Shelve It: Oh Hello + Books

Happy Sunday! Books, books, books! Lots to read and share with you today. I swear, my apartment is going to cave in some day. If that happens, I’ll be sure to record it so I can share it on a future Shelve It. (Ha.) I hope your reading is going well, and in addition to […]

Alexa S. - You look so adorable in this video, E! And I absolutely LOVE your necklace. Hooray for an awesome book haul! I’m hoping you enjoy Empire Girls as much as I did, since I thought it was pretty fun (and finished it in one afternoon). Also, I’m very much looking forward to reading Let’s Get Lost! And you’re totally convincing me to go and get Nantucket Red now!

April Books & Wine - URGH I HIT POST COMMENT BEFORE FINISHING THE VIDEO.

Okay back to commenting:

I am so glad Let’s Get Lost is really good. I like the thought of people coming in and out of our lives at the right time.

SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE I LOVE IT. That’s annoying when you don’t know when a book is coming.

I need to read those Nantucket books.

Corey Ann Haydu is awesome! Don’t you love when book events are good? Loved Life By Committee!

I like the cover for What I Had Before I Had You. It’s pretty. Also, it does sound really interesting.

Whoop whoop for books! See you at BEA?

May 18, 2014 - 2:07 pm

Tammy - I loved Nantucket Blue and can’t wait to read Nantucket Red. Keep on championing the series, it deserves it. And yes I did munch on a snack while watching (bottlecaps & tootsie rolls). I mowed the lawn this morning so your vlog was my well-deserved break. Thanks!

Stephanie @ Love.Life.Read - Nantucket Blue is the best!! I would say my favorite place to visit in the summer would be either: 1) camping somewhere with my family or 2) North Carolina. Happy Reading!

Nikki H - Anywhere with a pool!

May 14, 2013 - 8:47 pm

my fav place to summer is ummmmmmm

florida

May 14, 2013 - 3:44 pm

Jasmine Baggenstos - I don’t really take vacations or anything, so my favorite spot in the summer is here in Seattle. There’s a little park by the waterfront that’s never too crowded. The view is nice and the ocean breeze keeps it cool :]

May 13, 2013 - 5:08 pm

Erin D. - I love visiting water. The ocean is my favorite, but lakes and rivers are fun too. And camping is a must!

May 13, 2013 - 4:57 pm

Joli @ Actin' Up with Books - Thanks for the opportunity to win this book. It has been on my wish list for a while.
I love going to the lake in the summer. My family vacations at a lake in North Carolina every year and it is extremely relaxing and I always read a lot of books!

May 13, 2013 - 4:49 pm

Molli - My favorite place to go in summer is Florida! This is my second year going with friends.

Thanks for hosting the interview with the author. I’m really looking forward to reading this book, and I liked seeing her process. I think I’m the same way, as far as the more often I write, the more connected I am to my characters.

May 12, 2013 - 8:19 pm

alicia marie - I love going to the beach : )

May 12, 2013 - 5:01 am

Sheri @ Tangled Up In Books - Favorite place to go in the summer? Probably anywhere on the west coast. So pretty 🙂 Great interview 🙂

May 12, 2013 - 2:16 am

Brianna - My grandparents lake house – The beach, family, boating, and the hammock. It’s my favorite place to curl up with a book or especially if I need to get away from all the fast paced thing we call life.

May 12, 2013 - 2:00 am

Wendy - This sounds like the perfect book to start the summer off with!! Loved reading this review!

May 10, 2013 - 10:10 pm

Cyndi M. - Since I live in Southern California, I pretty much enjoy being here during the summer! I can go to the beach, or up to the mountains!!

May 10, 2013 - 5:47 pm

Ellice - This book makes me crave the beach. I live in Mississippi, so the gulf coast is close enough that I visit it often in the summertime… But it never seems often enough! I need to read this one to get in the summer/beach frame of mind 🙂

May 10, 2013 - 3:54 am

Lucía Valencia - The beach!

May 10, 2013 - 1:13 am

eve - adding it to my to read pile

May 8, 2013 - 8:49 am

Ginger @ GReads! - I really enjoyed reading Leila’s answers to your questions. I had no idea she would be continuing the story, so that makes me very very happy. I was left with an unfinished feeling, so I’m glad to see there’s more story coming our way. Also, I LOVE the setting of Nantucket. And that description of “swimming in champagne” – though I’ve never been, it still makes total sense to me!

May 8, 2013 - 12:21 am

Lisa @ Lisa Likes Books - I don’t really go anywhere in the summer. I like to go places that are colder when it’s summer, though. I’m TOTALLY a winter person, so a break from the hot would be nice. I like sitting near the ocean or other bodies of water, but I generally don’t like beaches because I hate sand. (Oh man, it gets ALL over the place. Bleck. Hahha.)

May 7, 2013 - 10:42 pm

Maggie @ Just a Couple More Pages - I loved this and I’m so excited to hear she’s writing a follow up. I hope it has lots of Zack!

Hollie @ Music, Books and Tea - I’ve been looking forward to reading this one ever since I first heard about it, so I’m really happy you enjoyed this one so much! I can’t wait to get my own copy of it. I loved the interview too, it made me want to visit Nantucket even more haha. Great review! 🙂

May 7, 2013 - 1:58 pm

Tammy - The northwest, Oregon & Washington, the temperature is usually cooler than where I live.

May 7, 2013 - 1:55 pm

Sarah O - So excited to read this book. I’ve been obsessed with the cover since I first saw it and I’m glad it didn’t disappoint. When I was a kid we’d go to Shediac, New Brunswick every summer, where my grandparents lived. We’d usually drive over to PEI too and go to the beach. Good summer memories.

May 7, 2013 - 1:15 pm

Justine @ paperback heart - My favorite place to visit during the summer is my hometown – San Diego! You can’t beat the weather!

May 7, 2013 - 11:55 am

shokufeh - I’m excited to read this. I love to go anywhere with water in the summer.

May 7, 2013 - 10:42 am

bookrockbetty - I LOOOOVED this book! I feel guilty entering, but hey… I liked it so much I plan on buying a finished copy anyway. 🙂 Definitely an awesome summer read! Great Q&A! 🙂

May 7, 2013 - 10:41 am

Daphne - i am from Louisiana and my fave place to visit, any time of year, is New Orleans. granted, summer isn’t the best time because it’s outrageously hot, but if i can walk around New Orleans in July when I’m 8 mo pregnant, I can do ANYTHING.

I’ve been hearing really great things about this book and i’m excited to read it.

May 7, 2013 - 10:40 am

Alexa Y. - My favorite summer vacation spot is this sandbar that my family has been going to for years in the Philippines. Known only as Carbin Reef, it’s a sandbar that disappears completely when high tide is. I’ve got a lot of family memories attached to the place, and I hope to make many more to come.

May 7, 2013 - 10:33 am

Alexa Y. - I am super excited to read Nantucket Blue! It sounds like the perfect summer read, and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of it – possibly today. I like reading about friendships; I think it’s always cool to read a book that focuses on the strange twists and turns that friendships can take.

Also, this interview was fab! I’ve never been to Nantucket, but now I definitely want to go someday.

May 7, 2013 - 9:57 am
