 12:11 pm

Rachel - Estelle, your picks totally scream you and I love it. I can so see you with that beach bag. Magan, those sandals are THE CUTEST and also I love that towel and the tote bag. You should be my personal shopper or something. My beach bag is always filled with lots of food, summery books, and ALL THE WATER because I am a very big water drinker.

June 19, 2013 - 4:38 am

Maggie, Young Adult Anonymous - I love this feature! Magan, love love love the sandals and the backpack. And you can’t go wrong with Sophie Kinsella. Estelle, that basket and sandals!! I’ve never shopped at ModCloth before. You guys are going to be the death of my bank account!! I have the Fuji Instax Mini 25 and I love it. 🙂

June 18, 2013 - 11:00 pm

Cassie - SUCH CUTE BAGS GUYS! E- the sunset nights theme? ADORABLE. May have to steal the idea 😉 M- I still never read Sophie Kinsella, so sounds like summer would be perfect time to start!

Love these posts ladies! <3

June 18, 2013 - 10:21 pm

Courtney @ Courtney Reads A Lot - I would love to just go to the beach tomorrow instead of work. I love the ocean and smelling like sunscreen. I love your beach bags! Those sunglasses and sandals are too cute! I also pack way too much. I would have chapstick, a hair brush (my hair wet is not a pretty picture) and then pretty much what you girls have. 😀 Great post!

June 18, 2013 - 8:47 pm

Lauren @ Love is not a triangle - This is the greatest post! Graphically and content wise. I’m always overpacking too. Plus I have kids so that’s triple the stuff. But I ALWAYS have a book and a snack and sunglasses. LOVE that camera so much and I’ve Got YOur Number is a great Kinsella. She’s my go-to summer author. Can you keep a secret is my FAVE.

June 18, 2013 - 5:39 pm

Tara - LOL Magan you are an overpacker just like me! You never know what you *might* need. Estelle, that picnic basket is so pretty…and costs more than 20 of my beach bags combined haha. I will have to admire from afar :/

June 18, 2013 - 3:04 pm

Jess, Books and Sensibility - There are so pretty ! You both picked great summer reads.

June 18, 2013 - 1:21 pm

Jessie - That Kate Spade picnic basket is AMAZING

June 18, 2013 - 9:03 am

Bookworm1858 - Right now I’m reading Antigoddess so if I don’t finish it by the weekend, that’s what I’ll be dragging along. I’m in California really close to the beach but I rarely go-hoping to change that this summer!

June 18, 2013 - 8:58 am

Ginger @ GReads! - Cute! Cute! Cute! What’s inside Magan’s beach bag looks totally like her 🙂 I can see her rockin’ those shades with that hat.. and of course those sandals! Estelle, I remember seeing your “after work, at the beach” photos last summer. I may miss it as much as you, ha.

June 18, 2013 - 8:56 am

Brittany @ the Book Addict's Guide - Super cute, ladies!!! I’m like Magan. I’m an overpacker! Surprisingly it wasn’t too terrible for BEA but usually I bring WAY more clothes/books than I need to because I just never know what I’ll be in the mood for! Haha 🙂

June 18, 2013 - 8:41 am

Lisa - I’ll take Magan’s backpack and Estelle’s sandals, thanks! Also loooove the summer reading choices.

The Big Kids’ Table: Summer is the Word

Hiya! I can’t believe I’m doing another one of these so soon, and also halfway through the year with my adult suggestions. It’s funny. During BEA week, many people would ask what kind of blog we run and I realize that for me, adult fiction is my “palette cleanser” whether it’s picking up something more […]

Alexa Y. - I already told you this, but I hate you and love you for all the awesome adult titles I encounter thanks to this feature on your blog! I don’t get to a lot of them right away, but I certainly think you offer up great selections each and every time. Love that this one is summer-themed!

June 8, 2013 - 8:19 pm

Molli - I love this feature a lot! I read Meg’s debut, How To Eat a Cupcake last year, and I really liked it, so I definitely want to read All The Summer Girls. 🙂

June 7, 2013 - 7:22 pm

SFA - A Constellation of Vital Phenomena which is full of gorgeous prose.

June 7, 2013 - 5:24 pm

Cassie - Ahhh. I LOVE THAT BOOK. It was so beautiful and a messed up yet wonderfully fantastic story. HIGHLYYYY recommend it! Good call by Elena on that. As for the summer titles, BRING EM ONNNNN!

June 7, 2013 - 1:05 pm

Lucy - Love it! I can relate to picking up adult fic as a palette cleanser too 🙂 I have the audio of A Hundred Summers and have heard good things about it. Can’t wait to read all the books Elena recommends too. I bought the hc of Tell the Wolves I’m Home for that awesome cover.
And The Wonder Bread Summer? 1980s LA? Sold!

June 7, 2013 - 11:09 am

elena - thanks for letting me a part of the feature!

On a Personal Note: Marriage, Magic + Books

I’m going to sound like a broken record… but time flies. Seriously. I can’t believe a year ago, Magan and I reunited in NYC, I was reading my first John Green book, and, even more so, I cannot believe that it’s been two years since my wedding. TWO YEARS?! Well, I live to tell the […]

Em (Love YA Lit) - Happy Anniversary! I love your wedding dress and hair AND that you went to Disney for your honeymoon (cute). Is your husband a fan? Or just willing to do anything for the woman he loves?

