Befriended: Talking Friendship with Author Emery Lord

We’re best friends, Estelle and I. We live miles and miles apart, but there’s seldom been a day in our three year friendship that we haven’t talked about something. Our friendship is the platform from which Rather Be Reading was created. Because of that, we’ve been really wanting to focus on friendship more. Something positive and […]

Cassie (Happy Book Lovers) - I’m so glad basically everyone is reading ORS. It was beautiful and truly deserves this much love. And I loved this post! Normally I’m not one to sit and read a ton of author posts or interviews, but I really love the friendship angle and the storytelling aspect of it rather than question and answer.

Judith - First off, LOVE this new feature! I love that your friendship has inspired you to talk to authors about their BFFs, and I love Emery Lord. (And Reagan and Dee of course <3) I also love that Emery wrote about different kinds of BFFs, because somehow, my best friends are also always girls who are completely different from me. And finally, I LOVE all of the gifts. Just SO MUCH LOVE!

Sana // artsy musings of a bibliophile - This post made me smile. I’m currently read Openm Road Summer and the friendship of Dee and Reagan is so realistic and true that I cannot be anything but happy while reading it.

Love the arrow necklace.

Ginger @ GReads! - Oh how I loved reading this post. I think friendships can be such an exciting and interesting outlet to explore in YA books. The relationship between Dee & Reagan in ORS felt so authentic to me. After having the chance to meet Emery this past weekend, it put so much of that story into perspective. She’s such a sweet, down to earth person. That really shows in her writing! Looking forward to more posts in this new feature!

Andi - I love this! I have been besties with my BFF since we were 5 so I completely get it. I spend every holiday with her and her family and my family. We go on vacations together and live in the same house (different apartments) but we are very different and I love that about us.

What a great feature! And what a great author to have start this off. Can’t wait for more.

Rachel - Awww I absolutely love this feature and post! Friendships are incredibly important for people, and I don’t think they’re focused on enough. So many books focus more on the romance, but friendships, especially when you’re younger, are pivotal in your life. I love hearing about Emery’s best friend relationship. Hers sounds a lot like mine, two completely opposites coming together. Also, the stuff she picked for Dee and Reagan is so cute! I LOVE that weekender bag.

Rebecca - I love this. So much. Plus, what Emery had to say about and friendship and her BFF? <3

P.S. You two are so cute. I'm so glad you guys were brought together, so we could ALL be brought together.
P.S.S. You guys have THE best features and this one is no exception. Love!

Nicole @ The Quiet Concert - THIS “I wanted to show that you don’t have to have everything in common to be best friends. You just have to show up, emotionally.”

AND THIS “It’s a sisterhood of choice, and it doesn’t matter how far apart we are or how many differing choices we make.”

So so true. I feel so grateful to have the relationship that I do with my best friend. Friendship is so important. Love this post! Love this book! And I especially love that weekender bag 😉
