A Tribute to 2014: End of Year Survey | Estelle - […] Jessica Darling’s IT List 2 was fantastically charming and funny; Complete Nothing by Kieran Scott was a nice look at a serious couple in high school struggling with all the challenges graduation brings. (This Cupid stuck in NJ series is just hilarious.) […]

September 18, 2013 - 3:09 am

Alexa Y. - The fact that you referenced Anastasia Krupnik has me SOLD on reading this book. Seriously, I loved her — and because you loved her AND Jessica? I’m definitely going to be checking this book out, along with the rest of the Jessica Darling books.

September 14, 2013 - 5:33 pm

Ri - The thing I love most about JD is how relatable she is. Whether its her witty or sarcastic thoughts or her trying to fit into reality while maintaining her true self, we’ve all been there. This series is one of few I never get tired of reading over and over and it makes me laugh everytime.

September 13, 2013 - 6:58 pm

Joli @ Actin' Up with Books - Jessica Darling made me fall in love with young adult characters as an adult. When the book first published, I was 24 reading a ton of chick-lit (books for “my age group” and books for Grad School, but once I read Sloppy Firsts, I wanted to read more books with characters like Jessica – young, fun, sarcastic, and REAL.

This is my favorite series EVER and I am so happy that Megan is giving readers a younger Jessica. I won a copy of this for my niece – I want this to be the book that makes her fall in love with reading, and I hope that I am lucky to win this one for me (if not, I’m getting a copy to read along with her asap).

Thanks for sharing your love of this book and the series and hosting this fantastic giveaway. Anyone who wins will be lucky to experience the awesomeness of Megan McCafferty and Jessica Darling.

September 13, 2013 - 6:57 pm

Vivian - I haven’t read any of this series’ books, but I’ve heard good things!

September 11, 2013 - 10:34 am

Jennifer Jensen - I haven’t read Jessica Darling novels before and only recently discovered them. Looking forward to reading them all! Thanks for the giveaway!!

September 11, 2013 - 1:48 am

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - I’m TOTALLY going to pick this one up! My favourite Jessica was in the first two books, when she was silly and snarky — I found that she lost a bit of her snarkiness in the last couple of books. Plus, I like a good middle grade read now and then, so this one sounds just perfect!

September 10, 2013 - 11:07 pm

Amanda @ Late Nights with Good Books - I thought that the Jessica Darling series overall got a bit weaker as the series continued and Jessica got older. So with that logic, a story about an earlier Jessica should be good…I think? lol This sounds super cute and like a lot of fun, in all honesty. I regret the fact that I never really had a MG literary heroine. If I did, though, I can imagine Jessica being a fantastic one.

September 10, 2013 - 7:47 am

Maggie, Young Adult Anonymous - To my everlasting shame, I’ve only read the first Jessica Darling book. I KNOW! And I loved it so I don’t know why I haven’t read the others. Oh wait, Marcus Flutie. I can’t with his redheaded dreads!!

September 10, 2013 - 12:14 am

Bookworm1858 - If one has not read the Darling books, should one start with this book or read the original books first? I think I read Sloppy Firsts years ago and didn’t really connect with it but I want to give them a go again as someone who is far more up on YA lit now.

September 9, 2013 - 10:29 pm

Theresa M. - I love that Jessica, while being our protagonist and someone you want to see succeed, is a complicated, authentic individual that makes her easy to relate to, and I think most readers can see themselves in her.

September 9, 2013 - 11:58 am

Hazel @ Stay Bookish - I love love love Jessica Darling! Truth be told, I was a little disappointed that Megan McCafferty decided to do a prequel instead of another book that follows Perfect Fifths. Nonetheless, I cannot wait to explore and read about middle school Jessica! I’m glad she has kept her humor and spunk! Great review, Estelle! <3

September 9, 2013 - 11:50 am

Tammy - I got the free preview of this book on my kindle. It looks like a fun read.

Hannah @ So Obsessed With - I SO want the Julep January & Avery nail polishes. Love those colors – and I’ve been on a pink polish kick lately!

September 18, 2013 - 2:55 am

Alexa Y. - I’m loving both palettes ladies! But I think my favorite would be the one for Jessica Darling because it’s just so bright and colorful and happy.

September 10, 2013 - 7:57 am

September 5, 2013 - 10:31 am

September 3, 2013 - 6:26 pm

Alisa Selene - Love the color choices for fan girl!

