Estelle - Hey Caro, thanks so much for coming by and sharing your thoughts. Even almost a year after I read it, this book and the main character still frustrate me. I think I felt Angel was maternal because of the strong connection she had with her siblings, but she just didn’t know how to apply that kind of care and attention to herself in a healthy way. It SO felt like all she did was think and have sex, for sure. That was probably the most frustrating because I feel like there had to be/was certainly more to her than that. Definitely check out Bauman’s debut novel though. I really really really enjoyed that one!

CaroG - I won a copy of this book in a giveaway…I felt the same way that you did about it, specially the sex part. However I did not see that motherly part of Angel, and I did not like her as a character. I had no problem whatsoever with her being open about her sexuality, but at a point it felt like it was all she did.

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - Ah Jersey. I was a Jersey girl before I was from the Bronx, so I do have a soft spot for the state. But I don’t particularly feel like reading this book unfortunately. It does sound like there are a few redeeming qualities, but I don’t know that I’d check it out anytime soon.

Cialina - Saw this on NetGalley, saw the synopsis. As much as the blurb said it was going to be the “real” Jersey, I knew it was too good to be true. I didn’t buy it. This definitely does not sound like my book based on your review. Plot sounds kinda ridiculous to be honest. :/

VeganYANerds - Great review, Estelle! I saw you add this on Goodreads and I think I added it too but I’ve read mixed reviews. I still want to read now but I won’t have super high expectations, it really does sound like a good beachy read.

elena - Whoa, three houses?! And she’s living alone at 18?! Incredible! I’m glad that Angel is likable even though the tales of her escapades weigh the book down. Ah, the lack of consequences would bother me too. In fact that’s a good part of the reason why I didn’t enjoy Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn’t Have). I’d like the book to be realistic in some sense! Thank you for a fantastic, honest review.

Estelle - Tara, thanks for the comment! I definitely think if you are looking for a fast read you should check this out. It’s the perfect beach reading… for real.

Estelle - Jacinda, glad I’m not alone in this. I know a lot of people in this situation may not get caught but it’s like she didn’t think about it at all? Right? Ugh. I feel bad for her bestie. For more than one reason.

Jacinda @ The Reading Housewives - “I was disappointed in the lack of consequence in the end.”<—THIS! This is why I was so freaking ticked off that this book! UGH! I was so hoping this was going to be a great book…and it wasn't to me in the end.

Tara @ Hobbitsies - Thanks for the review, Estelle! You definitely gave me more of an idea of what I’m getting myself into when I start reading Jersey Angel! I’ve never seen an episode of the Jersey Shore (don’t hurt me), so I’m curious to see what I think.
