Estelle’s Shelve It for 6/23/2013: Books, Pals + Events, Oh My!

Hola! Why oh why do these summer weekends go so fast? I’ve had a great couple of days celebrating a friend’s birthday, seeing Monsters University (so cute!) and hanging out with a few fancy bloggers at Books of Wonder this afternoon! I was so thrilled to finally meet Leila Howland, author Nantucket Blue, too! She […]

Lauren D. - Estelle, thank you so much my dear! That was the sweetest little introduction and it just made my day to hear it. Such amazing communities are created here in the blog world and I am so thankful for them. I have connected with so many amazing people, like yourself, and I am blown away by the kindness and support that I receive from friends like you. I’m so glad you did email me and just happy I could help ease your mind during that stressful time of wedding planning. Thank you again for sharing my book. I hope you enjoy it and get inspired by its pages!

Jamie - Looks like you guys had a great time! So wish I could have come! Curious about Burning because I just got that in the mail and then saw Rachel’s review of it!

Maggie @ Just a Couple More Pages - Ok, I’m going to be creepy, are you guys at Sala? I recognize the restaurant and I know it’s somewhere I’ve been many times, but if it’s not Sala I’m totally blanking.

Brittany @ The Book Addict's Guide - Ahhh that event looks like so much fun! I saw all your tweets and got super jealous that you guys all get to hang out together haha ๐Ÿ™‚ But very cool — I love seeing blogger friends together! It just shows you how amazing this community is and how it brings us all together ๐Ÿ™‚
Okay. I need to read Dangerous Girls. I keep trying to read like 5 books at once. Maybe I should just start them all so I don’t forget hahaha. I’m so terrible at picking what to read next… Don’t let me forget about it though! ๐Ÿ™‚

Bookworm1858 - Haven’t been blown away by any books lately, alas but I also really enjoyed Monsters University. I wasn’t sure because reviews were mixed but I was absolutely charmed!

June 23, 2013 - 10:42 pm

Alexa Y. - I can’t wait to hear what you think of Burning! I really am curious about that book, particularly since a few people have talked it up to me.

Also – it was REALLY good to see you today. I’ve missed you! It helped me a lot through all the craziness that’s going on – and you know what that is. Love it and love YOU <3

Reviving Books of Wonder in NYC

When I buy books, I’ll be completely honest, I go for convenience. This is why I end up at the Barnes & Noble by my job, or clicking through Amazon to purchase my books. As a person on a budget, it’s just what needs to happen. But since starting this blog and attending various events […]

Kristen Evey - This is so sad! I live on the West Coast and never been to this bookstore, but I definitely support independent bookstores. Thanks for blogging about this!

October 25, 2012 - 12:43 pm

Estelle - Laura, I knowwwww! I have to get back there & buy some books. Cause you know, I need more. haha

B. Hemborg - Living in a country where I do not speak the native language I miss book shopping in person so much! I do love an independent book store and I wish Books of Wonder the best of luck1

Laura - Oh no! I was just at Books of Wonder last week! I had no idea!

Estelle: Shelve It (7/22/2012)

And it’s Sunday again! Funny how that happens! How has your weekend gone? Hopefully relaxing and productive! We’ve been hosting a garage sale for the past few days… and you know… some interesting people go to garage sales. Some good, some bad. Has anyone written a book about this? It could be a best seller! April Books & Wine - I say this on every Shelve It, but I love your love of the library.

Also I die of jealous over the Books Of Wonder event, for sure.

July 24, 2012 - 10:29 am

Asheley (@BookwormAsheley) - OOH! I’m halfway thru Miracle by Elizabeth Scott AS WE SPEAK. I’m about to finish it in a little bit.

I just read This Is Not A Test a few days ago and my post went up. I think I just gushed about how much I loved it. It was my first Courtney Summers book, so yesterday I read Fall For Anything.

I’m rambling. You’re talking about some great books there, missy!

July 24, 2012 - 12:35 am

Paige - I got a copy of Losing Faith awhile back. I really need to read it! I also read Being Friends With Boys and it was pretty good. I hope you enjoy everything you got this week! You can check out my IMM on the blog!

VeganYANerds - I am so glad you got to go to the BoW event! Melina would have drawn a big crowd for sure and I have no doubt Gayle and Kristin did too!

So glad you enjoyed On the Jellicoe Road and I hope you love Graffiti Moon, another awesome Aussie read!

I am not a big zombie fan either but I have heard that the book is not really about zombies!

July 22, 2012 - 2:19 pm

Sash from Sash and Em - WEEEE! So much fun. I’m so glad we got to hang out!! xoxo

July 22, 2012 - 1:03 pm

elena - Hooray for Jellicoe Road! I definitely agree, it really is a book that needs to be reread. Hee, the library is perfect for satiating your bookish needs. I’m jealous yours gets books so quickly. I read Graffiti Moon recently! I liked it but don’t think I will write a review for it. I can’t wait to see yours though. I am not a zombie fan either but I want to read This Is Not a Test because I’ve heard the same things you have. Go renew your books, Estelle! ๐Ÿ™‚

July 22, 2012 - 11:28 am

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - EEP! You’ve got Graffiti Moon on your list! I absolutely ADORED that book. And the other books sound SO GOOD.

July 22, 2012 - 9:55 am

Tara - So first of all – I think YOU should write a book about garage sales! I totally think it’d be a bestseller ๐Ÿ™‚ Remind me on Gchat next week to tell you about my other garage sale story (not the bed story lol).

I can’t even tell you how pumped I am that you picked up books based on my reviews/our convos. You pretty much just made my week! I hope you enjoy them all and I can’t wait to chat with you about them when you’re finished!

Also – I need to read This Is Not a Test. *heads to library website* Thanks Estelle and Magan for the rec!
