The Big Wave & A Big Break | Pub Date

Friends, I am in a vacation state of mind. Every time an email from Jet Blue pops up in my inbox, I’m immediately scheming and dreaming. No plans on the docket for us, at the moment, but I’m hoping that will change soon… or maybe something magical will happen and I’ll be able to teleport […]

Brittany @ The Book Addict's Guide - I didn’t realize Famous in Love was set in Hawaii!!! Man, I really do wish we had gone there on our honeymoon. Maybe we’ll travel someday for an anniversary trip 😉 I really want to visit Hawaii so badly!
I do like Kona brewing a lot! I don’t know if I’ve ever had Big Wave but I generally always like their beers!

Alexa S. - That beer looks so yummy! And I think a beer would be a mighty fine idea right now…

First and Fresh | Pub Date

It’s officially spring in New York City. I know this because I bought my first iced coffee of the season at lunch yesterday and the pull toward bright, lighter clothing is so strong. I am resisting but one thing I can’t resist are all the spring beers available on tap. If you are a little […]

Alexa S. - I really like lighter beers in general, so I’m guessing that spring beers are the best bet for ones that I’d enjoy drinking. I’m also excited to look into First There Was Forever, which sounds like a pretty great read!

Maggie @ Just a Couple More Pages - Great picks! They’re never a go-to brewery for me, but I always end up really liking Captain Lawrence beers. I haven’t tried this one, but I’ll have to pick it up.

April 3, 2015 - 9:06 am

Brittany @ The Book Addict's Guide - I love your selections! Much more fitting than mine haha!
I think I’d enjoy this book too! I like reading about old souls and the main character sounds like my kind of gal. The beer sounds delicious too! I LOVE light and crisp beers, anything perfect for spring and summer. I like the wintery beers too but after drinking stouts and IPAs and brown ales all winter, I’m always ready for those fruity and light and zingy (yes, zingy) flavors!

Pump-KING for Halloween | Pub Date

Hello there! It’s Friday!! Hooray! We are also more than halfway to Halloween, which I will admit is not a favorite holiday of mine. I’m more into autumn decor than ghosts and goblins but I understand that some love it more than Christmas and Santa. Gasp! (Just kidding.) In the spirit of All Hallows’ Eve, […]

Lucy - This is so fun! I love a good seasonal brew & in fact the man and I recently had a pumpkin beer tasting. We drank Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale, Shocktop Pumpkin Wheat, New Belgium Pumpkick (our fave) and Amer. Orig. Pumpkin Ale. I have to say that after awhile they all blend together haha.

The Southampton sounds really yummy! I hope I can find it here. Great tip about the cinnamon rim too.

Happy fall reading and drinking 🙂

Jess @ Gone with the Words - This will be my first year having pumpkin beers and I have grabbed a couple different ones to do a taste test. I’M SO EXCITED FOR THIS! I hope the ones I picked are good because if not I’ll be very sad, lol.

October 17, 2014 - 12:14 pm

Brittany @ The Book Addict's Guide - YES, those are exactly the kinds of pumpkin beers I like too! I first saw the title and I was like “Pumking!?!?” because that one tasted really alcohol-y to me BUT I realized it was a cute little play on words there with Stephen King. Excellent!
I agree. I actually haven’t really tried too many imperials because I know I won’t like them. The cans that I grabbed for my pumpkin taste test actually turned out to be pretty good once I got the taste of Pumking out of my mouth haha — but I agree. I like the good blend of spices but subtle flavors. A good balance!

I REALLY want to read this book. It sounds so interesting and it’s been on my TBR for a looooong time (like, almost since I joined Goodreads which is apparently like four years by now). I’m glad to see your recommendation! I really need to make time for it sometime!

October 17, 2014 - 11:29 am

Em M - I am a SUCKER for all the things pumpkin – especially pumpkin beer. I also have a tendency to put pumpkin spice on EVERYTHING during the month of October 🙂 Peanut butter toast, my coffee, my oatmeal, etc. I’m reading The Shining by Stephen King right now and it is scaring my socks off. Enjoy your pumpkin beer this weekend!

Asheley (@BookwormAsheley) - Hi Estelle! I WISH I loved Pumpkin-flavored things! This makes me feel so silly around this time of year because not only do I not like pie and lattes, I don’t love the beer…EXCEPT just last weekend I found a fall seasonal pumpkin-flavored that I actually liked enough to BUY if I could find it at a store! It’s the Erdinger Oktoberfest and the reason that I love it is because it is based off of their Hef style and OMG it is delicious. It was a joyous occasion when I could actually claim a seasonal brew that I like since Mike LOVE LOVE LOVES them so much! Not sure if you’ve ever tried this brand but if you can find it, please do! Also, it’s a crime that I’ve not seen Hocus Pocus, right? I think probably so.

Pub Date: A Summer of Reds

Hello, friends! We have made it to Friday + it’s a special occasion because it’s my first contribution to PUB DATE — the brain child of Brittany at The Book Addict’s Guide — where I will be sharing book + beer pairings along with the lovely Andi of Andi’s ABCs and Maggie of Just a […]

Leah - HAHAHAHA, ESTELLE. I love you, but we could never go out drinking together. Dark beers scare me. Stouts? No thank you! If I’m going to have a beer it needs to be super light, super sweet, and super fruity!

There was recently a craft beer event in town and it was really fun! Local breweries were there and I felt a bit adventurous. Matt is way more into beer than I am, so he was all about the darker ones. I stuck with the honey-cucumber and lavender-corriander ones. Don’t judge me.

Christina @ My Life in Books - There are no James Page Brewing products within 100 miles of MA *sniffs back tears*

July 25, 2014 - 12:47 pm

Alexa S. - I think you’ll be happy to hear that I am considering this Pub Date feature my “education” when it comes to sampling different beers (because I do know what you think of my occasional beer choices, lol)! I really prefer beer over other drinks these days, interestingly enough. I love this feature loads, and am looking forward to indulging in Nantucket Red this weekend (and perhaps grabbing a beer too)!

July 25, 2014 - 11:48 am

Andi - The pressure is on! You and Brittany did such great posts I’m worried about my turn.

I love the beer passport thing. I am the only one of my friends that likes craft beers and trying different one. They are all (GASP) Bud Light drinkers and rarely branch out to other beers. I’ve tried changing it but no go.

Great pairing. And I love the header!

July 25, 2014 - 10:31 am

Ginger @ GReads! - Have I mentioned how much I love this feature? Because I do! Enjoyed your tidbit at the beginning about how you discovered beer, the beer passport, and your irritation with Bud Light drinkers (I feel this way too!!!). A friend of mine has mentioned a local group of ladies who tour Houston pubs & try craft beers. I’m thinking about attending some time. Sounds like fun & a great opportunity to meet more people.

July 25, 2014 - 9:29 am

Cassie - to be honest I’m not a beer lover but I would definitely give this one to go because you paired it with Nantucket Red and I’m always willing to try new things! Again. Love this feature.

July 25, 2014 - 9:06 am

Brittany @ The Book Addict's Guide - LOVE the fancy dancy header! <3
I just love your pairing. Everything about it is so perfect (not like I had any doubts) and I thought about the Nantucket books when choosing my post because they are just so perfect for summer.
I love your points on you and beer too! It's true. I drank crappy beer in college but I didn't really ENJOY it until maybe 3-4 years ago when I started trying different kinds (Shane was a big part of that too) and there really can be a beer for everyone!
