Getting to Know Paula Stokes, Author of LIARS, INC.

Author Paula Stokes reached out to me via social media when she saw I had read a review copy of LIARS, INC. Several changes went into the final edits of LIARS, and she created a document so her readers could be aware of them before reviewing. (I’d like to add that reading the document only allowed me to love […]

Bre @ Booky Berries - This interview is so cute. Paula Stokes is so cute. You are so cute.

Sometimes I say a word so much it doesn’t even feel like a word anymore. Guess what the word I killed this time was.

April 14, 2015 - 3:18 pm

Magan - Definitely do, Meg! She’s SO great and I have a fond adoration for her. I was so glad to learn of the changes that were made. Some were very subtle, of course, but I loved that I got to know and didn’t harp on a detail that later would have been so insignificant or nonexistent.

April 14, 2015 - 3:15 pm

Magan - Alexa, I need to read Lainey too. E and I have each read one! Thank you for reading the interview! <3

April 14, 2015 - 3:08 pm

Emma @ Miss Print - Great interview! I’m even more excited to read Liars, Inc. now. I tracked down a copy last month so hopefully I’ll be reading it in between some obligation reading soon.

April 7, 2015 - 4:59 pm

Alexa S. - Loved reading your interview with Paula, M! I’ve loved connecting with her on Twitter, though I have yet to read any of her books. Definitely going to have to remedy that after seeing this post though!

April 7, 2015 - 4:06 pm

Meg - Very fun interview! Stokes is a new-to-me author, but I’m sold. I’ve never heard of an author contacting reviewers about changes to ARCs, and that is awesome! I know I’ve read early copies of books that were drastically altered in final form, and it made them tough to discuss. Will be looking for her work!

Megan - I have seen this cover a few times and was curious. I didn’t know anyone who had read it, so in light of wanting to spend my money on something I knew I would likely enjoy I passed it up. After reading this though I’m really interested and might just pick it up in my next shop!

March 24, 2015 - 4:25 pm

Magan - Maggie, I wonder if you’d still have issues with the changes she’s made. You read an ARC, correct? I think things are going to feel really tight and put together in the final copy!

March 24, 2015 - 4:24 pm

Magan - Emma, I think you’d have a lot of fun analyzing LIARS, INC. for sure! Definitely check it out!

Magan - You’re welcome, Brianna! Thanks for reading! 🙂

March 22, 2015 - 11:16 pm

Brianna - This sounds like another great read. Thanks for sharing your review.

March 19, 2015 - 1:48 pm

Alexa S. - I honestly wasn’t certain if I wanted to read Liars Inc. initially. But after reading your review? Heck yes, I’ll consider giving it a shot. It sounds like a really intense story with lots of twists, and I think those can be great fun sometimes!

March 18, 2015 - 4:23 pm

Emma @ Miss Print - I was intrigued by the cover and jacket copy for this one but it never really grabbed my attention to read it. But gosh this review shows I am very wrong. It sounds fantastic. Thanks also for mentioning the changes from ARC to finished copy as I find that sort of thing fascinating.

March 18, 2015 - 7:39 am

Maggie @ Just a Couple More Pages - I didn’t like this as much as you did, but I do agree about all of the great diversity in the story. Even though I had a few issues with the story I really enjoyed all of those things. I expected the whole Liars Inc. business to be a much bigger part of the story, too, and I also liked that it wasn’t, but it kind of drove me crazy how Max kept mentioning it. Great review!

Sophie @ Seamless Reader - I simply can’t wait for this book to come out!

Great review! 🙂

Judith - Yay! I also read this book in a day, because it was just SO fun. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and mostly because I thought Lainey was an amazing protagonist. She was very confident, which is not like the main characters I usually read about, but she was also just so fun. I was also really rooting for Lainey and Micah, and I think Bianca is a great friend. I mostly praised this one because I felt it had so many healthy relationships and healthy relationship development, which is great!

Sash from Sash & Em - Must make my man work his hair into a baby mohawk. If only!

Anna - I adored Micah, Lainey and this entire book! Loved reading your review.

May 22, 2014 - 10:29 pm

Brittany @ The Book Addict's Guide - CUTE. I’m not sure if I have this one from EW or not but it wasn’t really on my radar much with all of the other things I have to read. I will definitely pick this up when I’m looking for something cute and fun! It sounds like I’d really enjoy it.

May 22, 2014 - 5:49 pm

tabithasbookblog - I think this may be my next read! I’ve had a copy on my Kindle for a few months now, but I’d never really wanted to read it, but you know… now I do! I’ve been in a “serious book” groove for a few weeks now and I really just want something fun!

Cannot wait for this one!!

May 22, 2014 - 1:33 pm

Alexa S. - I think (no, I actually KNOW) I need this book in my life. It sounds absolutely delightful! I’m always in the market for a fun, thoughtful contemporary. The Art of Lainey sounds really fun! And really great, story-wise and character-wise. CANNOT WAIT.

May 22, 2014 - 1:24 pm

Quinn @ Quinn's Book Nook - I’ve been seeing The Art of Lainey all over the book blogospher for the past few weeks, and I definitely want to read it. I’ve been craving contemporary books lately, and this one looks to adorable to pass up.

I do hope Lainey doesn’t drive me too crazy at the beginning, though. Also, I am super excited to meet Micah. I think I might just love him

May 22, 2014 - 10:26 am

Mary @ BookSwarm - Yay for beach bag reads! It think it’s funny that she “practices the art of war” and winds up falling for the fake boyfriend.
