366 days of silence (and then I talk too much)

I’ve been trying to write about my relationship with books in 2016 for the past week. I’ve scrolled through my list of top 10 books of the year — a list that has steadily remained at seven reads for the past few months — and tried to add others but fell short. I looked through notes […]

April Books & Wine - Yay! I don’t think you even understand how thrilled I am to see this post pop up in my Bloglovin reader. I have missed your posts. It sounds like you had a pretty intentional year. I hear you about the library books taking pressure away — I am trying to get away from some review books and read more library books because it truly does feel like I am under no pressure. Anyways, welcome back!

I just added some books to Goodreads because of this post and I look forward to adding many more because of your recommendations.

Meg - I miss blogging. I miss reading. I miss you. Still trying to get my own mojo back in so many ways, but I loved this post and am off to search for several of the books you mentioned — especially Tell Me Three Things. I read Buxbaum’s first book yearrrrrrrs ago and adored it, so I’m sure I will love this one, too!

Rather Be Re-Reading | Top 10 Tuesday

Greetings! We’re switching this week’s Top 10 Tuesday up a bit. Instead of ten books we recently added to our lists… how about ten books we’ve recently added to our re-read list? The truth is Magan and I are pretty much failing at the re-read this year. I guess that happens when you love the books you’re […]

Natalie @ Flowers in my Books - To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is SO good! I read it in January and I’m already wanting to re-read it again. I’m glad you liked it enough to re-read it as well!! 🙂

This year I’m planning to re-read Fangirl (because it’s probably one of my favourite books EVER), Anna and The French Kiss and TATBILB before the sequel comes out. Happy reading!

March 31, 2015 - 12:40 pm

chloe @ yabookloverblog - While I haven’t been reading much at all this year, I do love to re-read my favourites. I definitely don’t do it enough though! The only book I’ve read from your list is To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and while I wouldn’t considerate a favourite, I can totally see how it would be a good comfort read 🙂 Good luck!

March 31, 2015 - 11:38 am

Quinn @ Quinn's Book Nook - I just love re-reading. I’ve been trying to re-read a lot more this year. I’ve re-read 3 books so far, which isn’t too bad. But I’m feeling like a major historical romance re-read sense is in the near future.

I’d love to re-read Attachments, too.

March 31, 2015 - 8:03 am

Alexa Y. - I’m really very curious about this book! Like you, I LOVED The Lonely Hearts Club and was okay with Take a Bow. It’s exciting to hear that she’s developed her characters more in this one, and the story sounds like it could be potentially fantastic to me. Hopefully, I end up enjoying it!

Rather Be Reading: March 2013 Young Adult Book Releases - […] | Amazon | Estelle’s Review […]

February 19, 2013 - 11:14 am

Asheley Tart (@BookwormAsheley) - Oooh, I haven’t read any of Eulberg’s work yet but this is a really great review because it makes me interested in this book where I haven’t read anything about it yet. I’ve heard about Eulberg around, though, and people seem to really like her books. It’s really interesting that this book focuses on the main character being in the shadow of a younger sibling – I think you’re right, this isn’t very prevalent out there and could be interesting. I think it is interesting that Eulberg is tackling the ‘pageant’ thing too since that is such a big thing going on with the reality TV and that stereotypical pageant mom – it certainly sounds like she carried it over into this character, although I can’t make a completely accurate assumption since I haven’t read the book. I don’t know, this seems like it would be an interesting book to read. Thanks for putting it on my radar!

February 18, 2013 - 8:08 pm

VeganYANerds - It’s a good time for this book what with Toddlers and Tiaras being so popular. I can just imagine how awful the mother is (she sounds like some of the ones on the show) and I already feel for Lexi.

Also, I love that you used to tie your sister up!

February 18, 2013 - 12:46 am

Kailia @ Reading the Best of the Best - Ah Estelle, you’re kind of (well, really) awesome! I guess I can be thankful my big sis didn’t tie me to my chair lol. Also, I’m glad Eulberg gave “a lot more depth to her storylines and characters this time around. (This was one of my reservations with Take a Bow.)” Also, I LOVE The Lonely Hearts Club to pieces!

February 15, 2013 - 8:50 pm

Renae @ Respiring Thoughts - When a review mentions character depth and family issues, I’m almost always sold on that book. I love those topics! And it’s really great that authors are listening to what readers are saying and including those elements more often into their novels. I agree with you that a makeover is only denying the real problem behind lack of self-esteem, but I think this sounds really cute and fun, and as long as the author does address Lexi’s confidence issues in time (and it sounds like she does), then I don’t see why I wouldn’t enjoy this book.

February 14, 2013 - 12:15 pm

kit - I like the sound of this book – I always enjoy seeing sibling relationships depicted in YA (whether positive or negative, as it seems to be in this case!). I’ll definitely be looking out for this one – great review!

February 14, 2013 - 10:31 am

Quinn @ Quinn's Book Nook - I really want to read this one. I liked The Lonely Hearts Club and Prom and Prejudice. I haven’t read Take a Bow yet. I’ve really been into contemps lately. I hope I get approved for it on Netgalley!

February 14, 2013 - 10:08 am

Ginger @ GReads! - I plan to read this one soon. One of the reasons I like Eulberg’s writing so much is because she focuses a lot on what GOOD friendships should be like in high school. I really respect that. Glad to see it’s mentioned again in this novel.

February 14, 2013 - 9:25 am

Bookworm1858 - I’m really excited to check this book out-Take a Bow was a miss for me but I loved Eulberg’s other two books and I hope this one is great for me. I feel like Eulberg especially does friendships well and this seems to hold true here.

Estelle’s Shelve It >> 2/3/2013

I’m pretty sure I did a Shelve It last year on Super Bowl Sunday (which fell on my birthday…) Oh my absolute favorite day in the world. Things are so tremendously different this year: new city, new place to live, an iPhone, my husband’s team is not actually playing tonight, and the half time show […]
