From Hollywood to Your Bookshelf: McGosling Forever

Fun Estelle fact: I am obsessed with pop culture and celebrity gossip. Alexa from Alexa Loves Books and I talk about this… a lot. Which is kind of great. Not everyone gets it. During one of our many conversations, we thought it might be fun to think of some “true” Hollywood stories that would translate […]

Liz (Along for the Read) - Oh my goodness, I love this. Can you please write this book? They are definitely one of those Hollywood couples I always wished would rekindle. I was devastated when they broke up.

Kristina - I forgot about that clip. WOW. He’s just WOW.

Asheley Tart (@BookwormAsheley) - Oh yes, this is good. And what a great couple – so pretty together. And that quote about God Bless The Notebook – good gracious. Yes, let’s get these two back together and pronto. (And I love how stylish they both are. They fit well.) FUN.

Alexa Y. - Basically, doing these posts was one of the best ideas we’ve ever had! And you chose the perfect pair for yours – Ryan + Rachel! (I’ve watched that Best Kiss video way more times than I would be willing to admit…). Seriously though, their love story? Perfect for a YA book. Perhaps someone should write that one….

Leah - Oh. …oh MY. Estelle. This post has done things to me that shouldn’t be happening. I’m seriously LOVING every single thing about this & am totally incoherent right now.

sarah - i kind of want to write this now…

Allison L - I am kinda in love with this post. I used to love, love, LOVE Ryan and Rachel together, and I too was so upset when they broke up. And that best kiss video? AHHH! I remember watching that when it happened, and then rewinding it to watch it again. Has it really been that long since they broke up? I think part of me still refuses to believe it. 😉

elena - I WOULD TOTALLY READ A BOOK BASED ON THIS AND I NEED THEM BACK TOGETHER. LOVE IS DIED THE DAY THEY BROKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SIT ON RYAN’S LAP AGAIN, RACHEL!!!!! RE-ENACT THAT KISS AGAIN!!!!!!!

Natalie @ books, etc - You don’t even know how much I love you for writing this post. Like, seriously. I love Ryan Gosling (which is no secret) and I loved him and Rachel McAdams together! I’m so sad I never saw them wandering around the city when they were together – although a couple of my friends did and I’m insanely jealous of them! Oh yeah, Ryan Gosling’s mom lives in my city, so he stops in every once in a while, and I kick myself every time her comes and I don’t see him and make him fall in love with me! 🙁

Britttany @ The Book Addict's Guide - How cute is this! I’m really digging this idea. I loved those two together and HELLO. THE NOTEBOOK. It was freaking fantastic. I even liked it better than the book, so I would love to see a book based on their real romance! I would totally read that.

July 18, 2013 - 9:54 am

Kristin - What an original idea! And you are totally right. I would read a Ryan Gosling YA book in a heartbeat. I love him. Think I’ll go watch The Notebook now…

Bookworm1858 - Thank you for sharing that video-one of my faves, which indicates to me that today will be a good day.

Hazel - I totally love these two together!! Oh and I’m really glad to see Sloppy Firsts in your recommendations. I absolutely enjoyed reading that series, it was a crazy ride. <3

Cee - Oh man, this takes me back!

I was so in love with the two of them. They made sense together. In my teenage drama queen days, I remember thinking that if certain couples (like Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson) did not make it, then love is dead. I felt that way about Ryan and Rachel. I was sooooo devastated when they broke up. Like, WHYYYYY.

The only Hollywood romance I can think of off the top of my head is Lindsay Lohan/Aaron Carter/Hilary Duff? LOLLLL. I think that would make a good YA novel, especially if it became about female friendships (+ girl power and maybe a bit of revenge mixed into it) instead of what actually happened irl with the three.
