A Tribute to 2014: End of Year Survey | Estelle - […] Perfectly Good White Boy by Carrie Mesrobian: Carrie is such an honest writer, and this book from the male POV had such a surprisingly profound effect on me. Senior year of high school = tough, tough, tough but also exciting because it’s the first time we start to make decisions for ourselves (mostly, I think). […]

Alexa S. - What stands out to me most about Perfectly Good White Boy based on your review is how these characters feel like they really came to life off the page. I love that! It’s one of my favorite things in the world when I feel like I can really get to know and love characters, and that definitely sounds like the case with this book.

Jamie - YASSSS I’m even more excited to read this one now that I know you loved it! I really enjoyed Sex & Violence so I’ll be curious to know what you think!! this one sounds just as great! Also, boo to me for trying not to go on Netgalley because I totally missed that this was up. *shakes fist*

Asheley (@BookwormAsheley) - OH MY GOODNESS ESTELLE. I can’t even tell you how much I LOVED Sex & Violence. I want to read this book so bad! Carrie M. really knows how to write those tricky male main characters so well (yes, I feel pretty sure I can say that even after reading just S&V). I’m so over the moon excited that you loved this one because I think I’ll love it too and it makes it even better that I love this author. OH YAY. This makes me so happy!

Life in Outer Space (Character Gift Exchange)

There’s nothing better than being completely charmed and surprised by a book. When I first opened Life in Outer Space by Melissa Keil (a book I’ve had sitting on my shelf since May — I’m terrible), I had no idea I would fall for it so hard. It’s set in Australia (yay Aussie writers!) and […]

Alexa Y. - This post alone makes me want to read Life in Outer Space! I love all the presents you picked out for these two characters. I think I’ll like Camilla quite a lot because those gifts would be perfect for me 😉

Lucy - I’m reading this book now and it’s so much fun! How cute is that camera. OMG! And the gifts from Camilla to Sam are spot on.

alice-jane - It’s really neat how you came up with presents for fictional characters. While I haven’t read LIfe in Outer Space, I definitely felt like I knew the characters a little better after this. The Polaroid camera is super cute! Apparently Hot Topic makes Doctor Who, Star Wars skirts and maybe they’d be a nice for Camilla if she ever gets into the movies with Sam?

elena - I WANT EVERYTHING SAM IS GIVING TO CAMILLA! i’ve always wanted a fuji instax camera and yellow!!!!!!

MK - The idea of coming up with gifts for fictional characters to give each other is just the kind of nerdy activity I LOVE. Also, I enjoy your use of the term “a Dawson.”

alisa selene - Love the idea of coming up with gifts for fictional characters! This sounds like fun!

VeganYANerds - It makes me so happy to know that you too loved Life in Outer Space. I did not want to leave Sam, Camilla, and the rest of the gang when I finished the book. I love the gifts you chose for them both!

Theta Sigma @ The Wandering Bookworm - Fantastic post.

This has been one of my fave books for this year, partly due to the YA element and partly down to the fact that I’m a geek.

Hope there’s a sequel. 🙂
