Magan: Shelve It July 1, 2012

HI, FRIENDS! I kind of feel like a slacker because I don’t have a vlog for today’s Shelve It, but ya know, sometimes life gets a little hectic (and I look a little ca-razy today…therefore should not be seen in vlog format). Moving on. I did go to ALA this past week, but I’m just […]

Magan - Paige! You’ve got to pick up SCS soon! It’s sooooooooo good! Read it asap!

Paige - I’m so jealous of Second Chance Summer. It’s a monster of a book but it looks so good. Also Hush Hush is really good I loved the first two books! I hope you enjoy everything you got this week. Here’s my IMM!

Magan - Hi Kim! I didn’t ask for these books, but Simon & Schuster was gracious and kind enough to send them to me. They’re familiar with the types of books I usually read and are also pushing me to get out of my comfort zone a bit. ๐Ÿ™‚ They’re a fantastic publisher and I’m so thankful for their generosity. If you’re hoping to establish relationships with publishers, my advice is to follow up with them for the review books you’re reading. If you do netgalley or get books from conferences, make sure you touch base with them and do send through a review. I think follow-through and consistency goes a long way. Hope this helps!

VeganYANerds - I bet ALA was fun and hooray for meeting Morgan!

Nice stack of books! S&S in Australia are really fantastic, too. I still haven’t read Second Chance Summer, even though I have a copy and I enjoyed Hush, Hush. It’s not the best series ever written but it was a fun read!

April Books & Wine - I am curious how you’ll feel about the relationship in Hush, Hush. I’ve zero interest in reading that series, but I like reading people’s reactions to it. That’s strange isn’t it?

ANYWAYS!

I love seeing all those pretty contemps stacked up.

Happy reading ๐Ÿ˜€

margie {the bumble girl} - Oh, I love the Hush, Hush series! You’re either going to love Patch or hate him, lol. The third book was a bit of a disappointment, but I’m hoping that the last one will make up for it!
Great stack of books, I hope you’re enjoying them right now ๐Ÿ™‚

Aneeqah @ My Not So Real Life - I need to buy Second Chance Summer! I just finished Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour, which was SO cute. I heard they make an appearance in Second Chance Summer, which makes me ridiculously excited! I also enjoyed Hush, Hush, so I hope that you will too. =)

Happy reading! <3

Author Spotlight: A Chat with Gwendolyn Heasley

I’m so pleased to welcome Gwendolyn Heasley to Rather Be Reading. If you remember, last week I reviewed Gwen’s June release, A LONG WAY FROM YOU about a vibrant Texan who travels to New York to attend an art program for a month. A LONG WAY FROM YOU is a companion novel to her debut, […]

Mary @ My Sisters Bookshelf - This interview is great! I love that she put in favorite spots from the West Village WHERE SHE ACTUALLY LIVES! I’ll pick it up just for that! I’m about to post a grouchy review of Anna and the French Kiss (everyone has already read it but I wanted to explain what I don’t like about it so I could explain what I DO like about Lola!) I had a huge problem with the fact that it felt like the author hadn’t lived in Paris – which she hadn’t. It’s so much more fun when books are set in real places that authors know and love (or hate!) well!

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - I love that her companion novel was set in New York! It’s extra special since I now live here too. Oh, and I’m in complete agreement about cookies!
