Summer Reads Make Me Feel Fine

Yesterday was the first day of fall and I actually had to bring a jacket for my early morning walk to the subway. Two weeks ago, I thought sweating through my dresses was going to be a constant in my life because whoa, I did that a lot this summer. (Gross but true.) Needless to […]

Emma @ Miss Print - These are some fun books! Since you are an arbiter of good taste, many of these are still on my to read list (or were added after reading your reviews!).

October 3, 2015 - 1:39 pm

Cindy - 59 books this summer?! That is AMAZING! I think I read like 5 and was doing a happy dance. Hope the Fall is just as great for you!

JO - Hi,

Thank you for sharing this one with us. This is truly inspiring and it completely reminds me of the author I have been following since last year.

From now on, I will also follow this blog.

Anyhow, here’s the link to one of my favorite authors for your references – http://www.thevaleriechristophercommunity.com/

Thank you.

Alexa S. - It looks like you had some amazing summer reading experiences, E! I definitely see a few titles I really loved too, and I certainly see a few I’d like to check out. So glad that you were able to stick to your guns and only buy four books! YOU ARE MY HERO.

A Tribute to 2014: End of Year Survey | Estelle - […] Perfectly Good White Boy by Carrie Mesrobian: Carrie is such an honest writer, and this book from the male POV had such a surprisingly profound effect on me. Senior year of high school = tough, tough, tough but also exciting because it’s the first time we start to make decisions for ourselves (mostly, I think). […]

New To The Queue {7} - […] list: It was on my radar because I liked Carrie’s debut Sex & Violence. But it was Estelle’s review that made me officially add it to my […]

October 8, 2014 - 11:22 pm

Alexa S. - What stands out to me most about Perfectly Good White Boy based on your review is how these characters feel like they really came to life off the page. I love that! It’s one of my favorite things in the world when I feel like I can really get to know and love characters, and that definitely sounds like the case with this book.

October 3, 2014 - 8:32 am

Jamie - YASSSS I’m even more excited to read this one now that I know you loved it! I really enjoyed Sex & Violence so I’ll be curious to know what you think!! this one sounds just as great! Also, boo to me for trying not to go on Netgalley because I totally missed that this was up. *shakes fist*

October 2, 2014 - 2:40 pm

Mawa Mahima - Awesome review – it sounds so intriguing.

October 2, 2014 - 1:07 pm

Asheley (@BookwormAsheley) - OH MY GOODNESS ESTELLE. I can’t even tell you how much I LOVED Sex & Violence. I want to read this book so bad! Carrie M. really knows how to write those tricky male main characters so well (yes, I feel pretty sure I can say that even after reading just S&V). I’m so over the moon excited that you loved this one because I think I’ll love it too and it makes it even better that I love this author. OH YAY. This makes me so happy!

A Rare Mid-Week Shelve It (Plus Giveaway!)

I’m sorry to tell you that it’s not Sunday. But yesterday I was all dressed up and not post-gym gross for once so I decided to clean off my “kitchen” table (it’s in the living room, if I’m honest) and share with you what I’ve been buying lately: the results of my book buying ban, […]

Alexa S. - Yay for a new vlog from you, E! It’s just nice hearing you talk about your book purchases again 🙂 Also — You Are Here! Out of the Easy! Anatomy of a Single Girl! Great, great, great titles that I’ve also read and loved <3 I actually don't mind having a hardback/paperback with me on the morning commute; it's less likely that I'll damage it when I drop it, as opposed to my iPad where I read all my e-books!

March 16, 2014 - 4:39 pm

The Bookish Manicurist - All the Truth That’s In Me is wonderful, I hope you love it! Fixing Delilah sounds good, I’ve seen such good reviews – I promise I’ll read it!
The Winner’s Curse is getting a lot of hype, I have plans to read it too.

Yes, I worry I will ruin books when I carry them in my bag and you don’t have to worry with ebooks, but I do prefer reading actual books!

March 16, 2014 - 1:33 pm

Maggie @ Just a Couple More Pages - Don’t mind me, just catching up with blogs…Sex and Violence, All the Truth That’s In Me, and Out of the Easy were three of my favorite books from last year so I am super excited for you to read them!

March 13, 2014 - 10:03 pm

Lisa is Busy Nerding - It’s so different from everything on my tbr PLUS you loved it so basically yes. The idea of the movie stars meets YA sounds fun!

March 13, 2014 - 10:01 pm

Liz - Carrie Mesrobian is seriously one of the coolest people. I went to the launch for SEX AND VIOLENCE and she’s super witty and nice in person. I still need to read her book. I have not read THE VOW or ANATOMY OF A SINGLE GIRL but they are both on my pile so I’ll have to bump them up now.

