Magan’s May 12, 2013 Shelve It

Surprise, surprise! I’m back with a vlog for this week’s Shelve It! It’s been a while, huh? I know — I’m sorry about that. There seems to rarely be quiet time to do a vlog with our baby girl happily crawling around everywhere. (But seriously — what a joy it is to have her!) I […]

Alexa Y. - Magan, you look beautiful, as always! And it’s nice to see your face in a video again. I am glad you’re enjoying the time spent with your baby girl and D!

TLA sounds like it was lots of fun, and most of the books you got are ones that I’m very curious about. Hope you enjoy them!

May 13, 2013 - 1:49 pm

Ashley - I need to remind myself to be like this when I’m at ALA. Grab what I want and have time for, but don’t be greedy.

May 12, 2013 - 9:39 am

Bookworm1858 - Yay-I got Fangirl too and I cannot wait to dive in and start reading it!

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - Estelle — you MUST read Divergent. It is fantastic. That is all.

P.S. I think I almost need to stop reading your blog for a while, because I keep putting books on hold at the library based on your reviews and IMMs. Seriously. Hubby currently thinks that I’m trying to move the library’s entire collection into our house.

April 9, 2012 - 8:48 am

Giselle - Wow great haul! Variant is one I bought and totally forgot about it. Haha. Oops. It sounds so good though!!

Jasmine Rose - I’ve really been looking forward to reading Variant for a while, but I just haven’t managed to work it into my reading schedule yet, sadly. I look forward to seeing what you think about it, though.
I LOVE TO DO LISTS!!!!
ahem.
Ahhh! I want those owl bookmarks! I have a cute bookmark with the same owls on them that Sarah @ The Book Life sent me for Christmas :]

April 8, 2012 - 9:21 am

Magan - April, I had no idea Variant was so good. I’d never heard of it until last week. Can’t wait to read it! AND THE BOOKMARKS! Me tooooo!

April 8, 2012 - 9:19 am

Magan - Sash, I think Variant will be the next book I read after I finish Unbreak My Heart. You’ve made me all excited to read it! And thanks.. this was the IMM I changed my outfit for. Hahaha. 🙂

April 8, 2012 - 9:18 am

Magan - Mands, YAY! So glad you added Variant! Let’s read it together. 🙂

April 8, 2012 - 9:18 am

Magan - Elena, you should definitely give Under the Never Sky a try. It was a little slow for me in the beginning, but I really enjoyed it overall. Great description of Divergent, too! Thanks for the comment!

April 8, 2012 - 9:01 am

Ginger @ GReads! - First of all, YOU ARE SO PRETTY! I love your hair & I want it 🙂 haha and second, those owl bookmarks are the cutest!

P.S. I see Estelle is reading Jumping Off Swings. I bought that book forever & a day ago, but never read it. Curious to check out her review!

April 8, 2012 - 8:45 am

Philippa - Great books for the week! I loved Divergent and just read Under the Never Sky myself 🙂

April 8, 2012 - 12:00 am

elena - I’ve heard mixed things about Under the Never Sky but I really want to give it a shot! I need to reread Divergent too before Insurgent comes out. Hee, I love that she wrote “choose wisely.” I think you should start a petition or something for Estelle to read Divergent because she’s missing out! My friend describes it as, “The Hunger Games meets an elaborate Myers-Briggs test.” Also people are sorted into intense, dystopian Hogwarts styled factions. Your bookmarks are super cute. I really like the cupcake and punctuation ones too. Hope you enjoy your books!

I Haven’t bought many books since ALA. Just a couple. I need to tackle this pile!
I hope you feel better soon.

Magan - Hi Mands! Thanks! I am a big waver, I suppose. Who knew it was a thing I did? HA!

January 31, 2012 - 10:46 am

Magan - Hi Megan! Thanks so much!

January 31, 2012 - 10:45 am

Magan - Sharon: IT. WAS. FANTASTIC. Seriously beautiful. I think it’s a good idea to wait for all the books in a series. It’s hard to keep up with them w/out having to re-read. I tried to just read Crossed when Matched came out, but think I would have been more into it if I had re-read Matched. :-/

January 31, 2012 - 10:44 am

Magan - Yay! Thanks, Sasha! I can’t waitttt to read it!

January 31, 2012 - 10:43 am

Magan - Kristi, thanks so much! I will definitely have to finagle a way to keep making the vlogs. My nerves + husband watching = weird me in the vlog. Hah. Thanks so much for coming by the blog!

January 31, 2012 - 10:42 am

Magan - Thank you, Alison! I can’t wait to read it! Still just stunned I now own it! 🙂

January 31, 2012 - 10:40 am

January 31, 2012 - 10:39 am

Magan - Ginger, YES to similar book tastes. I love it. And In Honor – wowza. Discussion must happen soon. TSK, um, just unbelievably awesome!

January 31, 2012 - 10:38 am

Magan - Alexa! Yay! Next book club! 🙂 I am going to try to read it soon as well!

January 30, 2012 - 9:38 pm

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - I’m so happy I could do something so nice for someone so awesome! I sincerely hope you enjoy the book. I’m going to read it (if my schedule works out) this weekend 🙂 And all the other books you mentioned sound really great too!

