Adaptation by Malinda Lo - Review (Adaptation #1) | Never Too Fond of BooksNever Too Fond of Books - […] Rather Be Reading: Despite my drawbacks, Lo successfully left me aching to know what happens to her characters. The blending of paranormal elements and conspiracy theories was incredibly intriguing. Pieces of the story felt so real to me that I couldn’t help but be wary of flocks of birds when I saw them. I have no idea what will happen next for Reese, but I am very anxious to see what Lo has in store for us. […]

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - The thing about this book is that the mystery behind the birds and what happened to the characters is so DARN intriguing. I may not know how to feel about the sort of contemporary turn it takes, but I do not that my curiosity must be satisfied when it comes to the sci-fi bit.

elena - hmm this does sound like a book that makes you question a lot of things but the change of direction sounds jarring. i like that there are conspiracy theories though! insightful interview as always, m!

September 21, 2012 - 6:30 pm

Aneeqah - This book sounds SO good! I mean, conspiracy theories? Who DOESN’T want to read about that?! However, I can see why you didn’t love this one, Magan. It seems like there’s a distinct line between the action and the more contemporary aspect of the story. It sounds like it would have been better if it had been a little more mixed together. Nonetheless, I’ll keep an eye out for this book at my library! The synopsis definitely has me intrigued, to say the least.

Fabulous review Magan! <3

September 21, 2012 - 3:10 pm

Kristen - Conspiracy theories? YES! We don’t get enough of those in NON-dystopian YA. Would love to see more in contemps. From everything else you said, though, this is a book that I may or may not enjoy. I’ll look for it at my library and see. Great review! 🙂

September 9, 2012 - 6:42 pm

Aneeqah - Happy belated birthday Magan! I hope you had a fun filled day. <3 I think Fanthomless is a companion to the first two books in the series, so I don't think it's necessary to read the first two. And Estelle sent a seriously awesome package! She is so awesome. 😉 And Magan, you seriously need to read City of Bones!! Cassie is a total genius. You need to experience the awesomeness of her books. Seriously.

Fabulous haul!! Enjoy all your books! <3

July 16, 2012 - 6:31 am

VeganYANerds - Sounds like you had a really great weekend, hun!

I think Simone’s books are quite fun, and a bit cheesy but that’s part of the appeal. And I have read SO many good reviews of the hex Hall series, I am determined to read them this year.

Your books from ALA sound good, especially Through to Me and Insignia – I got it this week too and while it doesn’t sound like something I’d normally choose, I keep reading about how good it is!

July 15, 2012 - 10:34 pm

elena - YAY FOR SLEEPING IN!! I <3 Half Price Books too, sad that there isn't one here though. My cousin always jokes I should just own a HPB. I LOVE HEX HALL and I really hope you will too! I think Demonglass was what made me really love the series though. I agree about the authors thing, the power of technology! Also hmm, Who I Kissed has a certainly interesting summary. I've heard good things about Insignia, can't wait to read it. I think The Forsaken has a really pretty cover. I hope you had a fantastic weekend, Magan! x

July 15, 2012 - 10:17 pm

manda-rae - Hex Hall and Perfect Chemistry; I will pick those two up one day (it’s all about will power). And I’ve heard a lot of good things about Insignia from multiple people, but I still don’t know if I’m sold on the book’s premise enough to read it. I’ll be on the lookout for your review.

Thanks for visiting my haul.

July 15, 2012 - 2:21 pm

Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl - Hi Magan! Always nice to watch your Shelve It posts! I love your bookshelf, by the way! So organized!

I featured Insignia in my Sunday post as well! I just met S.J. Kincaid at the Dark Days signing in SLC on Wednesday, and she told me all about her book. It sounds like a lot of fun, and she is super nice. I’m excited to read my copy as well! We’ll have to compare notes. 🙂

I’m still working my way through Flirting in Italian. You’ve intrigued me enough with the train wreck of an ending, that I’ve decided to trudge through it to see what happens. Then I’ll be starting in on Lies Beneath by Anne Greenwood Brown.

Have fun reading!