September 3, 2013 - 10:51 am

Rachel - I’m actually painting my nails as I’m reading this! Haha. I love the Fangirl choices. I would totally wear Denver. And Avery. But I wear every shade of pink sooo that’s kind of a given. I know I say this every time, but I love these posts so much.

September 3, 2013 - 10:44 am

elena - LOVE these color! rainbow has the best covers and i love the mint/pink combo.

September 2, 2013 - 2:31 pm

Annie - The palette for Fangirl is just as pretty as the cover itself! I’m a huge fan of pastels and Denver & January really speak to me!

September 2, 2013 - 11:33 am

kimberlyfaye - I love both, but Fangirl is my favorite. That mint green is gorgeous. 🙂

September 2, 2013 - 9:39 am

Bookworm1858 - I love that you both chose 4 colors! I think I’d prefer the Jessica Darling color palette just because I tend to be more into bright colors especially since it still feels very much like summer here but as it cools down, the colors of Fangirl will also be appealing to me.

Lauren D. - Estelle, thank you so much my dear! That was the sweetest little introduction and it just made my day to hear it. Such amazing communities are created here in the blog world and I am so thankful for them. I have connected with so many amazing people, like yourself, and I am blown away by the kindness and support that I receive from friends like you. I’m so glad you did email me and just happy I could help ease your mind during that stressful time of wedding planning. Thank you again for sharing my book. I hope you enjoy it and get inspired by its pages!

June 25, 2013 - 11:34 am

Jamie - Looks like you guys had a great time! So wish I could have come! Curious about Burning because I just got that in the mail and then saw Rachel’s review of it!

June 24, 2013 - 12:08 pm

Maggie @ Just a Couple More Pages - Ok, I’m going to be creepy, are you guys at Sala? I recognize the restaurant and I know it’s somewhere I’ve been many times, but if it’s not Sala I’m totally blanking.

June 24, 2013 - 12:03 pm

Brittany @ The Book Addict's Guide - Ahhh that event looks like so much fun! I saw all your tweets and got super jealous that you guys all get to hang out together haha 🙂 But very cool — I love seeing blogger friends together! It just shows you how amazing this community is and how it brings us all together 🙂
Okay. I need to read Dangerous Girls. I keep trying to read like 5 books at once. Maybe I should just start them all so I don’t forget hahaha. I’m so terrible at picking what to read next… Don’t let me forget about it though! 🙂

June 23, 2013 - 11:48 pm

Bookworm1858 - Haven’t been blown away by any books lately, alas but I also really enjoyed Monsters University. I wasn’t sure because reviews were mixed but I was absolutely charmed!

June 23, 2013 - 10:42 pm

Alexa Y. - I can’t wait to hear what you think of Burning! I really am curious about that book, particularly since a few people have talked it up to me.

Also – it was REALLY good to see you today. I’ve missed you! It helped me a lot through all the craziness that’s going on – and you know what that is. Love it and love YOU <3

YAY FOR SECOND HELPINGS, I think that is my favorite Jessica Darling book of the whole series.

ALSO.

I am dancing a little over how awesome your YA For NJ bid package was. 🙂

December 15, 2012 - 8:54 pm

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - Awww — I’ve missed your vlogs! I’m going to try to do one soon … now that I have a webcam on our new laptop! I’m mildly envious that you actually got to OPEN your Secret Santa present — my hubby made me put mine under the tree and wait ’til Christmas =P Oh well, the anticipation’s half the fun, right? I hope I’ll also have a Jennifer Echols book under the tree as well — she was on the wishlist that I gave to my hubby as one of my top picks. Based on your rave reviews, I’m really excited to read her books!

December 15, 2012 - 7:52 pm

Rebecca @ Reading Wishes - Wow, $13, 000 is amazing! I totally would have brought something from the auction but they were only shipping to the US so I couldn’t 🙁 Oh well, it seems like they did a great job of raising money! I haven’t read anything by Niki Burnham so will be interested to see what you think of her books. I only just found out about The Girl in the Wall a few weeks ago but it looks really good and I’ve heard great things about it. Second Helpings! I read Sloppy Firsts earlier this year but am looking forward to continuing the series. Star Crosses – sqee! I love Jennifer Echols and even though I don’t read Adult, it sure does look amazing! I’m even tempted to read it anyway ;D

Amazing book haul and I hope you get to read all the books you want to read before the year is over. Go you!
