Attention, Attention: We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Since I listened to We Were Liars by E. Lockhart as an audiobook, it seemed fitting to share a little bit about it with you via a vlog. Just in case you’re at work, though, I’ll highlight a few things I loved and you can also check out Estelle’s amazing review. She said it was […]

Magan - Rosie, I agree with you. I was so shocked by what happened that I couldn’t stop thinking about it. But I think that’s WHY I love it so much. It has stuck with me and was so absolutely different than what I’ve read recently. It was such a nice change of pace and obviously very memorable for both of us. Thanks for your comment! xo

July 16, 2014 - 11:00 am

Magan - ALEXA! Yes, exactly! Listening to it just made it seem even more daunting. I couldn’t stop listening! Thanks for your comment! xo

July 15, 2014 - 10:28 pm

Alexa S. - I bet We Were Liars is interesting to listen to as an audiobook! It was pretty twisty and intriguing to read it, but I can only imagine how, with a great narrator, the story would be even MORE compelling. Glad you enjoyed it M!

July 15, 2014 - 4:38 pm

Rosie - I read this a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the ending for a few days, it was shocking and I couldn’t decide whether I liked it or not initially. On reflection, I really enjoyed it.

May 3, 2014 - 2:08 pm

Alexa S. - Wow. Tease definitely sounds like it would be a hard book to read, but also a GOOD one. There’s something interesting about seeing things through the eyes of the “bully” and not the “bullied”.

May 1, 2014 - 2:07 pm

Jamie - I AM SO INTRIGUED BY THIS ONE!! Definitely going to make sure it doesn’t just sit on my Kindle as an egalley! Love seeing a different POV plus I LOOOOVE books with narrators that make me a bit uncomfortable!

Lena @ Addicted 2 Novels - FINGERPRINTS OF YOU! I EFFING LOVE THAT BOOK!

November 4, 2013 - 5:51 pm

Alexa Y. - Hooray for two years of RBR! I’m so happy that blogging brought us together, as my life would be so less awesome without you both. <3

November 3, 2013 - 11:17 pm

Lisa Schensted - TWO YEARS! YIPEE!
I’m totes on that twitter chat, too! See ya there, homies.

November 3, 2013 - 7:23 pm

Paige - I bought myself a copy of Allegiant a week or two ago and I’m dying to read it! But I’m afraid to because I don’t want the trilogy to end. Good luck with everything Magan! And I hope you both enjoy everything!

November 3, 2013 - 2:22 pm

Liz (Along for the Read) - Estelle- I hate covers with faces, which is the sole reason that I have not yet purchased or read Just One Year yet. I’m going to hold out for the library copy, and hope that the paperback matches Just One Day (because I also really like that paperback cover)

Magan- I hope everything turns out well with your foster daughter, that must be a roller coaster of emotions, but it is so amazing that you have been able to experience all of that. I’ll be sending good thoughts your way.

I am so looking forward to the RBR chat on Tuesday! Can’t wait to talk to you both!

November 3, 2013 - 1:50 pm

Quinn @ Quinn's Book Nook - Aww, Magan. I hope things go as well as they can with your family. I really liked The Distance Between Us, too. It’s a light sweet read – maybe something you might need right now. I also need to stop buying, and then not reading my books.

Estelle – Prom & Prejudice is super cute. I don’t love all of Elizabeth Eulberg’s books, but that one is at the top of my list. I also really like The Lonely Heart’s Club. When I have a down day, I like to head to the book store, too.

I’m writing myself a reminder right now for your Twitter Chat. Congrats on two years of blogging!

Magan’s Shelve It for March 10, 2013

Oh, hello there. It’s been a while since I did a vlog for Shelve It. My weekends have been disgustingly busy since January, but here I am — enjoying a nice, quiet, rainy Saturday at home. (Hooray!!!) I just finished up one of the books I bought this week (Sean Griswold’s Head) last night so […]

Lena @ Addicted 2 Novels - I have REQUIEM, too! TWINSIES!!!

Amazon needs to deliver my copy of THINGS I CAN’T FORGET already before I completely lose it. AHHHH! AHHHH!!!!

Anywho, let me know what you think of them!

March 11, 2013 - 12:35 pm

Alexa Y. - M! I love your lipstick, and you look so pretty 🙂 Nice to see you back on video.

Sounds like you’ve gotten a great selection of books this week. I’m especially curious about The Academy, as it sounds like something I’d enjoy. I’m loving these sports-centered books (which also reminds me that I need to read Miranda’s books!).

March 10, 2013 - 11:35 pm

Lisa the Nerd - Hello, beautiful! Yay for the vlog! I do need to read Sean Griswold’s Head too. I like your cover MUCH better than the hardcover…that helps it bump up my TBR too! 🙂

March 10, 2013 - 6:01 pm

Magan - Aneeqah — you’re so sweet! Thanks, lady! It is so windy at our house too! CRAZY windy. We tried to go for a run this afternoon and I felt like I was having to work twice as hard. Needless to say, it was more of a run/walk! 😉 You definitely do need to read a Miranda Kenneally book. They’re all fantastic. Read them in order because the characters make appearances and they all take place in the same town. I’m so glad you’re nervous about Requiem too. Thanks for your comment! Have a great spring break!