I can’t wait to hear how you like THE WINNER’S CURSE! I hope you read it soon.

March 13, 2014 - 8:44 pm

Amy B - I am still hearing great things on these books. Even if I don’t win, I am going to find myself a copy.

March 12, 2014 - 9:19 pm

alicia marie - I loved Starstruck and it was definitely one of my favorite books last year!! I’m super excited to read Love Me 🙂

March 12, 2014 - 6:32 pm

Amy - I don’t think I have read anything like these two books before, they sound really interesting!

March 12, 2014 - 3:03 pm

Lucy - You picked up some good books! Seriously some of my favorites of last year- like S&V, Out of the Easy, and Tell the Wolves. Can’t wait to hear what you think of them.

I read Anatomy of a Boyfriend last year and really liked it! Very Judy Blume Forever-esque. I need to circle back with the companion book soon.

Don’t know how I’ve missed out on Fixing Delilah but you make it sound like a must-read.

Have a good week!

March 12, 2014 - 1:25 pm

Ashley @ Ok, Let's Read - You’re the second person I’ve seen mentioning Sex and Violence. I don’t know if it’s just me, but with a name like that.. I just really want to read that! I’ve also wanted to read Anatomy of a Single Girl for a while now.

I’ve heard mixed reviews about the Starstruck series, to be honest. And, that’s what makes me want to read it! I love when books have mixed reviews because then I can read them, form my own opinions and join in the conversation.

March 12, 2014 - 11:28 am

Shelby Brown - I have heard so many great things about the starstruck series, and I have been meaning to read them for a while. I get excited by a book that people are extremely passionate about!

Judith - I also wouldn’t mind Santa bringing you If You Find Me, Estelle. (I forgot! Did he?) Did I mention that I like that book? Because I do. It’s pretty good. I guess.

January 6, 2014 - 7:01 pm

Alexa S. - It makes me ridiculously happy to see that SOMETHING STRANGE & DEADLY is on your list, E! You know Rachel and I absolutely LOVED that series, and I hope you do too once you get a chance to read it. You’ll also have to let me know if you get Goodbye to All That — I have it but haven’t read it yet!

As for you M, I think you’ll enjoy Crash Into You. Even though it’s not my favorite of the McGarry books, it’s still pretty fun to read! Plus, the car and racing parts are awesome.

December 27, 2013 - 12:41 pm

Hannah @ So Obsessed With - Yippee for Crash Into You and Pivot Point! Those are both such good reads 🙂 Andddd I own If You Find Me and Something Strange and Deadly. I should probably get on reading those! Can’t wait to see if Santa brought you what you wanted!

December 25, 2013 - 8:35 am

alisa selene - Merry Christmas! I so want ‘Crash Into You’!

December 24, 2013 - 4:11 pm

Candice - With the exception of Something Strange and Deadly (which is fab, btw) I haven’t read any of these! I’d love a copy of The Art of Wishing; very nearly put this on my own list today! Hope Santa is good to both of you this year! Merry Christmas!

December 24, 2013 - 12:59 pm

Maggie @ Just a Couple More Pages - Sex & Violence, yay! I hope Estelle gets this so we can talk about it! And If you Find Me, Losing Hope, and Pivot Point were all favorite 2013 reads for me! Merry Christmas ladies!

December 24, 2013 - 12:46 pm

Lucy - I spy two books that I suspect will be on my year-end favorites list – If You Find Me and Sex and Violence. And Oh! Crash Into You and Losing Hope are awesome too.

Hope Santa is very good to both of you this year. Happy holidays, Estelle and Magan!

December 24, 2013 - 8:32 am

December 24, 2013 - 2:42 am

Jen @ Books and Other Happy Ever Afters - I actually own a few of these on my Kindle, but I hear that the physical copy of CRASH INTO YOU is gorgeous, so I would love a copy of that one too! And I can imagine THE ART OF WISHING being all sorts of pretty, too. All of these are great Christmas gifts to wish for, I’m crossing my fingers for you both! 🙂

December 24, 2013 - 1:55 am

Sara (of The Page Sage) - Something Strange and Deadly!! I really (selfishly) hope you get that book so we can talk about it after you read it! 🙂 Pivot Point sounds really great- I shamefully haven’t read it either.

Jen @ Pop! Goes The Reader - Estelle: I’m quite certain only dolphins and dogs could hear me when I saw The Art Of Wishing on your Christmas wishlist and let out a resounding yelp. What can I say? I just ADORE that novel! Here’s hoping Santa remembers to bring you a copy as I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on it. I really do think you would enjoy it! 🙂
Wishing you both a very Merry Christmas!