March 7, 2013 - 1:04 pm

Anna - Too cute!

March 7, 2013 - 9:59 am

Ghenet Myrthil - Happy Anniversary!!! You two are so cute.

March 6, 2013 - 6:34 pm

Cassie - You are adorable! And happy anniversary 😀 <3 I love the pictures!!! And you areee right, you MUST have a good time when there's a mouse in a tuxedo! Hehe! This totally made me need vacation!

March 6, 2013 - 11:06 am

Lisa [is busy nerding] - Congratulations to you both on two wonderful years! Yeah, time flies like crazy! That’s how you want it though. It means your time is happy and busy and wonderful!

Eeeee I’m just bursting reading this post! So much to love! Most of all YOU. oxo

March 6, 2013 - 6:11 am

Lori - Huge congrats on two years! Time does fly! O.o In May I will be celebrating my 6 year anniversary. How did that happen?! Anyway, your honeymoon sounds amazing. I’ve had One Day on my TBR for quite awhile now.

March 5, 2013 - 11:32 pm

Laura - Happy Anniversary! I love One Day! It’s a book that has really stayed with me and I find myself thinking about it often. And I would make a case for it as a honeymoon book since it really celebrates finding that person you’re meant to be with. Congrats 🙂

March 5, 2013 - 10:29 pm

Steph Su - Lovely wedding anniversary post! I’m so glad you adored Something Borrowed; it’s one of my all-time favorites as well. And whoever says Disney World isn’t a great place for a honeymoon misses the meaning of a honeymoon: to spend time with your true love in a carefree place. Happy anniversary and happy reading!

March 5, 2013 - 8:47 pm

Rachel @ hello, chelly. - Happy anniversary!! I know I already said this.. but I really can’t believe it’s been two years already! I didn’t even remember that I lent/recommended those books lol.

March 5, 2013 - 7:13 pm

Brittany @ The Book Addict's Guide - Ummmm Disney is totally romantic! Maybe not in a traditional way, but it’s like, romantic down to your core because it’s so special and magical and you TOTALLY get to be yourself. Isn’t that what being married is all about? You love your husband and he loves you for being exactly who you are all ALL that excitement comes out in Disneyworld! My sister took me for my college graduation and it was A. BLAST. She was the perfect person to go with because we totally acted like children and adults all at the same time. Disney brings out the magic in EVERYTHING.
Okay, that being said… let’s talk about books hahaha. I loved One Day! I actually tried to watch the movie after reading the book about a year ago and I was like AHH I can’t do it! I like Anne Hathaway, I like Jim Sturgess, but I just didn’t like how the movie was going. It was ruining the magic of how I was picturing it as I read it!
Anyway, SORRY for being long winded! But very fun post to comment on 😀

March 5, 2013 - 3:44 pm

VeganYANerds - Happy Anniversary! I think it’s lovely that you went to Disney World, honeymoons should be all about what you love so going there sounds like a perfect destination for you! And you read some great-sounding books, I have One Day, just need to make time to read it!

March 5, 2013 - 3:06 pm

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - Happy anniversary! This is such a great post, filled with good books and a real life happily ever after 🙂

March 5, 2013 - 11:57 am

Tara - Happy two years to you and James! I think your Disney honeymoon sounds fabulous and right up your alley 🙂 Back in my pre-blogger days, I think I checked out five of Emily Giffins books and then never ended up reading them. I’ve heard they’re really good but just haven’t squeezed them into my TBR pile since I started blogging. I also love that you read a Disney book while on a Disney vacation–I totally read Harry Potter while we were at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter 🙂

March 5, 2013 - 11:24 am

Alexa Y. - Happy Anniversary to you and James! Congratulations on your two years of marriage and here’s to many, many more. xo

Also, your post just reminded me that it’s been a year since we first met in person. Isn’t that so cool? I’m so glad that we’re friends, and look forward to many more meet-ups and hangouts in the future!

I love the Something Borrowed & Something Blue duo from Emily Giffin. I prefer Borrowed over Blue, but they’re both really engaging.

And I’m totally checking out that Disney book!

March 5, 2013 - 11:15 am

Cynthia - Happy anniversary Estelle!!! I would’ve loved to spent my honeymoon at Disneyworld, never been and hope to get there one day. =D Looooove the picture right on top. So beautiful!

March 5, 2013 - 10:38 am

Morgan - Happy anniversary!! I, of course, will never judge you for your honeymoon destination. 🙂 I will definitely need to check out that Disney book because I am such a park trivia nerd. Personally, I had to stop reading Nick Sparks books because I was tired of getting my heart ripped out and stomped on. (And I totally love that he was parodied in Anna and the French Kiss!)

March 5, 2013 - 10:15 am

Ginger @ GReads! - Happy 2 years of marriage, Estelle! I love that wedding photo of you & James 🙂 so perfect. I actually read Something Blue (long before my days of blogging) and didn’t realize it was the second in the series – haha, oops! I got a copy of Something Borrowed, but have yet to read it. It’s weird because I have a completely different affliction for the characters. I did see the movie Something Borrowed & HATED IT haha. Maybe that’s why? I’m not sure. I don’t read Sparks books, just watch the movies. And that Disney secrets book sounds awesome. I’d love to read that before checking out the park – which I want to do again so bad! (haven’t been in over 10 years!!)