March 10, 2013 - 5:58 pm

Magan - Margie — you don’t know how much your comment made me excited. I was wondering if there was even the slightest chance I’d feel excited. I almost feel like I knew that maybe the ending wouldn’t be super happy or perfect, but I almost expect that. Lauren is a brilliant author so I don’t want/expect her to take the easy way out by tying everything up perfectly. Does that even make sense? haha

March 10, 2013 - 5:57 pm

Magan - Oh, G. You’re so right. I should have included a song. I’m playing his CD right now if that counts? 😉

March 10, 2013 - 5:56 pm

Magan - Bookworm — I wish I had spring break too. Oh to be back in college again! 🙁 I will be writing my review for SGH shortly. I loved it so much! So glad you did too!

March 10, 2013 - 5:56 pm

Magan - Jen — The Academy: Game On doesn’t have a cover on Netgalley so maybe it hasn’t stood out? I am so glad you’re going to request it! I’m glad you’re feeling the same way about Requiem. Seems so iffy. AHHH. And yes, SGH was so, so good. Glad you loved it too!

March 10, 2013 - 5:54 pm

Magan - Mandee, somehow I had never heard of Sean Griswold’s Head — I don’t see it around on the blogosphere very much. It’s a few years old so maybe that’s why, but wow — so good! Hope you had a lovely weekend!

March 10, 2013 - 3:04 pm

Aneeqah @ My Not So Real Life - Magan, your v-logs are always so great to watch!! It was nice and stormy here last night as well, and now it’s just plain windy! So it’s definitely a great time to cuddle up with a book. And thank GOODNESS that I’m finally on spring break, and you’re totally right, I don’t even know what I’m going to do with my life without homework, haha. 😉

But anyways, I really need to pick up a Miranda Kenneally book, especially because you’ve read all but this one! And I’m totally on the same boat as you for Requiem- I want to read it so badly, yet I don’t want to either. I’m scared that it’s going to disappoint such a great series for me.

Anyways, lovely haul, Magan! Enjoy your books and have a fantastic, relaxing weekend. <3

March 10, 2013 - 2:07 pm

Margie aka The Bumble Girl - Great books, Magan! I really loved REQUIEM! Not at first, but the more I read, the more I was liking it all! And the end, which seems to be everyone’s issues, lol, I loved and can live with it! In fact, I want to rip the last page out and frame it… might have to do that to a paperback (eeep!)
Enjoy your new reads! xo

March 10, 2013 - 1:22 pm

Ginger @ GReads! - The only thing missing from this vlog… PHILLIP PHILLIPS hahaha. Seriously. He would have been a great soundtrack 😉

March 10, 2013 - 10:21 am

Bookworm1858 - Oh how I wish I had a spring break-I would love to spend a lot more time reading! Alas the workweek calls to me 🙁 Looking forward to your review of Sean Griswold’s Head-it’s one of my favorite books.

March 10, 2013 - 8:58 am

Jen - Oooooh! Game On looks adorable. Why haven’t I seen this on NetGalley? I will definitely go and request like, immediately. And YAY, Requiem, though I am petrified by everyone’s lukewarm reviews. I still have to read Pandemonium, so I think I’m going to be binging on this series some weekend in the near future! And YAY, Sean Griswold’s Head. FANTASTIC book.

March 10, 2013 - 3:24 am

VeganYANerds - Sean Griswold’s Head sounds so good, I’m sure I’ve heard of it before but I must have forgotten about it. Love that you stayed up reading it & I am a fan of heavy/sad books.

I’m looking forward to Requiem, but I’m not jumping up and down for it. I hope it doesn’t let you down!

Enjoy your weekend off xox

VeganYANerds - Yay! Happy New Year to you, Magan – and Estelle! 🙂

I want that person to return Ruby Oliver #4 already! Is it overdue? Sometimes I put something on hold at my library and they send the person a reminder so a. they can’t renew it again and b. they end up returning it. Anyway, Frankie is also awesome, and I hope you love her story!

I hope you get to wear your new dress out tonight (well tomorrow night for you!)

December 30, 2012 - 12:17 pm

The Bumble Girl - Hi pretty girl! You are so very sweet!
I adore Susane Colasanti and all the books that I have been able to read by her! She is such a great and inspirational person! I highly recommend Keep Holding On as your next book by her!
Great adult reads too! I should try to read a few of those next year too 🙂
Hope you and Estelle have a wonderful New Year’s! xo

Lori - I adore the Heist Society books! They are so much fun. I can’t wait to see what you think of it.

December 30, 2012 - 3:09 am

Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads - YOU ARE SO CUTE! Seriously. Especially the “y’all”s =) I will totally give you bonus points for venturing into the adult section … it can be a scary, uncertain kind of place. And there’s SO MANY MORE BOOKS in that section. It’s a little daunting. Happy New Year to you both — can’t wait for more of your amazing reviews in 2013! Mwah!

December 30, 2012 - 12:10 am

Aneeqah @ My Not So Real Life - This was such a cute v-log Magan! Yay for finally buying books!! I’m glad you went crazy at Half Price Books too, I visited that place this week as well, but managed to restrict myself to 3 books. 😉 But Crazy sounds really neat. I mean, a kid’s father is going crazy. Sign me up as well! 😉 I’ve heard amazing things about Heist Society, it seems like such a fun book. I’ll be looking out for your review of that one before I decide if I should pick it up for myself or not. And I’m glad you managed to venture into the Adult section at B&N! 😉 I totally feel comfortable in the YA section myself, so I totally understand what you mean by that. But it’s great that you venturing out and trying some more genres! I plan to do that in 2013 as well, within different genres of YA, since I mainly read fantasy/dystopia.

Fantastic haul Magan! This v-log makes me want to meet you so badly… perhaps at TLA this year? *hint hint* Enjoy your lovelies and have a fabulous new year! <3
