Ellice - I LOVED On the Island, so I’ve had my eye on this one for a while. (I highly recommend On the Island. I think you’ll enjoy it. Also, if you read it, let me know so we can talk about it!! I still need to discuss this one with someone!). Glad to see that you enjoyed this one. I wasn’t sure if I would like this one or not, but then again, I really didn’t think I’d like On the Island, because survivor stories are usually not my cup of tea. I love it when a book is a pleasant surprise 🙂

Alexa Y. - I’m glad that this story was written realistically, and that you liked it well enough. There is something intriguing about it. I like that it tackles issues that feel very real.

Maggie @ Just a Couple More Pages - I had such mixed feelings about this book. Mostly I sympathized with Chris, I felt like he was really trying to do what was best for his family, even if he was misguided. I get why Claire was frustrated and I don’t think hers was an easy position to be in, but she just got under my skin and seemed like such a spoiled brat. Plus after the first 50 mentions I was so tired of hearing about her damn diabetes.

But, I do think Tracy Garvis-Graves is as talented writer who’s great at writing complex, interesting, and, at times, difficult situations. I really, really liked On the Island and I think the fact that I thought that book was so amazing made this one less enjoyable.