January 30, 2012 - 7:55 am

Ginger @ GReads! - Oh Magan, look at your & your pretty face 🙂 I’m starting to realize that you and I share similar book tastes, which I think is AWESOME. We need to discuss our thoughts on In Honor. And as soon as you finish The Survival Kit, we must discuss that one too 🙂 Thank you for the sweet mentions!

January 30, 2012 - 6:03 am

Jessie Marie - Hey there. First off, ladies, your blog is beautiful. Really stunning. Secondly, loved your vlog; I like when the vlogs are a little bit more than just a list. So after watching that, I suppose I’ll order Wither. You’ve twisted my arm and convinced me. Maybe The Survival Kit, too!

Anywho, great list and have a great week!

January 29, 2012 - 8:20 pm

Sharon @ Fictionally Inclined - Great vlog. 🙂

Ohh, you got to read In Honor. I’m so envious! I am so impatient to read it because it sounds absolutely fantastic. I’m so glad it was as good as it sounds. As for the other books mentioned, Across the Universe is wonderful! ♥ I really want to read the Chemical Garden trilogy, but I’m going to try to wait until all three of them are out so I can read all of them at once. We’ll see how that works out…

January 29, 2012 - 7:58 pm

Megan - Oooh! I can’t wait to read Wither AND Fever!! Loved your blog 🙂

Magan - Aww, thanks Ginger! I can’t wait to meet you tomorrow! I’m looking forward to ALA. I have way more books than I know what to do with right now.

January 19, 2012 - 1:14 pm

Magan - Thanks, Brittani! YEP! I was shocked it had the book too. I think my library has a decent selection of books, but it’s a matter of reserving them and waiting. Thanks so much for your awesome comment!

January 19, 2012 - 1:12 pm

Magan - Oh, great to know, Heather! I don’t know when I’ll read Dying to Know You. I need to make a list of the order in which I’d like to read everything.

January 19, 2012 - 1:10 pm

Magan - Hi Alison! Thanks for the comment! I am starting Wanderlove right now. I’m so excited to read it!

January 19, 2012 - 1:09 pm

Magan - April, I cried huge crocodile tears. I loved Before I Fall so much. I haven’t been able to start another book yet that I’m super in love with. I quit reading one last night because it didn’t compare. 🙂

January 19, 2012 - 1:04 pm

Magan - Mands, I’m sad you didn’t like Mara Dyer. I always get really nervous when there’s lots of hype about a book. I hope I love it!

January 16, 2012 - 8:23 pm

Mands - Great IMM! I didn’t like Mara Dyer, after all the hype it let me down big time but I would like to read Across the Universe.

January 16, 2012 - 3:27 pm

April Books & Wine - I shall forever love the library!

Before I Fall is SO good. I’m glad that you are loving it so far. And yes, have tissues handy.

Have fun reading!!

January 15, 2012 - 6:34 pm

Brittani - Awesome IMM Magan! Your library has Before We Fall? I’m jealous. I’ve been wanting to read it but neither of the libraries I go to have a copy. Mara Dyer is amazing!!! Magan - Amber, I’m so glad you loved it! The sequel to Hourglass (called Timepiece) comes out on June 12, 2012. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. I’m sure we’ll learn SO much more about all the talents. YAY! You made my night. 🙂

November 26, 2011 - 12:18 pm

Amber - Hourglass: I read this book in literally a day, thanks for the great suggestion! Although I was really disappointed that the story never went very far into Lily and her ‘talent.’ It was very much like a teenage girl’s version of X-men and I loved it!

November 8, 2011 - 10:50 pm

Magan - Megan, I haven’t read that book. Definitely going to find it on Goodreads so I can add it to my never-ending list!

Jamie! The list is pretty diverse; never until I typed this list did I realize how all over the place my reading choices are! Definitely look into Small Town Sinners and Towelhead. Be warned – Towelhead deals with serious stuff. :-/

La Coccinelle – Please read The Book Thief. It would be an injustice not to!

November 8, 2011 - 10:01 pm

La Coccinelle - I really liked Room, though it’s not the sort of thing I usually read. I’ve got The Book Thief in my TBR pile…

November 8, 2011 - 9:42 pm

Jamie - SO MANY OF MY FAVES ON HERE…The Book Thief, Wither and The Hunger Games! I own The Glass Castle but haven’t gotten to it yet..along with Room. I haven’t heard of Small Town Sinners and Towelhead but now you have me intrigued!!

AND YAY FOR FIRST TTTers!!

November 8, 2011 - 6:13 pm

Megan - This is a great list! Have you read Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier? It’s time travel and historical fiction all wrapped up in a pretty little book. Here is my list http://wp.me/pzUn5-F9

November 8, 2011 - 4:38 pm

Magan - Same here, Alexa! I just read it this year, and after I finished it all I could think was Where have these been? How did I not know about them?!
Kit – I cried a lot while reading The Book Thief, too. Emotional roller coaster!
Nicole – YAY! So glad you found the list helpful! 🙂

November 8, 2011 - 2:44 pm

kit - The Hunger Games is on my list too, it’s not something I would ever have picked up normally but I’d read so many good things about it that I caved in the end!

I really enjoyed The Book Thief, although it did make me cry on a train, which was reasonably embarrassing… 🙂

November 8, 2011 - 2:25 pm

Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books - I really loved The Hunger Games trilogy, though I only got around to reading it this year 🙂

November 8, 2011 - 11:02 am

Nicole - Great list Magan, added some of this to mine to read too.
